You may be shocked :)

Matthew 24: 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before. 26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

2 Corinthains 13: 5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

2 Corinthians 11: 3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

John 6: 35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 5: 39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

1 John 3: 22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 4: 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Ephesians 1: 12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Matthew 9: Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

2 Corinthians 5: 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Romans 8: 1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit....

14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

John 10: 1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.... 7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Matthew 11: 28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Hebrews 4: 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I'm about half way through this article and.. I've thought much of the same of people who exhibit shaking and so on when people laid their hands on them. I have been weary therefore of anyone who put their hands on me and try to examine them before they touch me lol.. kind of a habit by a proverb my mom taught me from the Bible when I was young.

Good company makes you good, Bad company spoils good nature.. lol.. I'll write again when I've finished reading and given a little time to process what you've wrote.

Thanks for the article.. its really interesting :)

to poor in spirit

again with the bashing i read this and i am one of these that do walk in this gift we use this in our church and i am very apostolic one thing poor in spirit their are many of us on worthy that belive in the laying of hands and praying and so on but we do not as you like to point of force people to fall we let gods spirit do this i am going to ask a mod to keep an eye on this topic so as other brothers and sisters do not come under attack

i am very apostolic poor in spirit i learn to walk in unity with my brothers and sisters and i do not play god or try to correct people or try to open their eyes

this web sight means nothing to me its just a bunch of disgruntled people who have been taught to fear people like my self and many others in evangelical and other denominations that belive in these gifts

is this what you are trying to do hear poor in spirit create fear among your brothers and sisters in the lord and say only trust in jesus and the father

and rebuke the spirit out of our lives ? i find this a little bit offensive when a person likes to do what you are placing hear

think hard poor in spirit kings james is not the only bible to go by its been proven wrong as well my friend both new and old i have read them both and i stick with the bibles i have and i would appreciate that you do not pull those like my self down who walk in these gifts and use them in our churches and who welcome the holy spirit

I really like the article and the Bible verse they finnished with.

Matthew 7:22

"Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have cast out devils? And in your name have done wonderful works?' And then I will profess unto them, 'I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

It really makes sense to test the spirits and be aware of what you are letting into your life weither it be good or evil. And to make a decision to follow good, even if it is at the expense of not following your peers or colleges. For the path to righteousness is narrow and bumpy as the Bible says. And as my mom quotes.

1 Cor 15:33

Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

A question I have for you poor-in-spirit. What do you think of laying of hands in general and what would after effects would exhibit true and an indwelling of the Holy Spirit to you?

An observation, and a question.

Posting big gobs of scripture does little to tell people what point you are trying to get across.

I agree. One of the ways people try to confuse you is to over saturate with information.. however, this could be a good topic if we got to the real discussion here.. :)

Brother Damien, you kow that I dont think of you a freak of nature. I love you as a Brother in Christ, but I just wish you wouldn't get so upset! Why are you so upset! I was going to share this Bible verse with you so via private messaging but I want others to read it to so that they dont get upset and let the sunset with them not leting go of their anger. It really hurts me to see this.. nevertheless I will let the great Apostle Paul minister to you via his letter to the Corinthians.

Be Blessed Brother Damien, you see from these verse you have nothing to worry about!

1 Corinthians 4: 1-7

1 Accordingly, let man consider us to be ministers of Christ and attendants of the mysteries of God.

2 Here and now, it is required of attendants that each one be found to be faithful.

3 But as for me, it is such a small thing to be judged by you, or by the age of mankind. And neither do I judge myself.

4 For I have nothing on my conscience. But I am not justified by this. For the Lord is the One who judges me.

5 And so, do not choose to judge before the time, until the Lord returns. He will illuminate the hidden things of the darkness, and he will make manifest the decisions of hearts. And then each one shall have praise from God.

6 And so, brothers, I have presented these things in myself and in Apollo, for your sakes, so that you may learn, through us, that no one should be inflated against one person and for another, not beyond what has been written.

7 For what distinguishes you from another? And what do you have that you have not received? But if you have received it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?

Therefore dont let your heart be troubled by people who judge you, for there is only one judge. And he judges the heart. If your heart is well then praise God you are well! And only you and him know about that. But we are all blind in our understanding to all the mystery's of the world other than what is given to us by the Word of God.

GOD BLESS YOU :):(

I must be losing it, because I have no idea what message the OP is trying to get across.

How can a bunch of bible scriptures prove or disprove the belief in slain in the spirit. If someone were to lay hands on me I would like to stay conscious through the whole ordeal.I like to keep my wits about me in case I miss out on a blessing.

A question I have for you poor-in-spirit. What do you think of laying of hands in general and what would after effects would exhibit true and an indwelling of the Holy Spirit to you?

Hi Blien,

Scriptures speaks of the laying on of hands, but it is not the act as it is prayer to the Lord as He is the One doing the healing.

Acts 28: 8And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

1 Timothy 4: 13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Not exactly pertaining to healing with that laying on of the hands of the presbytery. I honestly do not know what that means..unless it pertains to a governing body of establishing elders and deacons, but just a reference that laying on of hands does not have to constitute an after effect.

1 Timothy 5: 21I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. 22Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

I would think this may pertain to the presbytery.. as in.. possibly do not accept someone into the ruling body quickly? I know not. Guessing again, but the reference does suggest another reason why a person would receive the laying on of hands.

Hebrews 6: 1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit.

This could go either way with establishing the governing body of elders and deacons to prayer for the sick as the one below would suggest, but leaving out the laying on of hands as if to signify that it is prayers of faith to the One that heals... not the laying on of hands. Only Jesus has been laying hands on people in healing them because He is God.

James 5: 14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

what would after effects would exhibit true and an indwelling of the Holy Spirit to you?

We should not look to any after effects for the indwelling Holy Spirit other than knowing He is in us.

Galatians 3: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Hebrews 11: 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

John 14: 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me....15If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 3: 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Ephesians 1:12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

John 20: Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

2 Corinthians 13: 5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Matthew 12: 38Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

I believe that believers should not seek after a sign since signs are for unbelievers.

John 4: 45Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. 46So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. 50Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

1 Corinthians 14: Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

I believe that looking for signs to confirm the promise of having received the Holy Spirit after coming to Jesus is not having that faith in Jesus. As you may note in the following verses below that baptism was noted for being saved, but being how this was before Jesus was taken up, the disciples were still bound to take the Gospel to the Jews first which would require water baptism to testify publicly of conversion to Christ Jesus from their old way of life of keeping the Law. I do not believe that these signs are initiated by anyone by courting with death. The Lord supply them as needed should harm befell them... and as noted here about laying on of hands.. as in casting out devils.. when the "disciples" could not do it.. Jesus said.. oh ye of little faith.. for this kind does not go out except through prayer and fasting... prayer in submission to God and fasting as in denying yourself as anything coming from yourself.

Mark 16: 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

We can see how new tongues were served for unbelievers.. or foreign Jews visiting the area as in Pentecost when they told the wonderful works of God in foreign languages. So we really have to take everything in Mark 16:16-20 in context of the times and the events that followed instead of looking at it as a guantlet or an assurance in looking for the after effects of having the Holy Spirit.

Anyway, I rest in Jesus' promise that I have received the promise of the Holy Spirit by faith for coming to Jesus Christ as My Saviour. I believe.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
