School Rescinds Ban On Flag Clothing

A North Carolina High School that came under national attention over their rule that prohibited students from wearing items with the American flag, or any flag from other countries, has lifted the ban.

Superintendent Dr. L. Stewart Hobbs, Jr said they have lifted the ban on flags and “from this point on, all dress code changes will be made at the school board level.”

Hobbs said the county has a dress code policy in place and says individual school dress codes are not allowed. He adds that principals cannot make a policy that exceeds the board policy, "The principal acted in good faith and said no flags."

According to Hobbs, the policy all stems from information from law enforcement of gangs wearing foreign flags as gang symbols and the board does have a policy to prevent gang signs in schools.

He said they are just as patriotic as other Americans flying the flag over the school, saying the pledge and have planned to have Constitution day at the school next week.

Under the previous rule, students at Hobbton High School were not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States.

The board will be meeting with school attorneys to look into the issue further.

I've had the misfortune to have to deal with gang-bangers and it isn't any fun. I'm quite serious about this -- they are terrorists. I liken them to rabid dogs, and rabid dogs are usually shot. They terrorized our neighborhood until a few of us got fed up and took care of the problem. There are those who only understand violence -- but honest citizens don't have to put up with it. Our neighborhood stood up, and the gang left. Nothing illegal was done, no one got shot, and we had Police help.

There's just something about living in a "open carry" state! Thugs don't like seeing everyone wearing a pistol.

i can relate to this yet hear in australia many are afraid to disturb the peace wear gangs run rapid to the point wear the police have no control yet even in smal communities like wear i use to live it was a one cop town and when groups such as the rebbels or another group would ride into town the police officer would close up shop and go to the nearest town and it was the residents that had to fend for them selves wear hear in australia we can not have a gun on our selves like it is wear in your country it is alowed for each house hold and person to have a gun

my son went threw this at a school wear he was confronted by sevral kids to the point wear he was hurt the boys that did this got off and nothing was done it took my son 3 months before he could even walk back into a school they had to move from wear they wear living and find another school wear he could be safe he knows how to handle him self i should not have taught him as i do not belive in using violence or physical force yet being in the security industry you learn a lot and have to also know how to handle your self so i had to at least teach him and he only uses this when he needs to

we are having the same problems hear and parents are talking with the teachers communities now work in with the police as we have a thing wear the police put out ads in our local paper called dob in a dealer neighbours look out for each other and even the older ones who are at home and have no one to look out for them

I was fixing to say gang members aren't so tough when their intended targets are packing too. Plus, i hit what i shoot at.

A few of the most dangerous one do Kat. Most of them initiate members by "beating" them in. They literally beat the crap out of them.
