Don't see how America can be the "mother of harlots." Harlots have been around for mellenia. America has only been around for a couple centuries.

And abominations have been around for mellenia, too, wa-a-a-a-y before America was even a word.

Context? The great nations (world powers) in the Bible are always symbolized by beasts (like Greece by a he-goat in Daniel).

In Rev., the harlot is riding the beast. This is more like Jezabel's control over Ahab than one more of "the great nations" ruling over the others.

Look elsewhere.

How do you see that the Catholic church controls the world's markets????

First of all it is silly to think this is speaking of anyone yet. We don't know that this time has come. We might say something like, "If it happened tomorrow the most likely candidate would be _____(fill in the blank) but the scenario has not yet come so anything we say is only speculation.

With that in mind The Vatican is an actual soveriegn nation. It has diplomats and ambassadors in every country it does business with. To receive the "blessing" of the church in your nation, you sign the Concordat. Hitler was voted into Chancellor by the Christian Democrat Party of German (catholic) within a month of signing this. Mussolini was hailed as El Duche the next day after he signed it.

This is the only "religion" that has political status.

How has Iraq made rich all that have ships in the sea? Who really epitomises the greatest economic power in the world? Who reigns over the kings of the earth??? Certainly not Iraq.

Not yet....

I can see a scenario whereby America props Iraq up as a democracy, gives it the technological infusion to become a superpower in the region, and they eventually control all the oil after a war with Saudi Arabia.

It's not that far fetched that things could change quickly in the nuclear age.

I'm not saying this is what is coming....just giving an example of how it's silly to put any faith in a scenario.

It has to be somebody else who fits these things. Think real hard!

They do have alot of power over the whole world, but nobody knows for sure who the whore is ,we can only speculate but one of these days we know..
