Thanks forrest! I'll check that out. Btw, you did see that this is all your fault, right? I was perfectly fine in my delusion until that quiz of yours... :21:

Well, if it is any conciliation, Democrats are not socialists, and compared to the rest of the world's political party would be fairly centrist.

The Master Of The Art Of Government

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Man's Politics

Reject God

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

1 Samuel 8:6-7

Oops

And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.

And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

[21] And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.

And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city

God's Politics

Call On The Name Of The LORD

But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 16-21

And He Will Be Your God

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Revelation 21:3-4

And You Will Eternally See His Face

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Revelation 22:1-5

Ask To See Jesus

And Believe

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Be Blessed Beloved Of The LORD

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

She said I shouldn't be so surprised by my results because Jesus was very much for helping others (she went so far as to say he's a socialist :whistling: ).

You can tell your friend that the only form of government Jesus believes in is a Theocracy. . . . with Him on the throne. :24:

Indeed you are correct. But I would also like help with how to respond to "hot button" issues in society today that they bring up and how Jesus would respond, with biblical backup. These people I am talking about are not followers of Christ and do not read the Word (they actually have a sticker in the lunchroom that says "Protect your family from the Christian coalition. ), so keep that in mind too. :24:

I understand your struggle. My boss, whom I have a friendship with as well, is a hard-core Democrat. She hates the Republican party. I tend to just keep my mouth shut when it comes to political discussions with her. I let her vent, but I have found it more prudent to just not say anything.

The point I was making above, though, is that I do not believe the people at your work need a "correct" view of politics; they need a correct view of Jesus. Jesus was not a socialist, nor a philanthropist, nor any of these other terms we throw around - He just loved. And that is what we need to do - just love. Love God first, love your neighbor as yourself second.

Of course, note the "love God first" part. :noidea:

As far as the antagonism against the Christian coalition, I would venture to say (although they may not consciously be aware of this), that they see the Christian coalition as an attempt to theocracy America, and they don't want Jesus' rule over this land (why would they? First they must want His rule in their life!).

As much as I am sure you are wanting to answer them, I am learning that the best thing to do is to not. When they talk politics, just pray for them. When they ask you about Jesus' view of politics, just tell them that He isn't about politics - He's about your life.

Honestly, you can't place Jesus as a 21st century American. That would completely abrogate His reason for coming to planet Earth - to reconcile man to God through His death and resurrection.

The "correct government" isn't our savior. Jesus is our Savior. See the difference?

Sure, as Americans we can speak our political minds and try to influence the government. But our allegiance is first to Jesus. Would you like to see His rule over this land? It begins with individual hearts being won over to Him.

Make sense?

There is an irony in everyone's words here I think and that simply is, we Jesus isn't about politics etc. etc. etc., Jesus even said His Kingdom wasn't on earth yet the irony is that, if we say Jesus isn't about politics than why are we using Jesus to push our political agendas on people and bring about the "redemption" of America and American values? When we ourselves argue and bicker over the pettiest of things; why do we have to make politics be one more of those stupid arguements?

That's part of living in a Democracy.

Irony, isn't it?

In regards to this topic, I'd like to bring up a quote I've heard:

"We describe politics very well. "Poli" meaning many and "tics" meaning blood-sucking creatures." Politics in general is too full of blood-sucking, underhanded agenda-pushing for us to be able to honestly associate Jesus with any of it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
