Question for anyone:

Do you believe its wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me?

It depends, the Holy Ghost will never tell you to do something against the teachings of Scripture.

Scripture doesn't say anything about giving God less than 100%, so is it wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me?

Where does it say that? Our attitude should be that we would give everything. Our attitude should be that G-d owns all we have and He allows us to keep so much of it. But if you are walking in Him, and being obedient, I highly doubt G-d would tell you to give your mortgage payment to the church or make your kids go hungry because you gave away your last 20 bucks.

Okay i agree, so is it wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me?

Shalom,

It depends on IF the Holy Spirit is telling you, or you are telling you.

You must go by the Word of G-d if you think the Holy Spirit is telling what you give. The Holy Spirit will never go against the Word.

Obviously if the Holy Spirit tells you something to give it must be viable with scripture. This is not a hypothetical question or a hard one. If the Holy Spirit tells you what to give should you obey it?

Shalom,

If I THINK the Holy Spirit is telling me anything, I:

Check it with the Word to see if it lines up with Scripture.

See if the Holy Spirit has told my husband the same thing and we are of one mind.

If not, it's not the Holy Spirit.

If you feel the Holy Ghost compelling you to give, I say pray one more time about it, check with your spouse, make sure it isn't contrary to Scripture, and just do it. If you don't you'll regret it forever. Take it from one who learned the hard way.

I don't believe tithing is done away with........but I do believe the curse from not tithing is gone and I believe the burden of tithe is gone. If a person wants to tithe by faith, being led by the Spirit, I think that is an awesome thing in the sight of the Lord.........but this thread was started by a sister who was confused about her giving and didn't want to get in trouble with God. IMO she should just be led by the Spirit. :41:

Believe me, the part about the curse is still true today! I have lived it, and so do many still, who refuse to tithe. The curse has many faces...all found in debt and trouble.

Gal 3:10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

If you want to believe you can be under a curse as a Blood bought christian...........you can.........as sad as that is.......but I'm a new creature in Christ and I'm not under a curse because I have been bought with the Blood of Jesus!!

As a Spirit-filled Christian, I didn't want to believe I could be experiencing any curse of God, but with our finances in such poor shape, for so many years, someone asked us one day, "Doesn't your financial pain and lack feel like a curse?" WOW! My eyes were opened to the fact that we definitely were living under a curse caused by fleshly thinking!

We started tithing and now everything has turned around! No more lack, and what a blessing to be able to bless others now.

So you based your opinion on an experience instead of the Word of God.

Shalom,

Perhaps this is more what you're looking for?

If I know for sure that G-d is leading me in ANY area, and what I believe I am hearing from G-d lines up with Scripture and my husband and I are in agreement that it is G-d..., we obey.

Adding this for clarity: In the case of tithing, the Holy Spirit will NEVER tell me not to tithe (as a starting place) because it is a Biblical responsibility to tithe. So, if I think G-d is telling me not to tithe, I believe that is not G-d.

Does that help?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
