I really don't see the need for the personal attacks that are getting more and more frequent here at Worthy. Like the one above. huh.gif It would seem that one who cannot debate throws insults.

I think it is up to horizon whether he takes offense to that, but it probably wasn't necessary (it didn't really help the argument dave ). Though if he did take offense, I would suggest that he look at some of his own 'arguments' .

Anyway, back on topic. I think the normal theistic answer to the question of vestigial organs has to do with the Fall, right?

BTW, I thought goose bumps had more to do with increasing the surface area of the skin... though I'm probably wrong.

Sorry, atheistreview, you are wrong. Since everyone here reads and posts on this forum, anyone can take issue with comments like those directed at horizoneast. More than one of us has made such comments, including myself. A debate is an exchange of ideas and views; you know this, I'm sure.

The OP is dealing with astronomy and not biological evolution. Of course every scientific theory will change if new evidence is presented that challenges the status quo. This is a good thing.

And yes, the theory of evolution is changing. The addition of genetics was an important change (an expansion, really) of the theory. Another change was the shift to Gould's idea of punctuated equilibria. The fossil record reflects that evolution seems to occur more in short bursts than in the gradualistic changes Darwinists originally thought. (Although these "short" bursts still appear gradual from our timescale.)

Yes, there is a range which creationists use, but that's not what you asked. You asked about how long the Bible says that man has been here, and it doesn't say, exactly. In fact, it barely mentions it, other than a few genealogical lines.

Creationists form their roughly 6,000 year number based on those lists. Personally, I don't think God has revealed that much to us yet, so I remain open to the possibility that both sides have it wrong, although I tend to side with God's Word in these matters of discrepancy.

I think He knows a bit more than mankind does.
