Excuse me if the topics already come up but I haven't seen it!

The woman who gives birth is unclean for

33 days after having a boy child

66 days after having a girl child

Can anyone explain this to me!

Why is the mother unclean longer after having a girl child?

God Bless!

Absolutely no justification for this but I wonder if it has to do with a male child being closer to the prophesied Messiah than a girl child?

There was no chance that a female child would be the promised one.

I didn't see anything in my commentaries to cover this and until Dr McGee gets there, I can't help you.

A menustral cycle made the woman unclean for a certain amount of time until it passed under the old covenant. If anyone touched her during this time they would become unclean. A male child does not have a menestral cycle to make them unclean but the birth of a new male child would be touching the woman who was giving birth and all the icky stuff that goes along with it making the male child unclean for certain amount of time. so the purification process for the males were 33 days long.

but if the male passed his seed they were unclean until the evening and had to wash.

In the case of the girl child they also was touching the women during birth and all that entails which made the woman unclean during this time so the girl child was considered unclean and the time for puirification was longer to cover the menustral cycle that the girl child would eventually come to have in her lifetime.

That was God's order of purification regarding males and females as purification at that time in history came by law. It had nothing to do with women being slighted or being done unfairly in this regards for they were included and covered by the purification process as all others were.

just some food for thought not really sure but I do know that God does not slight and treat women unfairly but included us in His plan of things.

okay so let me see if I understand you correctly OC!

After a female child the mother is unclean for 66 days because

the girl child will some day have a menstral period of her own.

This still seems odd to me that there is a sort of punishment for

having a girl child put on the mother.

God Bless!

That is because you are looking at the purification process as a punishment, but whether my thoughts have any validity to them at all or not which I don't know for sure if they do. I do however know if their was a process to go through for cleansing (purification) then that wasn't a punishment but a provision under the law for us. Which is more of my point really. You did come up with a good question it no doubt is a real head scratcher.

I am finding it hard to follow that more time is needed because the child at some time in the future will have a period.

Now I could see that the woman could be given time off for good behaviour because the male child is circumsized and all of that - which is covered in the same passage.

Women are already treated differently because they are unclean during their menses. This is a head scratcher. I can't find anything in what comes before or after to explain this.

yes and that circumcision on the eighth day made the male child clean. So the woman had to carry out the rest of her time to cover herself but a girl child cannot be circumcised in order to make her clean except for the covering of her mother's purification process is the only way. Everyone under the law had some type of purification process to go through it never stopped if you touched a dead person you was considered unclean for a certain period of time you had the animals to sacrifice to make you clean and just all kinds of stuff and it applied to all not just the women. I don't see that the women are being treated differently they was provision in the law for all.

I would have been God looking out for the woman. Think about the sanitation issues in the past. Probably was a great idea for the babes to be with momma and no guests period until they were past that stage. God does everything for a reason. This probably insured that the women and babes lived longer. Didn't the Hebrew women deliver their babies really fast with no problems.

I'm not really sure wether or not Hebrew women delivered their babies quick

and with no problems- Since Adam and Eve's exit from Eden one of the

punishments for eating from the forbidden tree was that women would feel

the pangs of giving birth!

And if sanitation is part of it still doesn't explain the difference of the unclean

period after having a male vs having a female child.

God Bless!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
