I have been battling with this issue for some time now and would like to hear you on it.

We have a small fellowship and we neet on Saturdays where we start off with praise in music and song.

Technically I lead the music every other Saturday, which involves preparing a list of songs and making sure everyone will have a copy.

It is quite obvious to me that if the Spirit isn't there, nothing will get it off the ground and if the HS is there, nothing can stop it from taking off :emot-hug:

So far so good.

My battle here is, I never know if I am playing with a focus on the Holy Spirit or am I putting on a show......

Even when I do know, there is still the choice to make "should I stop right now, or does the show have to go on?"

If it was obvious I guess I would know very easily. It isn't.........

Is there anyone here who is in the same situation or something like it with a similar struggle?

Blessings in Yeshua

I think so. I play the piano and keyboards in the service, and the Pastor actually chooses the hymns and choruses; we're in a relatively small church, too. He tries to pick music that goes along with his sermon. We generally meet together on Thursday to go over the service, and we hash it out...change some things or leave them the same or whatever. Many times during the worship he will toss out a chorus or hymn we hadn't picked; that's when I can generally tell the Lord is doing something different. However, the same Holy Ghost that guided the pastor during the week as he studied and planned the service is the same Holy Ghost that empowers him behind the pulpit on Sunday morning.

Also, sensing a move of G-d seems to me to be a highly subjective thing. G-d is in the service whether we feel Him or not for we have His Promise on it. All things being equal of course.

Something else I just thought of. In the area of motivation: are we playing to please G-d or man or ourselves. On the human heart Jeremiah said it was deceitful and not to be trusted. To me that says it is very difficult for human beings to be 100% of their motivation for anything they do. All we can do is do what G-d has called us to do, to the best of our ability, and trust that G-d will always be the motivating factor.

Here you have hit the nail smack on the head!!

What is my motivation indeed ?!

All too often I feel I'm playing for my own enjoyment, which is ok except that I forget the Holy Spirit in that time.......

I guess even here we need to trust the Lord will guide us

Well, I don't know if there is comfort in it but at least I know i'm not the only one who has this struggle

In your first post you mentioned you get together with your pastor. Maybe that is something we should think of.

You see, I choose the songs without any idea as to the message that will be delivered.

We don't get together at all...... except for the meeting itself.

Definatly something to think about

Thanks Marnie, that's very helpfull :th_praying:

God bless :24:

Why not allow the Holy Spirit to lead your worship? Why not have everyone pul lout their hymnals and call a song based upon what their experience of the Spirit is that morning?

Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us would be a real Godsend :)

Trouble is, I tend to get in the way, if you know what I mean :emot-hug:

I sometimes stop the list of songs and ask if there are any requests, kind of like you suggest

Maybe I should go more into this. I'll bring it up next meeting

Thanks and blessings :)

Have a heart-to-heart with God about it! Then, as you may be given a confirmation that God has called you to do this thing, DO IT!

We don't always have to FEEL like doing it, but we are supposed to be doing what He calls us to do. Be obedient first. The Word says, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you."

So--what is it you want? Motivation? Confirmation? Excitement in the Lord? A sense of purpose? Passion? Then seek first His kingdom, and obey God! All those issues will be settled as you obey! He will add the increase you need. :)

We do that some Sunday nights. In fact, we have a Palm Sunday hymn sing tomorrow. They're a lot of fun, very stressful on me though. Some of the hymns or choruses are reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyy old.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
