I would think it would also make it easier for them to become American citizens since they are living and working in America and perhaps paying taxes. All they would have to do is apply and meet the requirements and since they are working they might have a very good chance of being accepted, don't you think? I would think it's going to make it not only easier to do that, but also more desireable.

nope, i do not work outside the home, and with any luck, i'll never have to again.

i suppose my understanding of what i read from that article could be slightly skewed. should i go back to my origional opinion of disapproving of bush's policies on illegal immigrants? probably... i'll have to look into this more thoroughly for a better understanding. if i bought into the sugar-coating of the issues in that article, i must say it tasted good for a bit.

as blindseeker pointed out though, any children born here would have dual-citizenship. not the parents, but the children. that hasn't changed. women cross the border daily to have their children here. that practice should not be allowed.

That's something I don't understand and maybe someone can help me here. If the Constitution only applies to its citizens, how does an ILLEGAL ALIEN (who, by definition, is in this country ILLEGALLY and thus is in VIOLATION of the Constitution) get afforded rights just because her child was born here? I mean, doesn't this law apply to those who were LEGAL immigrants or those who are in the process of becoming LEGAL citizens so then their children who are born here are afforded automatic citizenship, rather than go through the process they had to go through?

Help a sister out because this makes NO SENSE to me!
