Love the sinner, hate the sin is a cliche'. People use it all the time, but the phrase is not in the Bible. That's all I meant. I hate sin. I love my fellow man. I did not mean to give any other impression. Sorry.

I disagree with one thing here.

Although There is no scripture that says specifically to hate the sin and Love the sinner that does not mean that 'ole clche is to be ignored.

The depth of its meaning perhaps have not been studied properly. It is perhaps throughout the word of God.

For God so Loved so Loved the world.....is He saying He loves sin? no He is saying He loved people who are sinners giving them a chance to have freedom from sin through the death of His Son if chosen

For God did not send His son into the world to Judge it.......

Though I was asinner God remained to Love me and sent His son. Romans 5:8 to die for me and yet I was just a thought in Gods mind and heart.

If God hates sinners then why would he give us a avenue of reconciliation? All of us, lovers of their own flesh as well?

We should love our neighbors as we love ourselves this is the second commandment, the first being, Loving God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.

Can the second command be done without the first commandment. Absolutely not.

Although we are instructed to hate sin. Thus we should love the sinner.

Jesus did not come for the righteous, His popularity was among sinners. Others had very little need of Him or so they thought.

For anyone to allow a practicing homsexual on the pulpit I do believe hands over the pulpet to the enemy and it becomes a synogouge of satan yet if someone is stupid enough to allow this it is also that persons accoun tability and not the homosexual. I would only hope that conviction by the Holy Spirit will bring that mor guy to repentance and awareness in spite of someone in authority says its okay.

That alone is a trick to keep that man and women in bondage when it is allowed.

There that is my five cents and a sixpence. :wub:

If you committ homosexual acts, you are a homosexual. If your friend becomes a "confirmed" Christian, you should be able to see outward signs of his conversion. Like repentence. Like the forsaking of the idea that it is ok to break God's charges, commandments, statutes and laws;

Genesis 26:4-5 "And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws."(KJV)

Exodus 19:5 "Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:" (KJV)

He should know, from you if you are able, that the Bible calls homosexuality "an abomination" to God. He is very clear about homosexually, transsexuality and crossdressing;

Leviticus 18:22-30 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God." (KJV)

Leviticus 20:13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." (KJV)

Deuteronomy 22:5 "A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are an abomination to the Lord thy God."(KJV)

God specically warned Israel and thus us, in 1st Kings;

1 Kings 14:22-24 "And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel."(KJV)

God is also very specific about churches who welcome such activities.

Jeremiah 6:15 "Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord."(KJV)

Ezekiel 5:5-9 "Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.

6 And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.

7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;

8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.

9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations."(KJV)

Ezekiel 44:6-9 "And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations,

7 In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.

8 And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves.

9 Thus saith the Lord God; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel."(KJV)

Luke 16:13-15 "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God."(KJV)

It is your/our responsibilty to witness to homosexuals. It is your/our responsiblity to show these gospel admonitions to them. If they reject your/our witness over time, then you/we are bound to walk away.

Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a

testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.(KJV)

Tough love, but firm and uncompromising. That is what Christ calls us to do.

You stated: (If you committ homosexual acts, you are a homosexual. If your friend becomes a "confirmed" Christian, you should be able to see outward signs of his conversion. )

Yet God said, "If you have evil thoughts in you mind or if you sin in your mind, you are sinning!" You noted that a "homosexual has to perform homosexual acts to be homosexual." And I'm asking if you would include one views homosexual literature in the net, for instance. Or one having homosexual thoughts in their minds?

I just said this to a friend in a pm, but it bears repeating here.

God tells us to love our enemies, not His enemies. My enemy is the thief, while God

My response was in response to the OP's statement that the friend in question denied being a homosexual despite having performed the act. Do you disagree with me on that? Do you disagree that when a person becomes a "confirmed" Christian that there are immediate internal and external signs of that salvation?

Yet God said, "If you have evil thoughts in you mind or if you sin in your mind, you are sinning!" You noted that a "homosexual has to perform homosexual acts to be homosexual." I did not say that one is only a homosexual if they perform the sexual act, what I said was being a homosexual in and of itself is not a sin; the performing the acts of homosexuality is the sin. A homosexual, a heterosexual, sins when they lust or covet after anyone, looks at pornography, or any sexual activity outside of marrage.

The reason that I mentioned the phrase "love the sinner, hate the sin" being a cleche is because many Christians throw it around like it is a phrase contained in scripture. I know I did until I tried to reference it and found that it is not there. It is an example of God's character throughout scripture, one that we are to emulate if we want to be more like Christ. I was only addressing the phrase, not the action. I didn't know that it would bring such a response as I have received, but I'm glad it did. If it causes one person to think about how to rephrase the words and its meaning, then God has accomplished something with my words.

YFIC,

Rick

PS I abhorr homosexuality, and will never defend it. In case anyone think differently of me. (shutter) :):thumbsup:

I would like to hear from your personal experiences if you have Christian Friends who are Gay ? I've often heard in other Worthy Topics where people speak of their "many" gay friends. I was just wondering, if you know someone who lives a homosexual lifestyle (which we're instructed is sexual sin, along with many other types), or if you perhaps attend church with a friend who is a practicing homosexual, do you feel comfortable with your relationship knowing that the Bible forbids it!

1Cor 5:9-13 When I wrote to you before (meaning Paul to Cor.), I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin. But I wasn't talking about unbelievers who indulge in suexual sin, or who are greedy or are swindlers or idol worshipers. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that. What I meant was that you ar not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian, yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy , or worships idols, or is abusive or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don't even eat with such people.

It isn't my responsibility to dudge outsiders, but it certainly is your job to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways. God will judge those on the outside, but as the Scriptures say, "you must remove the evil person from among you." (I can only assume that we are not to associate with these type of sinners for fear that it might eventually lend itself to an "accepting" tendency, or even worse!

It is very evident that with all the recent Judicial and Legislative decision making on the "homosexual orientation" agenda, that many are becoming "desensitised" in this area of life, and it's becoming a more acceptable "lifestyle" even though we all know God's views on it.

And I do realize that we are to "LOVE" or neighbors as we love our own, so before you go off defending another scripture/verse here, I would ask that we stay on topic and on "scripture."

Thanks in advance

Any thoughts?

There is no such thing as a gay Christian. Even though a gay person might consider them self to be a Christain, they are an abomination in the eyes of God.

I fully agree. Attraction to one's own gender is a sign that one is denied salvation.

I agree.

That doesn't mean, though, that they can't be saved from their gay lifestyle.

Every time I read the title of this topic, I am astounded at the question.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
