I believe in finding that one special someone...I found mine. Here's the thing, though...I didn't actually find out he was the one God had for me until I completely gave-in to God. I was in another relationship, a pretty bad one at that. I was determined that I was going to make it work, despite the fact that it was not going well at all. I wanted to show all those people who thought it wouldn't work. Heck, I wanted to show God that I could do it, because "for-pity-sake-I'm-sick-and-tired-of-being-single!!" (I know...pretty arrogant, eh?) Finally, I was broken. I went up to my college town (I describe it as a "thin place"...a place where it seems I am so close to God, as though the barriers of the physical world are thinner there...maybe it's just 'cause it's where God wants me to be) and cried on the shoulders of my Christian friends, and in the lap of my Father. I threw in the towel and said "fine, God! You do it! Make me single forever or bring me the right one! Whatever it is, just do it!" Very soon after, the man who is now my husband was holding my hand.

Trust God. He's not going to let you overlook that person. Even if it DOES happen to be someone you think you'll never see again, God will make sure they're brought back into your life somehow, if that is His plan. You might not know they're the one when you first meet them (or you might know but not realize it). I was friends with my husband a long time first...I was attracted to him, to be sure, and I thought a woman would be very lucky to have him someday...but if you had asked me then, I would NEVER have guessed that we'd be married now!

I doubt it's a lack of faith that is keeping you from the one...rather, it's more likely that it's simply not God's time for you yet. It might not make sense to you now, but when you do find the one, you'll look back on this time and say "Wow, God, you were right; that really WASN'T the right time for it!"

Thankyou for posting this. I.. have a situation I've been dealing with for months, and it gets me down a lot, but every now and again someone says something like you've just said and it fills me with new hope. Thankyou :emot-hug:

"The Princess Bride"!!!!! One of the greatest movies of all time!!!!! :P Lines from that movie find their way into many of the daily conversations that both I and my kids get involved in. Any man who wants to be a part of my life but doesn't like that movie, all I can say is, "That does put a damper on our relationship!"

We have been married for over 20 years now which is not really that long in a life time, and we love each other deeply. But I don't believe in the idea of only one person meant for each other from eternity. There are numerous people that could potentially be someone we could love. However when you do find someone that you are compatible with in every way and when love blossoms over the years and you do marry you THEN become "one" person yet two, totally unique together as one flesh. I usually see the words soul mate as a bad sign actually. Love takes commitment, acts of love, and time. You don't really even know someone until you have spent a couple of years around them.

After saying that, yes God does send us people. But not always, not everyone will find a mate to marry and that is alright also. Our greatest Christians often were not married; Paul said it would be better to not marry. I am saying all of this not to be a downer, but because I see so many Christians rush from one relationship to the next, from one marriage to the next, always falling in love, always finding a soul mate. The danger I see is for example a Christian who gets married to someone they really do love, but oops five or ten years down the line they meet what

Well, I have never known anyone who I would even be able to describe as "soul mate"...problem with me is that I tend to love too easy and get hurt because of this. Problem with them is that they didn't know how to love a Godly way.

So, what is one to think? I've had my children..have been divorced since 1992, had a 14 yr relationship that brought one good thing to me, my daughter and do not see that I will ever have a love that is pure, patient and kind that perfect love that so many say can really exist...seems a fairy tale...

I just leave it in God's hands. There is nothing else I can do...and I most certainly am not going to go out and hunt down a husband...ewww!

love and blessings

I to enjoyed The Princess Bride, both the book and the movie, a great deal.

As to the issue at hand. I fell out of that faith for a long time. Once I believed in True Love, a Soul Mate, or whatever it is called. Then my Mother re-married. All I knew for the 16 years to follow was hatred and weeping. It was a dark time.

Then Jim met Stephanie. And last weekend in Greensboro NC they were Married! G-d surly stirred that pot in that one. I stood amazed and overjoyed for them to become one together. So, in short, they restored my faith in True Love. And all that ooey gooey stuff.

I don't believe in soul mates or that there is "the one" for people.

Proverbs 31:10-31

A Wife of Noble Character

10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?

She is more precious than rubies.

11 Her husband can trust her,

and she will greatly enrich his life.

12 She brings him good, not harm,

all the days of her life.

13 She finds wool and flax

and busily spins it.

14 She is like a merchant

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
