The world says: "Jesus was not God, He was just a good man".

I can look at certain Scriptures and know without a doubt that Jesus was God.

The world says: "It's impossible for a virgin to have a child".

Again, I can look at certain Scriptures and know without a doubt that , indeed, a virgin did give birth.

The world says: "The stories, such as the flood, are nice stories, but are just stories".

Again, I can look at Scripture and know that it really did happen.

However, I am having trouble lately with this "inspired Word of God" thing. The world says that the Bible is "just a book, written by men, and fallible". And I can't point to any Scripture that proves to me what I've been taught all my life - that Scripture was literally breathed into the authors by God Himself, thereby making it absolutely infallible.

Help? Thanks.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I agree with LadyC!

My transulation says: All scripture is given by inspiriation of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Thank you both for that verse. Do you have any other answers for those who say Scripture was, in reality, written by mortal men who were influenced by their biases and the culture of the day? Thanks.

WIP, unbelievers are always going to argue that point. until they have had a personal experience with the Lord, you'll never convince them. and the fact that they are unbelievers is going to, in their mind, render the verses we just posted for you totally irrelevant.

BUT... there's a little bitty book by josh mcdowel called "more than a carpenter". buy it. buy dozens of copies of it if you feel inclined. interesting book that tackles the 'jesus was just a good man' theory. it takes you through all the prophecies about Christ, and points out how they were all fulfilled... hundreds upon hundreds of them... the odds of any individual in the history of the world fulfilling even a fraction of the prophecies is astronomical.

i sure hope i just recommended the right book! :t2:

here is an excerpt i found online... it is from another of josh mcdowell's books, called "a ready defense". it sounds very much like an excerpt from "more than a carpenter" (which is the only book of his i've ever read")

Read select chapters of A Ready Defense here

With even greater detail, God wrote an address in history to single out His Son, the Messiah, the Savior of mankind, from anyone who has ever lived in history -past, present, or future. The specifics of this address can be found in the Old Testament, a document written over a period of a thousand years, which contains more than three hundred references to His coming. Using the science of probability, we find the chances of just forty-eight of these prophecies being fulfilled in one person to be right at one in 10157 (a one followed by 157 zeros!).

Hello WIP :il:

Romans 9:1

I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,

1 Corinthians 2:4

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

1 Corinthians 2:13

These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

2 Corinthians 3:3

clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

1 Thessalonians 1:5

For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

1 Peter 1:12

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.

The bible was written by men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and it is therefore the Word Of God. One either believes that or one does not.

You can pray and have dreams or visions but how does one know that these messages come from God or from satan? What is our bed rock our foundation? What can we check these messages against to prove them true or false? We have nothing but the Word Of God as a standard by which all thoughts can me measured.

All praise The Ancient Of Days

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
