It's very easy for homosexuals to spread AIDS, but in comparative terms, everyone is equally at risk without taking basic precautions. In my opinion, teaching safe sex in school is far more effective than teaching abstinence. Let's be realistic, young people are not going to abstain, so teaching them how to be safe is absolutely essential.

Thats completely false. Plenty of young people DO abstain. The ones that don't deserve whatever diseases they get. We don't give up on teaching morals just because some people don't have any.

Yes, you are right, plenty do, statistically its 1 in 20 that do abstain until marriage. Nothing new with that either, its been 1 in 20 that wait until marriage since the 1950s. Which is exactly what comprehensive sex education that includes both abstinence and contraceptive use is essential.

Was there anyone who "abstained"? :o

;) Public School sis  No, but the idea didnt even come to mind at that point :rolleyes:

Sweetie, I didn't assume it was in a private school! I can't even fathom that happening.

I wonder, if you had said, "I prefer to abstain from this lesson", what the teacher would have said?

Probably, "Too bad, take a beaker and a slip of paper anyway." :24:

David, brother, if we teach our children that abstaining is of the LORD, and partaking is a sin, focusing on their relationship with the LORD, then they will abstain from the sin of pre-marital sex.

Like I said before...the other 19 deserve whatever they get. If they wish to be rebellious and outside of the will of God then so be it...reap the rewards! I'm not gonna teach them "safe" ways to be in sin. Sin is dangerous and it leads to death.

It's too bad that young people (and ones old enough to know better) aren't taught to control urges that aren't healthy. To assume that a youngster is going to have sexual relations is backwards. I have taught my daughter what God expects - to abstain until after marriage. But I do assure her that if she makes a mistake, God will forgive her and that we will not stop loving her and, if there is a baby, we will love that little one, too.

He's actually right. Homosexuals as a group are not more susceptible to AIDS, but their sex practices CAN and DO make them more prone to getting it. Just as straight people who have anal sex- they are more prone to getting it as well. Without getting too detailed- the tissues involved with anal sex are weaker and thus tear easier which makes contracting the disease easier.

That doesn't mean that regular sex is any more safe, but the other kind can increase the chance of contracting the disease twofold.

Some teens will abstain for those reasons, some will abstain for different reasons, and some will let it fly right over their heads. Simply "teaching" is not enough. They have to decide for themselves, and committ fully and complete until they are married to their spouse. Unfortunately, we live in a society that makes this ridiculously difficult, and many succumb.

Amen. It seems that just about everyone I know has done *something* of this nature, and those who haven't seem to keep quiet obviously.... maybe it seems so much more prevalent becuase I've had friends who have had done things in this area, and things haven't worked out between them.... To say the least, there have been many problems. I also just found out that a dear friend of mine has HPV because she thought that this would solve all of her problems.

Children (around the teen years) about these things, and most importantly, what the bible says.

As many know, my parents aren't Christian, but being a teenager, we had a lesson on this kind of in sunday school... what the bible says "GIGO" stands for "Garbage In, Garbage Out" and it was a huge blessing... I remember this one illustration dealing with a rose. It basicaly goes that everytime you have a boyfriend (or girlfriend depending), or when you "love" someone, you basically give a peice of your heart to them. You give them a pedal from that flower. The same with the guy after that, and the guy after that. The question is, what's going to be left when you find the person God has for you to marry.... what is going to be left on that rose? What are you going to have to present to him? How much of your heart can you give to him?

It needs to be taught from a biblical standpoint and children DEFINITLY need to be taught to serve the Lord with their lives. If they don't have Christ, there isn't all that much good (while there is some for sure) in even teaching about this. The thing about sins of this nature outside of marraige is that the only awy to overcome it for hte most part is through Christ.... what good is the works of this flesh? *shrugs shoulders* Just my opinion.

The problem is what about their kids. Say a teen contracts a sexually transmitted disease and gets pregnant, then they are not the only ones reaping the rewards.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
