You never talk to yourself? :whistling:

Seriously though, for that question, I will have to look some things up after I eat my dinner.

And why does the Old Testament never talk about God giving His Son for man?

The Old Testament is full of references to the promised Messiah. Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, Genesis 22 are just 3 places that prophecise Jesus.

i talk to myself all the time. :whistling: I have read all of those chapters and no where in them do i see " the son of God, Jesus Christ". And in the Old Testament is there any mentions of the "Holy Spirit"? That only appears in the "New Testament", as far as i can find. And if thats the case isnt it possible for Jesus to be able to study the "Old Testament" before He was followed by all the disciples? not trying to offend in any way. Just hoping for some scripture based answers, thanks

Isaiah 53, describes Jesus, calls Him the Arm of the Lord. Psalm 22 describes the scene at the cross. Genesis 22 is what is called a type, a depiction of a future event, not entirely depicted identically....it describes Abraham about to sacrifice Isaac on an altar. As Jesus was sacrificed for us...and Abraham sacrifices a ram, but says God will provide the lamb. Jesus is called the lamb of God. There are many more references.

The Jews expected a messiah. They even knew He was going to appear approximately when He did. They were expecting Him then. This was from their Old Testament scriptures.

A psalm that is a messianic prophecy. Note the bolded verses.

Psa 2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?

Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,

Psa 2:3 "Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"

Psa 2:4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.

Psa 2:5 Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,

Psa 2:6 "But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."

Psa 2:7 "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.

Psa 2:8 'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.

Psa 2:9 'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"

Psa 2:10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.

Psa 2:11 Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.

Psa 2:12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

that messiah still wasnt the Son of God as Jesus said he was. The Messiah that the old testament speaks of is a prohet, not the Son of God. There is only things mentioned in the Old Testament that Jesus would have been able to study in the time that we do not hear about in the Bible. And the Fact that God warns us of "Worshiping false idols". And i have another question about the Bible; Where does it mention Satan being cast into Hell? I remember the story as if it were encoded into me somehow, but i can not find it in the Bible. :whistling:

nothing of the virgin mother bearing the Son of God. I think that is very significant. only in the New Testament.

Why would Jesus talk to God, if God was Jesus?

To me there is no problem. But I needed to try and explain it to you. Well in trying to do that I found myself tongue tied lol. While here, He took the form of man, fully human as well as fully God. Prayer is communication, communion with God. Prayer would be natural I think for Him. But that doesnt quite answer your question, so I looked around for a better explaination. Which follows below.

Jesus prayed because of His relationship with the Father. John 17:20 And I do not pray for these alone, but for those also who shall believe on Me through their word. In this prayer, we see Jesus' relationship with the Father and the confidence that He has in His Father's perfect provision and plan. Jesus' relationship with the Father was the power that brought salvation to man.

Jesus laid aside His glory and took on the mantle of flesh Philippians 2:5-8 For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. While He wore that mantle, He was obedient to the Father. Jesus prayed because of His dependence upon and His obedience to the Father. Jesus said, John 5:30 I can do nothing of My own self. As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father who has sent Me. Therefore, Jesus was in complete submission to the Father.

If you are looking for a verse that says "The messiahs name is Jesus" no that isnt there. However there are so many references to Him in the Old Testament that it is clear it is Him.

Not so, as a read of the Old Testament would show you.

And the Fact that God warns us of "Worshiping false idols".

Jesus is not a false idol. He accepted worship. God the Father praised Him in an audible voice to those around Him when He was baptized and at the transfiguration.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
