Where in the bible does it say logic is foolishness? (by the way, im going to hound you for a verse and context until i get it. just so ya know wink.gif)

just had to jump in here... 1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (NKJV)

oh, and the G-D is a jewish mannerism. lots of messianic jews on this board who don't put the o in God, out of reverence. i can't explain it properly, but they do not address God by name.

Man's wisdom never overrides God. For example, if man's wisdom tells you it is harmful to carry out biblical spanking, then man's wisdom is null and void on that issue and does not override God. If man's wisdom tells you that homosexuality is ok, then again, man's wisdom is null and void on that issue and does not override God. If man's wisdom says evolution is true and the earth is billions of years old, then man's opinion on that is null and void on that issue and does not override God. If man's wisdom tells you abortion is a great idea, then once again, man's wisdom should be null and void on that issue to someone who is walking with Christ and living for God.

Check with God's wisdom first. :) We simply are not wiser then God. The only good wisdom there is, is wisdom from God.

Viki, really the only thing you've got thats true is the fact that im not a parent.

Shalom T,

First off, my name is Vickilynn. I don't usually answer to other people's names. Please do not call me by someone else's name. It's common courtesy. If you want to shorten my name, you can call me "VL." Thanks.

And no, you are NOT a parent, and the truth is, you really have no knowledge of what you're talking about as a parent, since you are not a parent. All you have is man's logic and head knowledge, which gets you nowhere.

Man's logic is nothing? Then why are we equipped to use it? Is it just for show? Is it just to make us feel bad that we can think but shouldn't? Im sorry you feel as though you shouldn't use your brain.

Don't put words in my mouth, that's not very nice, nor is it accurate. Someone so concerned with man's wisdom should strive to be more accurate. :)

I'm saying G-d is all wisdom. Man is not. If you have a problem with that, please read your bible. Your logic is useless in comparison to G-d's wisdom. You cannot argue that man's logic is any match for G-d's wisdom. Even non-Christians know that.

Proverbs 21:

30 No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel

can avail against the LORD.

Where in the bible does it say logic is foolishness? (by the way, im going to hound you for a verse and context until i get it. just so ya know :whistling:)

I see that LadyC posted a good one. There are others. You really should look them up for yourself. It will help you in the future. I see you use this argument a lot on this board and it's not a Biblically sound one. Man's logic is limited, G-d's wisdom is not.

Isaiah 55:

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Finally, viki, my question was what some people refer to as a hypothetical situation.

Actually, that is incorrect, your question was not phrased as a hypothetical at all, it is a statement of generality and cannot honestly be answered as written. You should know that.

In that case, the person who was asked the question must come up with an answer, as if they were indeed involved in the hypothetical situation.

Only if the question was phrased as a hypothetical, which it was NOT. Please read up on the phrasing and wording of hypothetical questions.

So my question still stands.

Actually, it does not, but I'll overlook your incorrect wording and answer for MYSELF, from real life experience (not hypothetical) and not speaking for anyone else.

My question was: How often are children spanked out of anger instead of discipline?

In OUR home, our children are NOT spanked out of anger. Ever.

That is to say that the parent is so upset that he or she sees and feels no other alternative to physical punishment.

Nope.

What can be done to correct that and is it worth it?

a) Since it doesn't happen in OUR home, it needs no correction.

b) Is what worth it? Following G-d's ways instead of man's? ABSOLUTELY! There is no choice in my mind or my husband's. G-d's ways are the only right ones.

We BELIEVE in spanking as a Biblical form of discipline. We seek no alternative since G-d showed us this was the correct method.

And LadyC addressed your "annoyance" but next time, you should ask why people do it before you judge. It's a shame that you get "annoyed" at other people's reverence for G-d and their heart motives. That is something you should really pray about and ask the L-rd to give you grace. Also, it is a Scriptural thing why I do what I do and as I said before, I believe G-d's ways are always right.

Once again, it is sad to think that you fear using common sense when applied to your faith.

Shalom,

That statement is a lie. Someone who exalts man's wisdom should never distort the truth in such a manner. It eliminates all credibility. And lying is never logical.

I was not judging you at all. I was, and am, merely annoyed at how it looks on the screen.

I am sorry that you are annoyed. You shouldn't be. That is why I said you should ask the L-rd to give you grace in this area.

I ask your forgiveness if i offended you. But i dont think i need the Lord to give me grace on this one.

Yes, you have, thank you for you apology. Yes, you obviously so need grace if you are "annoyed" at other Christian's reverence for G-d. Just ask Him and He will give it to you. You will no longer be "annoyed" at the way people reverence G-d.

thanks... my brother-in-law and his wife are here for the holiday. i'm having a hard time letting go of some resentment towards them over some things. i was hoping my oldest would be here today, so i'd have someone to talk to without having to 'make nice' all day, but she couldn't get permission from her staff sgt to leave town.

LoL really? All i have to do is ask and i'll no longer be annoyed?

God, please let me not be annoyed by the phrase "G-d"

....

...

Nothin'. Still annoyed.

Christainity doesnt work like that. God isn't the Wizard of Oz. If im annoyed at something i just have to get over it. Plain and simple.

The use of logic is not a lie. Many Christians are afraid to question their faith. The question lingers "What if i'm wrong?". Therefore they dont even go there. They just live their lives. I've seen it first hand. I grew up Christian, in a family full of Christians, in a church full of Christians.

Do you understand the gift of the Holy Spirit and being Spirit led? Yes indeed, all you have to do is ask and submit to the Holy Spirit working in your heart.

John 14:15-21 (New International Version)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
