The 'original formation' of God's creation shall also be released from the state of vanity it has also been placed in for this flesh age time. We shouldn't have difficulty in grasping that, because it's not difficult to see how everything during this flesh time eventually dies and decays through disease, etc. All of God's natural creation has this same "hope" in Salvation through Christ Jesus, just as we do. That's what the 'new heavens and a new earth' is about (2 Pet.3). We don't know yet exactly how that time will be, but we know it will be in a perfect everlasting state. (A good subject for another post maybe?).

Good post, davey.

I lifted out this section because this has been the subject of a lot of my musings lately, what I call the Law of Entropy and Christ. In science, the Law of Entropy is basically the premise that everything deteriorates and decays (this is a very simplistic version of the theory). I sort of view the whole story of the Bible until Christ's incarnation as the entropy of man, beginning with the original sin. Christ is the turning point in this as he conquered death and we will see the reversal of the entropy with the second coming and the restoration of all things, when all things in heaven and on earth are reconciled through him.

His son:

I have that sin 'trinity' marked out in my Bible both in Genesis 3:6 and 1 John 2:16 as sister verses:

Gen 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father, but is of the world.

The tree was good for food=lust of the flesh

it was pleasant to the eyes=lust of the eyes

desireable to make one wise=pride of life

I believe that covetousness is actually the "father of all sins."

It was when the devil saw the position , worship and glory given God, that he coveted it. Pride is just the result of a tempted and covetous heart's self-justifications as to why they should have what is is that they covet.

Same thing with the fall of man, they saw the fruit and desired it because they were seduced into a state of discontentment by the lies of the Deceiver . . . and when lust conceived, sin was born . . .

  • Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust <epithumia>, and enticed.
15 Then when lust <epithumia> hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

    • Ro 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust <epithumia>, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet <epithumeo>

<epithumeo> - to set the heart upon, i.e. long for (rightfully or otherwise):--covet, desire, would fain, lust (after).

Peace

William

isn't the root, the origional sin, disobedience to God? why try and make something so simple into something so complicated?

I agree. Maybe a better way of saying it is the root of all sin is man not being satisfied with just having God, which leads to disobedience. Adam and Eve wanted knowledge apart from God. Man throughout the ages has never been satisfied with having only God on the throne of his life. The book of Judges is one of the best examinations of this paradox. Then the people cried out for a king unwilling to acknowledge that God was the only King they needed.

So it seems to me that sin is that which takes our eyes off God and His plan for us.

That is why it it so important for the body of Christ to renew their way of thinking, so their spiritual vision may become sharper. Spiritual growth, which is the essence of our spiritual journey, can only be attained as we move toward a Christ consciousness. However, such a consciousness is in total conflict with the comfort that many seek to have in the material world. Unfortunately, the rapid growth of prosperity ministries only add to the already difficult task of overcoming the world. But, this we must due in order to seek spiritual relief and instruction. It is faulty thinking for us to believe that the temporal fruits of this world are the goal of life, because they are lost at the time of death, but that which we gain spiritually is not.

You demonstrate rather well your comment about satan subtily inserting one of his deceptions in the center of truth. Do I hear some of that no no judgment being leveled some one who you are not qualified to judge? Are you trying to subtily induce some disention within the church?

Greetings in the name of Christ our Lord and Savior

I have so enjoyed the conversations to the research on original sin. Please continue on with your thoughts, and know that the better we can cover such subjects the more well rounded our knowledge of these things will be because we have combined as a body in Christ with His Spirit to give answer to this world as to what we believe. This will go on then and become a testimony of the believers in this age to those who seek after Christ, and we are all a part of it.

It is for this reason that we should seek out one another, and desire one another over the things of this world. I am getting good response from other sites as well as we cvontinue to seek after the truth in Christ Jesus for the benefit of all who would grow in Christ.

May you richly bless God through your life in Him;

The Unworthy Servant

Sin is not a substance (metaphysics) lodged in our genes or bodies. We do not need to try to eradicate this nebulous 'original sin' passed on from Adam. Sin is a wrong Moral choice (selfishness; disobedience; lawlessness; rebellion). We need to rely on the Spirit, live up to the light we have, and chose to obey rather than living for self/flesh.

Sin is lawlessness. It is selfishness. It is not a tragedy/calamity passed on to the human race that God or Adam is to blame for. It is a crime of choice against a holy God by free moral agents (we are responsible/accountable). We are morally depraved , because we chose to sin. We are sinners because we sin. "Original sin' proponents (like Augustine ff.) say we sin because we are sinners (traditional view). We do have physical depravity from Adam that gives us a propensity to living for the flesh. It is not causative. Morals (virtue/vice) are from the will, not a so-called 'sin nature' back of the will that makes us sin.

Lucifer and Adam did not have sin natures, yet they sinned. We are born innocent, yet all eventually chose to live supremely for Self, rather than God. Salvation is chosing to live for God and His glory as our highest end, rather than to live for self. It is a moral change that restores a love relationship. It is not a physical change (metaphysics) that zaps our sin nature and passively gives us a new nature that never sins.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
