Marxist drivel. I was raised in a Communist household and know all the lies, and how they strive to convince their 'useful idiots' by means of articles like this. Looks like Forest is already convinced, and I resent him spreading his pernicious antichrist filth here!

Forest, how can you possibly believe such utter nonsense. We have it better than any humans have ever had it in history. ALL of us can start our OWN businesses if we want to. Our 'poor' have cars, color TV hooked up to cable or satillite, washers, dryers, refrigerators, central heating and cooling! Pray explain to me, how we Americans are suffering so at the hand of others....... Only a purblind moron could believe such things.

But, I am here to help you Forest. Maybe you can take a lesson from me: When I was a much younger fellow, I wanted to be artist. There was one problem: I hadn't the aptitude. I was simply horrible at it.

I soon found out however, that I had a very high aptitude for languages, quickly gaining a reading knowledge of almost any tongue I looked at. I also learned that what fascinated me most was Philosophy and Theology. I had a singular ability to take the very complex thoughts of men like Spinoza, Hobbs, and Feurbach, and make them understandable to a broader audience. I also found that I had a capacity to look at a set of building, bridge, or roadway plans, and to clearly visualize what must be done in order to actually build the project drawn. These abilities have held me in good stead and I have always made a reasonable living as a college teacher, and in engineering. All because I learned to recognize my limitations.

Only be learning our limitations, can we begin to capitalize on what is best for us. You, Forest, must also learn your limitations: You mustn't keep trying to THINK! And because you have a unique capacity to accept incredibly stupid ideas as facts, you especially should not try to spread your opinions. They will simply hurt lots and lots of people.

In fact last century your very ideas caused the deaths of over 100,000,000 people! I'm sure you do not want to continue such a legacy, as I give you credit at this point, for being a person of goodwill, who has simply been hood-winked by this Marxist poison. If you are addicted, and must keep drinking this koolaid for yourself, at least have the decency to not try to get others addicted. If you continue to do so, then I must conclude you are an actively evil person.

I don't agree with most of what the author wrote in the article, I simply posted it as a different way of looking at something. His ideas are hardly communist though, I would say they are most just European Style Socialism at most.

Looks like you have some issues about your childhood, you might ought to talk to someone about them. Everything left of Reagan is not communism you know nor is it an attempt to spread it. :6: Sometimes you sound like a capitalist version of the Gang of Four, always on the look out for evil "communist roaders". I think most people realize that communism was an abysmal failure. However, I think the vast majority of people are also rational enough to see that every ant-poverty effort is not a step toward communism either.

If you do not completely believe in what you post, why do you post it, then defend it and as soon as it's challenged or exposed for what it really is, you retreat and say. . . .ah ah ah, that's not what I meant. Sounds cowardly.

We all know how many people died because of communism. Why do you think we cringe at the very thought of heading in that direction, socialism is the foundation of communism, that's why we "greedy capitalist pigs" break out the jackhammers and destroy any sign of it.

It is interesting to note that in the Laws given to Israel, there was provision for the poor. However, the poor will still required to work for their food; there were no free handouts.

It was called gleaning. Those who grew food were to leave the edges of the field and any grain that fell off the carts for the poor. The poor in order to get the food had to collect it themselves.

The problem with handouts is that it does not motivate people to take care of themselves. For that matter, a lot of homeless take offense at hand-outs.

From what I can tell, the only useful government program to aid the poor and needy were programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps. The pay may have been low, but it was work, not a hand-out.

Just something to think about.

Mystery of all mysteries: EVERYBODY wants to come to "horrible" America! They even sneak in illegally! They chance their lives to sail 90-miles to Key West to enter! They all want their entire families back home to join them in "heinous" America! Even those socialists who oppose this most generous nation on God's green earth do not desire to LEAVE it! All this speaks volumes far more pronounced & far more convincing than any leftist Bill Moyers could ever hope to relate! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

No, they don't want to "become" America, they want America to change to accomodate their culture, rather than assimilating into the one they want so to come to. And why shouldn't they want to sneak in--they have it better than legal citizens.

You guys are blowing this way out of proportion. The only point to the article was that the growing disparity between rich and poor in this country is a moral issue, that does not mean that one would have to agree with the authors remedies for it.

I don't believe it is a moral issue. So what if someone has billions of dollars in assets and I am just living in the middle class? There is no moral issue in that. All it means is that God saw fit to allow this one man to obtain great wealth, and not me. Those who make it to heaven will all have a mansion, so even if I don't have much down here, I am not envious of those who do. I hope they enjoy the things they have accumulated, because for many of them outside of Christ, it is all the enjoyment they will ever know.

Well, I agree and I disagree with you. Yes, there is no moral issue in you being in the Middle Class, while a few are rich. However, we are the richest nation on earth, yet we have the highest child poverty rate of any industrialized nation. That is a moral issue.

Now, whether the solution is a public sector one or a private sector one is very debatable, and many times on here after going back and reading my posts, I find that I argue issues from well to the left of my actual position. I think its a reactionary thing. So really, I don't believe the answer is a some hand outs or something like that. However, I do think that as a society if we want to be a Christian nation, then we cant ignore the fact that 20% or more of our children live in poverty. That is every bit as much of a moral issue as gay marriage is or anything else. In fact, one could easily make the scriptural argument that its a far bigger moral issue (Sheep and Goats). I don't think that God would be smiling down on us as a nation if we said, "Well we have no gay marriage, and no pornography, and we have the 10 Commandments in every courtroom, but here in the richest nation in the history of civilization, we largely ignore the fact that 20% of our children live in poverty."

We could certainly step up to the plate and solve this as Christians. To be honest, while I disagree with them on a variety of theological issues, the Catholics are certainly doing their part. Catholic Charities is by far the largest religious charity in America as provides more aid to the homeless, impoverished, mentally ill, and children, than any other agency in America other than the government. If the rest of us Christians stepped up to the plate like they have, we would could virtually eliminate child poverty in America and many of the issues that are really are shame as a society.

I can't take this child poverty argument anymore.

America, is, based on your POV forrestkc, the richest country in the world, so why are there still poor people? America is a casteless society, in that no matter where you were born, or what neighborhood you grew up in, you have the opportunity to make something of yourself. You can leave it all behind and be successful.

Now, let's factor in other things that cause poverty besides being born into it. Drug addiction, alcoholism, unwed pregnancies, materialism and some mental disability that there is no cure for, ie schizophrenia, autism, mental retardation, laziness. Now, anyone that is born into poverty or is a minority can attend college for free or at relatively no cost. Our public education system is a wreck, especially in the inner city schools, people criticize them by saying the education standards are low and discipline doesn't exist. First off, if the education standards are low, then school should be easy for anyone to get through. I went through a very difficult and highly regarded school in my hometown and walked through High School, I took all the advanced classes I could get, never studied and still got a 3.5 gpa, I often wonder if I could've been Valedictorian if I had put some effort into my studies.. Anyone that isn't a moron can make it through school. There are programs for the morons that can't read a text book at the grade level they are in. If someone is attending a school that has low academic standards, I wonder how someone can say they attended that school, couldn't pass it, then quit and then use that as an escuse for mediocrity (overstatement)

People need to quit making excuses for themselves. Now, that I covered education, now I get to bring up the rest.

Guys, everything else is the result of living a self gratifying life and ignoring the instructions in the bible. God tells us how to eat, what to drink, to abstain from fornication and to live simple lives. Most people in poverty discard all or most of those standards. But, they still come up with their own excuses for their failures, and they never blame themselves.

But, God doesn't hold us accountable for those born in poverty. We are to show them compassion and give what we can to them, but charity is a gift, not an obligation. (Stand before God and tell Him that you didn't have the discipline to give to the poor, but that you paid so many dollars in taxes for them). This is what I think God will tell you about our social programs. "Didn't you give to Ceasar what was his? If so, then you didn't give money to the poor, you gave it to Caesar. God holds man responsible for his sins and even holds several following generations responsible for their ancestors sins. It doesn't seem fair in our world that the innocent should suffer because of their parents. But, society is not to blame for that. It was the parents poor decisions that led up to that poverty and their refusal to change.

We should provide what we can, but like I said, Charity is a Gift from the Heart. People that have a lot and give nothing are being immoral, but that's their decision, do you really think God cares if a wealthy person paid 1% more in taxes and that money was used for the poor? God does not care, He cares about what's in your heart, not your wallet.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
