Regarding prayer, unfortunately for those who practice this, no where in Scripture does it say sit and listen.

In the Scriptures, believers are invited by God to ASK and recieve anything, not only what we need, but all things that are covered by the promises of God. This is startling news to many people, and is contrary to modern thinking among Christians, but its true. We are to forget all man made limitations, forget the old prayer "if it be thy will," for it is already God's will for us to ask "WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU" (Mark 11:22-24; John 15:7; 16:23-26).

Why throw any reflection, any doubt upon God by asking Him if it is His will when He has already made very clear His will? In other words, what God has promised that is already His will; so ask and recieve. It is only the things that are not specifically covered by the promises of God in the Scriptures that we need to seek the will of God for.

We are told to be daring, and agressive in asking and recieving. If we limit the promises, we limit your faith; and when we limit our faith, we limit the supply by limiting God to give according to our faith. We actually get what we have faith for. The principle of recieving is "According to your faith so be it unto you" (Matt. 8:13; 9:29; Mark 11:22-24; James 1:5-9; Hebrews 11:6). The promises are unlimited; the believer is unlimited if he will exercise unlimited faith (Mark 9:23; 11:22-24; Matt. 7:7-11; 18:15-19; 21:21-22; John 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 16:23-26).

I dont know, Elijah sat and listened for a while......

Jonah sat and listened and watched for a while.....

John sat, watched and listened.....

peter sat, watched and listened..... spoke, and listened again.....

there are man examples of people sitting and listening for the Lord.......

if we do not sit and listen, then we will not hear HIS Voice.... if we do not stop, and listen, but continue OUR

talking, we will not hear HIM.....

if you and me are in a room and i talk all the time, and do not stop and listen, how are you going to get a word in edgewise??????????????/

if we do not stop....... sit....... listen...... and wait upon the Lord....... we will never know what He wants....

Did I say we are not to listen to God when He speaks? I dont think so. I said this regarding prayer in asking and recieving.

Believe it or not! . . . . . Even Jesus said; "IN MY NAME, ASK THE FATHER ANYTHING, AND HE WILL GIVE IT YOU" (JOHN 16:23, John 15:16). Jesus says nothing about listening to the Father and He will give it you? One listens to gain knowledge or advice, one askes to recieve. One doesnt listen when one wants something, one askes when one wants something. Now, what is so difficult to understand about these plain simple Scriptures? or do we have to discect them, interchange them, put up Scriptures that say the opposite to suite our pet theories untill they dont mean what they say so we can give glory to the devil? Or do we believe Jesus when He said, if you want anything, "ASK" not listen, but "ASK." Now if one wants to learn, pay homage to, reflect upon, meditate on, get information from someone, then by all means listen. But if one wants something, JESUS teaches us to "ASK," not listen. That makes sense to me! If I need something I don't go to a store and listen to the sales person. I go to a store and ask the sales person to give me what I want if he has what I want. If a sales person came up to me and said; "Sir can I help you?" and I said, "No I am listening to you," he would think, should I ring the yellow taxie? this dude has flipped his lid!

Ask and ye shall recieve. And I suppose the opposite is listen and you shall hear. Listening is not asking.

Dear Brother Hazard.

You are correct!

We are to ask Abba Father for our needs.

I think we may be both on the same page here but we may be just talking past each other?

Brother, I know you know this but I have got to say it anyway.

Prayer also is worship and fellowship and adoration and love.

Sometimes I really need to just sit at His Feet and drink Him in.

Sometimes I need to just shut-up and Know God!

You are loved, Beloved of God.

You are right, Beloved of God.

You are home with your Christian family, Beloved of God.

Forgive me if I lead you to think otherwise dear brother.

Love, Joe

The Lord told us directly how to pray.

Our main petition is that God's will by done, not ours, as for as our needs, we are to ask for our daily food and clothing and for God to forgive us our sins, and to protect us from all temptation and deliver us from evil.

Pretty direct and it is direct guidance from Christ about exactly how He wants us to pray, I don't really need to go any further.

But we must be silent sometimes to listen for the answer

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
