Well, if you think about it, worship is an expression of love. If you love God, worship isn't something you do out of a command but out of love - because it is just in your heart to do so.

Now, if you need verses, all you have to do is open up the Psalms and you'll find plenty! :b:

(Um, yeah, like the poster above me said just before me!)

Greetings Whyisthat?

The movie "The Passion of Christ" would be a good place to start. I am sure your friend has heard many scriptures as to worshiping God, but the real question is WHY? It is simple for us - because God says so, but its greater than that, because HE IS WORTHY!

That should have been me and you on that cross AND your friend. Jesus laid down His life so that we could receive forgiveness for our sins. It may be that your friend has never been confronted with his own sin or his own complete worthlessness. Sometimes people have to hit bottom before they will finally look up. And when you do, you become blinded by the "light", the pure holiness of the one and only God. Everyone that came face to face with God in the scriptures fell flat on their face because they recognized their own pitiful condition and God's awesome love and holiness.

So the best thing to do would be to pray for him. Perhaps you might want to treat him to the movie. I know an awful lot of people who never realized what that cost our great God.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Hebrews 13

10We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. 11For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. 14For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. 15Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. 16But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

i feel that we must not look upon praise as something that can only be done in building called a church. We should be giving Him praise whenever we can. Your friends attendance or not at church has no bearing on praising Jesus.

All praise The Ancient Of Days

Grace to you friend,

You should Worship because," this is what I'm glad to do, I'm glad to give up all I have and follow you!"

It is Glorifying your Daddy!

The very fact that He gave you free Will and allowed you to return to Him in Christ Jesus ought to be enough.

Yet.

Great verses Dr Luke!

Also lots of good answers to this question.

Just to add a thought on this question of worship. God apparantly expects His creation to praise Him. Its not like He needs it for power--our praise or lack of praise does not enhance nor diminish Him. Being perfect He has no need of it. I believe the answer on 'why praise' is at least partly in the fact that as He is perfect in all His ways and perfect in all He is, He knows that if we are going to respond to His awesome perfection rightly---our response will be to praise and worship Him. If our relationship with Him is where it should be, praise will naturally flow. For some reason it it often helpful to ACT the way we should before we FEEL the way we should. That is why we are encouraged to praise Him as worthy even in times when we feel "dead as a doorknob".

One of my favorite ginakay is...The Lord inhabits the praises of His people! Imagine, when we worship the Lord we come right into His presence. It is an awesome thing to be in His presence. In prayer time, in worshiop service, singing praises to Him in the car...He inhabits the praises of His people. In His presence if fulness of joy...the cares of this life just seem to melt away.

God is the most valuable Being in the universe. He is worthy of adoration. Value obligates us to exalt His character and attributes in praise and worship. If there was a more valuable being, God would point to him and have us exalt that being. In reality, there is no one like Him in the universe. It is not a selfish request of God, but is the right thing to do. We are created to love, worship, and enjoy Him in relationship forever. He has intrinsic worth= worth ship= worship. He has a right to rule our lives and demand obedience as our Creator.

... does your friend believe that God exists?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
