Some persons have said that what makes man different from the animals is that man has a soul but the animals do not. However, Genesis 1:20,30 says that God created "living souls" to live in the waters, and that the animals have "life as a soul". In these verses some Bibles use the words "creatures" and "life" instead of "soul", but their marginal readings agree that the word "soul" is what appears in the original language. Among the Bible references to animals as souls in Numbers 31:28. There it speaks of "one soul out of five hundred, of humankind and of the herd and of the asses and of the flock".

Since animals are souls, when they die their souls [fleshly-bodies] die. As the Bible says; "Every living soul died, yes, the things in the sea". [Rev. 16:3] What about human souls? As we learned from the Bible, God did not create man [with] a soul. But, Man [is] a soul [fleshly-body]. So, as we would expect, when man dies, his soul [fleshly-body] dies. Over and over again the Bible says that his is true. Never does the Bible say the soul is deathless or that it cannot die. "All thos going down tothe dust will bend down and no one will ever preserve his own soul alive", Psalm 22:29 says. "The soul that is sinning.....it itself will die". explains Ezekiel 18:4 and 20. And if you turn to Joshua 10:28,39, you will find seven places where the soul is sopken of as being killed or destroyed.

As we have seen, the "spirit" [life-force, invisible power] is something different from our "soul" [fleshly-body]. The spirit is our life-force. This life-force is in each of the body cells of both humans and animals. Is is sustained, or kept alive, by breathing. What does it mean, then when the Bible says that at death "the dust [soul] returns to the earth.....and the "spirit" itself returns to the God who gave it"? [Ecclesiastes 12:7] The spirit not the soul returns to God in the sense that now our hope for future life rests entirely with God.

Yep! :emot-hug:

The soul is the seat of the mind, will and emotions--that dies. But our spirits? They live!

Yep! :taped:

The soul is the seat of the mind, will and emotions--that dies. But our spirits? They live!

When God created adam...He formed his flesh from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the "breath of life" and Adam became a "living soul". (we don't have a soul; we are a soul)

the term here for breath of life is the same as spirit. (keep in mind that more than one meaning of spirit was translated as spirit)

the bible uses "breath of life" and "spirit of God" interchangeably, here is one example,

Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

Flesh(dust) + Breathe of life(spirit) = living soul or(being)

When we die, our bodies return to dust and our spirit(or life giving force) returns to God who gave it...we then cease to exist until we are resurected. What else would be the point of the resurection?

there is much scripture to support this, but I'll hold off unless somebody wishes to debate this.

Greetings~

Funny in a way because I just asked my Pastor a few weeks ago about this. Pastor Frank told me that when we die, our soul goes into a sleep mode and remains there til the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Here you go again, Tom.

Not going to debate you here, as I believe it is a pointless and fruitless debate when someone doesn't want to learn the truth. We NEVER cease to exist. We are spiritual beings who live in fleshly bodies. Resurrection is for our bodies alone! THAT is what scripture supports when it talks about the resurrection! The point of our resurrection into glorified flesh is so that we can live on the New Earth and reign and rule with Jesus, who also has a resurrected glorified body already!

Hey buddy, your statements are quite bold. I like that. The truth is that I do want to know the truth. I have had to change my whole theology in the past, bacause my eyes were opened to see what the scripture says. you don't understand the state of the dead, or the resurections. they are very key issues on the matter. Also, our Souls are not immortal. "the soul that sinneth it shall die"

We are a soul, we don't have one.

Grace to you,

We do not need another thread on this subject. There are a few around.

As for the Ministries position. One only need to look to our Statement of Faith.

This thread is going to be closed along with anymore that pop up.

Peace,

Dave

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
