I was wondering what your views on drinking are. I've heard many times from people that drinking is not a sin, only if you get drunk its a sin so you have to make sure you know when to stop and control your self. Is this true? I'll admit,Ive dranked a few times..but not to get drunk, just a glass of wine (wine coolers and such) here and there but Ive never been drunk. People tell me Jesus drank wine all the time when they drink, does that make it ok? I have some friends who are very heavy drinkers. Any help would be great.

I would rather stay away from such an activity in order to keep from being misinterpreted. If there is ever a doubt, just don't do it. It's not worth it.

Shalom,

I don't drink alcohol. I think it is a bad witness. Besides being a slippery slope to getting drunk and sinning. Sometimes, we cannot tell how impaired we are until it's too late. I must say, I do believe people have the freedom to drink if they like, but personally, it bothers me. Also, I think we should be willing to pay it down if it caused our brother to stumble. Remember, alcohol is a drug.

If you can't control yourself after you start drinking..it's best NOT to drink.

Some people have control and know when to stop, others can't.

Becoming drunk and losing control is not desirable as a Follower of Christ. :P

1 Cor 6:12 All things are permissable but not all things are profitable.

Matthew 15

11 Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

Mark 7: 14 And turning to the people again, he said to them, Give ear to me all of you, and let my words be clear to you:

15 There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.

Mark 7: 14 And turning to the people again, he said to them, Give ear to me all of you, and let my words be clear to you:

15 There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.

16 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

17 And when he had gone into the house away from all the people, his disciples put questions to him about the saying.

18 And he said to them, Have even you so little wisdom? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside is not able to make him unclean,

19 Because it goes not into the heart but into the stomach, and goes out with the waste? He said this, making all food clean.

20 And he said, That which comes out of the man, that makes the man unclean.

No, drinking isn't a sin. Being drunk is. Everyone's already made lots of good points. The easiest thing would be to stay away from it altogether. Then you wouldn't have anything to worry about. If one must drink, it's important to remember that others are watching you, possibly others newer(maybe weaker)in the Lord than you. The Bible says we mustn't do anything that causes our brother or sister to stumble, or to sin. I have to be careful my actions, even though not sinful, don't influence my brother or sister to sin. Also, we must obey all the laws associated with alcohol, such as drinking ages and not drinking and driving. Heavy drinking sounds like getting drunk. This is sinful. There are several places in the New Testament where we're told this. Your friends have no biblical justification for their actions. Quite the contrary. That being said, you should pray for them, that their eyes would be opened to the true nature of their actions. If they aren't saved, you could pray for that, too. :P

I've been drunk before, and it is very possible drunkeness itself is a sin. The problem with getting drunk is that it impairs your judgment, and can also lead up to you commiting other, more drastic sins. So as some people have said, if you can't control yourself when drinking, it is best not to drink.

Again, I think having a few drinks is ok, but I would tend to avoid becomming a heavy drinker, for it can lead to worse things.

I use to drink and I have also been drunk. I realized I was opening a door for attack from the enemy when I drank...then one day I thought...oh goodness what if I'm taking a swig of this beer and the rapture happens. Now I choose to be sober and I don't even drink occasionally.

This is already a topic in "Controversial Issues" with lots of people making valid points.

DO you drink? Link to other thread

I would say that it is NOT okay to drink. There is little, if any, evidence that Jesus drank alcohol. There are LOTS of warnings about the dangers of alcohol. Also, the alcohol content in most of todays beverages is so high that even a small amount (4 oz.) of wine will begin to have immediate effects on a person without them even knowing it.

I believe that the social consumption of alcohol is a sin. I am neutral about drinking in the privacy of your own home.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
