Santa, Mother Theresa and God.

Santa IS alive and well, some say.....

"They" have replaced the jolly man in the suit with the Heavenly Father BUT the "wish list" comes out all the same.....

Come on...We've ALL been guilty of this.

I love what Mother Theresa said once, when asked what she says to God in Prayer :

She said " Nothing, I just listen...." when asked what God says to her, she replied "Nothing, He just listens."

Hmm..Food for thought.

I like your post, it makes a good point. I agree, asking God for a bunch of stuff is a more immature way of praying.

I have tried the Mother Theresa method but I have to say, I need more practice "tuning" in, as any little noise distracts me.(Live in a very busy, noisy area).

"With praise and thanksgiving MAKE ALL YOUR REQUESTS KNOWN UNTO GOD!"

Posted

:th_praying:

Wonderful post Sis, just wonderful!

Wow!

Thanks Sis.

I looked in The Book.

I saw.

Sometimes we cry out in need.

Sometimes we rejoice.

Sometimes we bless.

Sometimes we are still.

I'm His more and more.

"He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)

I'm (almost) speechless.

Not a bad place to be in prayer!

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Romans 8:26)

Prayer is the one time I talk knowing I'm heard!

Prayer is the one time I ask trusting the answer!

No tricks.

No lies.

"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

"Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." (Matthew 6:7-8)

He Hears.

"In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears." (Psalms 18:6)

Awe struck Creation!

"But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him." (Habakkuk 2:11)

Awe struck Joe!

"Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalms 46:10)

Shout to The Lord!

"Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart." (Psalms 32:11)

Bless The Beloved

" The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:"

"The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:"

"The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." (Numbers 6:24-26)

Oh Israel!

Oh Israel!

Your Redeemer Comes!

"And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them." (Numbers 6:27)

God Is Good

"Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart." (Psalms 73:1)

Amen! Amen! Amen!

Love, Joe

Regarding prayer, unfortunately for those who practice this, no where in Scripture does it say sit and listen.

In the Scriptures, believers are invited by God to ASK and recieve anything, not only what we need, but all things that are covered by the promises of God. This is startling news to many people, and is contrary to modern thinking among Christians, but its true. We are to forget all man made limitations, forget the old prayer "if it be thy will," for it is already God's will for us to ask "WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU" (Mark 11:22-24; John 15:7; 16:23-26).

Why throw any reflection, any doubt upon God by asking Him if it is His will when He has already made very clear His will? In other words, what God has promised that is already His will; so ask and recieve. It is only the things that are not specifically covered by the promises of God in the Scriptures that we need to seek the will of God for.

We are told to be daring, and agressive in asking and recieving. If we limit the promises, we limit your faith; and when we limit our faith, we limit the supply by limiting God to give according to our faith. We actually get what we have faith for. The principle of recieving is "According to your faith so be it unto you" (Matt. 8:13; 9:29; Mark 11:22-24; James 1:5-9; Hebrews 11:6). The promises are unlimited; the believer is unlimited if he will exercise unlimited faith (Mark 9:23; 11:22-24; Matt. 7:7-11; 18:15-19; 21:21-22; John 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 16:23-26).

If God were to appear before me or a congregation of believers we would all be awestruck and IN SILENCE. And yes, I dont have to say anything to know that God is God, and is exalted among the heathen and in the Earth. But I have enough common sense to know that if I want anything from God, I can and do go to Him IN PRAYER, and "ASK" as he plainly teaches me in His Word, and I believe He know what He is saying in His Word when He says it.

Why do people insist on arguing Scriptures?

I gave many Scriptures where God PLAINLY STATES THAT WE SHOULD ASK WHAT WE WILL AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO US, according to our faith? What is so hard to understand about this? Just because someone, [mother Teresa] for example says she never speaks to God, she just listens, suddenly this becomes the way?

There is in fact a time for every purpose, and this is covered very clearly in Ecclesiastes 3 1:8 for all to read. Verse seven covers the "Time to rend, and a time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak."

I never kept quiet when my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I prefer to speak to God whenever I need His help, advice, or any other thing covered by the promises of God. I said; "God, you promised that I can ask anything and it shall be done. I ask you to heal my wife, and I hold you to this promise! My wife is totally healed, praise His Holy Name.

I challenge anyone to go to their Father with a need and just sit there and say nothing, and see how far you get?

In Jesus,

Haz.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
