Do you go to movies or read a well read book where the name of God or Jesus is taken in vain? Isn't it sad to think that you can't even enjoy one of your favorite actors anymore because they are performing in a moving that thows blasphemy words, cursing God and Jesus around just to make the bucks. What have we come to?

true....hard to not run in to this type stuff....as long as you understand it is wrong....hey what more can ya do :whistling:

You could...........not support them! Can you imagine how much we've hindered the movie industry alrady by not going to movies that encourage this type of garbage and vieing to purchase movies or purchaning them on satallite where YOU can control what you and your family watch. Also, you can get behind forums as this one or organization like "AFA", and get information on their latest fights against the government beaurocracy that is allowing this type of profanity, blasphemy and vulgarity..TOGETHER WE CAN DO ANYTHING.....in JESUS' NAME.

Amen.

Blasphemy is either attributing something to God's character that is not true, or denying an essential part of His character. Taking the Lord's name in vain is different (though still sinful)

I'm certain we've all done this which is why we are told "my thoughts are not your thoughts".

It's in our nature to presume personalities into place where the correct one is absent.

I am in a safe place..most of my movie and book contacts are on my seven year old level... I choose what I read if nonchristian and pray befor buying it. Normally most of my books are second hand and reccommended. I have walked out of movies because of the violence.

I do not like when I hear certain things ...BUT why should I expect christian moral behavior from one who is not a christian..duh! patricia1 :24:

 from damo1

its the same in the work situations i find my self in and often those that are not christians make sly remarks and rude ones though sevral times i have had to walk away from this as it got to the point i hated hearing the lords name being put down like this

MATTHEW 21 Jesus at the temple verse 12 -13

Jeus enterd the temple ara and drove out all who were buying there and selling there he overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves

it is written he said to them my house will be called a house of prayer but you are making it a house of robbers

and i looked at this and thought well gods son stood up and did this and got mad at what he saw was going on so why cant we make a stand

its taken me time to get to wear i am know in my walk and when things happen to wear i am thinking off what others are saying or a Blasphemy comes in mind i just ask the lord to forgive me and try my best to not be in situations wear thoughts like this come into my mind

when i am working with non christians as i have worked with guys in the cleaning

companys hear that would make you blush to some of the things that come out of there mouth i do say something when i have to but i do it in a way that is not judgmental or putting that person down and it is working very well

we live in a world wear its normal for this sort of attitude and normal to have actors doing this yet we need to get also to a point in our walk wear we are able to deal with these things as if we are to win this world over we need to think how one also might see us as i am sure we all have also blown it around non christians

while we are in church on a sunday others see us for who we are its what we are like when we are not in church

i know i have had to ask god to forgive me sevral times and often i have said sorry lord for letting you down i wil try to do it better i a human please forgive me

thanks for sharing this blessings from damo1

it is definitely offensive to me to hear that. how would I like it if someone used my name as a curse word?

furthermore, in my opinion, it is out and out evil because it is so purposeful! i mean there are any number of expletives that could be used - why that one? it makes you think.

Gee, when I was a kid my name was always used as a curse word. . . :24: Don't all mom's talk like that?

Blasphemy is mostly done out of a person's ignorance but the evil one behind them suggesting the words or action knows quite well the sin of it.

Romans 4:15

15)...because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

chapter 5:

20)The law was added so that the trespass might increase.

But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

21)so that, just as sin reigned in death,

so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What, then, is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? We need to have a clear understanding of what this sin of blasphemy against the Spirit is, and we must make sure than we do not fall into this sin.

Jesus our Savior is the Son of God. This Jesus came to this earth incarnated in the flesh of man and has saved all sinners perfectly from all their sins and destruction, but we have a choice as to believe in Him as our Savior or to reject Him. It is possible for some to say,

The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit lies in the sin of not believing in what the Triune God has done for us. This sin is related to the kind of faith that does not believe in the gospel of the water and the Spirit, and therefore to the evilest deed. Such a sin is a mortal sin that can be forgiven neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

I don't agree with this at all.

Before someone believes, they have to be told. If they're not told, how can they commit the sin of disbelief and therefore blaspheme against the H.S.?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
