There is no such thing as witchcraft! Devil worshippers, yes. But those who think they have 'transcended the astral plane' or flown about on a broom, or that they can cast spells are two bricks shy of a full load. This IS 2007; this sounds like about 400 years ago. Weren't any witches then either, folks. The Harry Potter books are fiction......not a good topic, for sure, but still fiction. I don't believe these books are manuals for learning witchcraft. "Magic" doesn't exist. Some people see witches and goblins behind every bush and stump.

Well if you believe this way ...then you can't think too much of the WOG...and what it says about witches and witchcraft! ... that's cool by me...so why hang out on a Christian Discussion Board?...just asking ;)

I'm here because I'm a Christian, thank you very much, but not one who's suffering from paranoia. I don't need your approval to be here, btw. Do NOT presume to judge me or my faith; in doing so you are totally out of line, st whatever.

No need to get in a snit...I said I was Just asking...So why does one... who doesn't mind the promulgation of witchcraft... then call themselves Christian?...Seeing that the WOG says we are to hate witchcraft? ...Don't bust a vessel... :41: this is a discussion board...BTW: Which one of my words "judged" you? I must of skipped that one

So am I to assume StElswhere, that you don't approve of the Harry Potter books? Please, don't hide your feelings about it, come right out and tell us!

I'd say, they are not warm-n-fuzzy, nor would/could they be copared to a Thomas Kinkade painting.

And in answer to your first question. . . They do not fit into the last days any more than any other movie or book does. People's hearts will be the deciding factor in the last days and instead of worrying about all of America we should learn to concentrate on ourselves and our families. Missions begins in the home and back yard. The end times will happen when and in the manner that is suited to God and not man. We can not stop or forstall it, any more than we can hurry it along. Nor can we change the judgement that will be awarded to all who do not follow God.

I would love to know how many people here trick or treated as little kids. I did. Didn't change a thing about me. Except for enhancing my love for candy!

As my teens (non-HP'ers) were watching all the hype on the news about it, I told them to read this chapter of the Bible to understand how God feels about these things within a nation:

Isaiah 47

1 "Go down, sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter of the Babylonians. No more will you be called tender or delicate. 2 Take millstones and grind flour; take off your veil. Lift up your skirts, bare your legs, and wade through the streams. 3 Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one." 4 Our Redeemer--the Lord Almighty is his name-- is the Holy One of Israel. 5 "Sit in silence, go into darkness, Daughter of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms. 6 I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.

7 You said, 'I will continue forever-- the eternal queen!' But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen. 8 "Now then, listen, you wanton creature, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.' 9 Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells. 10 You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.' 11 Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you. 12 "Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror. 13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. 14 Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by. 15 That is all they can do for you-- these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you.

In His Truth,

Suzanne

i disagree. tsth sorry

Patricia, You disagree with the Bible?

Quite right Scarlet.

St.Elswhere. your posts were very judgemental toward glory2000. You can not judge her Christianity simply by what you assume she does or does not read or promote. I think you should apologize.

The kind of magic seen on television and movies does not exist. People can not freeze time, astroal project, move things with their minds, get flash backs or flash forwards by touching an object/person, make things levitate, levitate themselves, disapear or become invisible. One can not change one's self into another life form, or back from one, nor can one change their appearance simply by wanting it [that takes a team of people!]. Oh, yeah and car's don't fly unless you are the Dukes of Hazard. Did I leave anything out?

Just curious, did you choose your name, StElswhere from the 1982 pop hit tv show of the same name?

Harry Potter. A fictional character. In a fictional world. Can't Christians get in a tizzy about real issues and leave make believe where it belongs? Honestly, thing things we get wound up about!

Listen: As a man thinketh so is he...you instill in your children ...if you have any...all the satanic witchcraft you want to...when you sow to the wind ...you will reap the whirlwind... You read to words of someone who knows first hand...and you still say it is fictitious...the story maybe...but not the reality and power of the occult. :b:

Therefore you believe a witch can influence anyone he or she wishes from out of sight. I'm asking you to think, do you think a witch hidden from you can cast a magic spell that will influence everything he or she wishes for you to do without you ever knowing?

You just don't get it...it is not about fearing what a witch can do...they have no power against a child of the True and Living God... it is about staying away from what the LORD say to stay away from... if He wanted us to cavort with people who delve into "crafts" ... He wouldn't have been so adamant against it:

2Ch 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

It's about not provoking God :)

St.Elsewhere, I pm'ed you about misunderstandings, and I noticed you always sign with a ---> :b: I am wondering if this is basically your signature? That's ok, except in a debate, and especially when you are questioning someone's Christianity, it comes across as very non chalant and 'cool' in a very rude way.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
