Folks we have to remember one thing. Once you decide to give yourself to Christ ALL SINS in the past are forgiven. Its a clean slate.

But also, Alice Cooper has a greater responsibility to take a solid stand for Christ, and to publically renounce his former lifestyle.

Alice Cooper paved the way for an entire generation of Gothic "death rock" performers. Persons such as Marylin Manson - who is absolutely Satanic - patterned themselves after Alice Cooper. I believe that it is not enough for Cooper to simply state "I am a Christian" and to change the focus of his musical career. I believe that since Cooper basically for the past 30 years has been a pattern for performers and for young people who grew up with his music, he now has a greater responsibility to speak out publically that what he was in the past was wrong, that he was deceived by Satan, and that he has given his entire life over to Christ Jesus. Such an act would completely sever his ties with his past and serve Christ's testimony to those who were misled by him.

Well, here is some food for thought. Particularly note verses 12 and on.

2 Chronicles 33

Manasseh King of Judah

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. 2 He did evil in the eyes of the LORD , following the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. 3 He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had demolished; he also erected altars to the Baals and made Asherah poles. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. 4 He built altars in the temple of the LORD , of which the LORD had said, "My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever." 5 In both courts of the temple of the LORD , he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his sons in [1] the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD , provoking him to anger.

7 He took the carved image he had made and put it in God's temple, of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, "In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever. 8 I will not again make the feet of the Israelites leave the land I assigned to your forefathers, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them concerning all the laws, decrees and ordinances given through Moses." 9 But Manasseh led Judah and the people of Jerusalem astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites.

10 The LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention. 11 So the LORD brought against them the army commanders of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon. 12 In his distress he sought the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. 13 And when he prayed to him, the LORD was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.

14 Afterward he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, west of the Gihon spring in the valley, as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate and encircling the hill of Ophel; he also made it much higher. He stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah.

15 He got rid of the foreign gods and removed the image from the temple of the LORD , as well as all the altars he had built on the temple hill and in Jerusalem; and he threw them out of the city. 16 Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed fellowship offerings [2] and thank offerings on it, and told Judah to serve the LORD , the God of Israel. 17 The people, however, continued to sacrifice at the high places, but only to the LORD their God.

18 The other events of Manasseh's reign, including his prayer to his God and the words the seers spoke to him in the name of the LORD , the God of Israel, are written in the annals of the kings of Israel. [3] 19 His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, as well as all his sins and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself-all are written in the records of the seers. [4] 20 Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried in his palace. And Amon his son succeeded him as king.

Manasseh did all he could, it seems from here, to undue the damage he had done - radically - yet if you read on in the history, you know that the damage was basically permanent. Whether the people decided they would do what they wanted, or whether his son didn't learn his father's lesson, or the mother of Manasseh's son trained her son in the way of evil, or there was something wrong with the high priest, or whatever - Manasseh is remembered more for his sin than for his repentance and attempt to reform the nation. The book of Kings doesn't even mention this, and refers to his wicked decendents as "following in the ways of his father Manasseh".

So, why did his reforms mean nothing? (This is more of an I-want-you-to-think question than an I-want-you-to-answer question.)

With this in mind - how much can we or should we truly demand of Alice Cooper? If Manasseh's radical reforms didn't mean a whole lot in the end for the nation of Judah, would a "radical reform" from Alice fare any better? What if by the subtlte reform he is able to reach the hearts of his fans?

Time and history will tell, I can guess.

Anyway, just another line of thought.

I know this is old, but this post really confused me when I saw it...

there at least as many theories as to how Vincent Furnier transmogrified into the legendary entity doomed to be revered and reviled the world over as Alice Cooper.

First and foremost of these is the story of what happened late one night while the group was visiting Dick Phillips (aka Dick Christian), their manager at the time. Phillips, a colorful character in his own right, had been urging the group to break out of their run-of-the-mill mold. That evening, just for laughs, his mother pulled out a Ouija board to do a reading. As soon as it began, however, the letter indicator began wildly skipping across the board, spelling out the name A-L-I-C-E C-O-O-P-E-R.

From that little incident, the boys concocted a tale that would only serve to enhance the Alice Cooper legend in the years to come: that Vince was the reincarnation of a young woman of the very same name--a woman who had been burned alive at the stake hundreds of years ago for being a witch!

Then again, Alice has been known to change his stories from time to time. . .

Sometimes he claims to have chosen the name because it had "a Baby-Jane/Lizzie-Borden-sweet-and-innocent-with-a-hatchet-behind-the-back kind of rhythm to it." At other times, he maintains: "Alice Cooper is such an all-American name. I loved the idea that when we first started, people used to think that Alice Cooper was a blonde folk singer. The name started simply as a spit in the face of society. With a name like Alice Cooper, we could really make 'em suffer."

I am skeptical of his 'conversion', where is the fruit of repentance? It seems like he is believing things about God, but not a believer based on interviews I have read. Alice will have to stand before God...not me...it is scary though that so many people accept these professing Christians

where is the fruit of your repentance? I can't see it from here.....does that mean it isn't real?

Unless you know that Vincent is still in sin and can prove it that statement seems hyper-critical. I don't think your single example proves much.

If he wants to warn unbelievers about the reality of Satan this could easily work in harmony with the gospel considering his audience. Also, it doesn't necessarily exclude him speaking of the cross of Christ as well.

Paul warned fellow believers in 2 Peter 2:1 "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.

Some people do sneak into Christian circles to bring in lies and teach false doctrines...we need to be on the look out for these kind of people in the Church. It was a threat in Paul's day and a threat in ours.

Until you can show me some damnable heresy that Alice Cooper is teaching I will have to rebuke your accusations against him.

You don't have any idea of the temptation that must come against him standing for the Lord in such a dark place.

He needs our prayers more than our criticism.

Lyrics from Alice Cooper's Album Dragontown 2001

I Just Wanna Be God

I'm in control

I got a bulletproof soul

And I'm full of self-esteem

I invented myself with no one's help

I'm a prototype supreme

I sit on my private throne

And run my lifestyle all alone

Me, myself and I agree

We don't need nobobdy else

I never learned to bow, bend or crawl

To any known authority

I really want to build my statue tall

That's all

I'm just trying to be God

I only wanna be God

I just wanna be God

Why can't I be God

I got no time to take advice

I want to gamble with my eternity

With loaded dice

I don't need a preacher in my face

When I'm the omnipresent ruler of the human race

Ain't gonna

Spend my life being no one's fool

I was born to rock and I was born to rule

But if I'm wrong on judgement day

I'm royally screwed with hell to pay

I never learned to bow, bend or crawl

To any known authority

I really want to build my statue tall

That's all

I'm just trying to be God

I only wanna be God

I just wanna be God

Why can't I be God

I'm just trying to be God

I only wanna be God

I just wanna be God

Why can't I be God

I'm just trying to be God

I only wanna be God

I just wanna be God

Why can't I be God

My reason for writing this is not to condemn Vincent...under the Law of God he stands condemned, the first commandment states, "You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."

My reason is so that Christians do not follow Vincent's example and think that it is ok for a Christian to live like him. His lyrics do not sound like that of a believer, they sound like that of Satan. They are from an album in 2001, after his 'conversion'. Why is he writing things like this if he is a believer?

We need to be cautious and test these things. We should be praying for him, and my criticism is so that we do not just accept this behavior and say oh its ok, he's a Christian and he is being a witness to unbelievers. You do not need to be like the world to reach the world.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
