That is untrue, runner's high. Morality was set in by God. there is no other morality than the morality that God gives us inherently. Before the Law, He set in us a conscience. It is all God-given and there is no other code in existence. It's not arrogance--it's the truth.

Whether or not conscience is God-given, it serves as a basis for moral systems other than the Christian one. Yes, other moral systems.

I have no hard time understanding how others apart from Christ feel differently than I do!

Exactly. You are truly unable to view things from other peoples' perspectives. This is called "narrow-mindedness." And it explains why you have so much trouble acknowledging the other religions and moral systems out there.

You admit that you have trouble understanding others' perspectives, yet you claim to speak for others. You speak as though you know the truth. You are not God; you can't know the truth. You can only believe. Don't pretend to be God; speak from your own experience and speak only for yourself.

READ AGAIN! I have NO hard time, because I was once a sinner. No one is born knowing God.

Duh, man!

In addition to your judgmental outburst---I can and do know Truth. It is knowable! I do speak from my own experience, which is the joy of knowing the truth in Jesus Christ. You right: I am not God, but I am His kid, and I know Him!

You are what makes a Christian so scary.

You think the truth can be known. And you think you know it!

Yes, there is such a thing as absolute truth and it is knowable. Too bad you don't know that.

1 John 2: 20-23

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Do not be afraid of Christians, dear. Fear God.

Human beings can experience absolute truth, because we were created to know it! We have flaws because of the Fall of Man, and are sinful and decrepit, but we have a void in us that can only be filled by God Himself. He is the One who provided the way to know Him. He is the One who can fill that void. He is the One who has done all the work to reach out to us and reconcile us to Himself. We are lost and hopeless and poor people without Him, but with Him, we are complete: found, rich and with all hope!

How can that be scary?

If truth cannot be known, why are you talking to us?

You use the Bible, "God's word", as evidence of the truth of God. And you use God's word as evidence of the truth of the Bible.

In case your are a visual learner, like I am, I drew a picture for you: http://aycu40.webshots.com/image/4639/2004...92648041_rs.jpg

According to you, God exists because God says he does. What's scary is that you see nothing circular about this.

Hahah! You like cartoons, eh? The proof is in Jesus Christ. You meet Him, and you will never doubt again.

Morality has existed long before religion. And it exists within every religion, Christian or not. Your moral law is certainly not the only one. Such arrogance!

Two points, dear fellow. Was there morality before there were humans? Almost by definition, one would have to say not (unless one believes in God, who was by definition 'moral' from before creation). And it appears that from the very dawn of man, he was always religious. So it seems quite impossible to aver that morality existed before religion, unless you think of morality as 'eternal principles' not dependent on human existence, which would open quite a can of worms for you, given your philosophical imperatives!

Second point, Christianity certainly does not aver that it is the sole bearer of moral truths. We DO aver that Christianity bears ALL moral truth, but certainly we agree, and applaud moral excellence wherever we find it.

I think a lot of athiests aren't scary....just scared. Scared of accountibility to God.

Their answer....stick your head in the sand and say to yourself, there is no god there is no god there is no god. Believer, what did you say?....NO!...there is no god there is no god.....

Undone, your take on atheists is flawed because it assumes all atheists are secretly theists on some level. This is untrue. Most atheists genuinely disbelieve in God. They do not fear something they disbelieve in.

Do you fear Allah? Zeus? Probably not. This is exactly how atheists feel about your God.

The truth is that "OUR God" is the only exisiting, living God. Allah and the others are figments of people's imaginations---or very real demons.

How do you define morality? Can a simple feeling of compassion constitute morality?

No. Compassion can be moral or immoral. I have no compassion for say, the impending execution of Saddam Hussein.

Where do you draw the line between superstition and religion?

Is there one? If so it is pretty fuzzy. Although I suppose the superstition about walking under a ladder would be sub-religious........

That is good to hear. :) Unfortunately many of your colleagues on these forums disagree.

Unfortunately not all Christians are right about everything. When they are, they agree with me.

Funny comment, Leonard! :)

Bottom line is: Atheists are not scary, but they do make me sad, as God's signature is everywhere and they refuse to read it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
