Some people use prayer journals.

I was wondering, if any of you use a prayer journal.

How do you create and use it?

Thanks!

there is an absolutely fantastic little journaling program that is available at no charge that you can download. it's full of great features. you can create as many journals as you want, and password protect each one. it's great if everyone in the family wants to use it. here's a link to it.

Dear Nebula,

I have been journaling for about 7 years I think? But, it's not anything fancy or complicated. I just use a plain ole ruled spiral. I put the date at the top of the page and I section my journal. The top line is the date and titled Praise I then write words of praise and worship to my Lord. Either what I have on my mind and heart, or I use Scriptures that describe how the Spirit is moving me that morning. Psalms is the most common. It is also good to write these verses down, as they are more memorable to me, when I write them.

My next section is Confession or Repentance , whichever one you want to title it with. This section is NOT recorded on the paper, but only in my mind and heart. These things are between myself and the Lord, and as He has said they are as far away as the east from the west. I do not care for anyone to see this part.

After the Confession portion, then is the Requests This is pretty explanitory.

Then the Thank you Lord section. This one is really neat, because for any prayer that has been answered, it is posted under this part, with stars in the margin, to signify a specific answered prayer. The more stars I post in the margin the bigger the request and answer were!!! 6 stars!!!!! that's a BIG ONE!!!! Maybe someone got saved! Or a miracle happened! Just depends. I do want to say that EVERYTHING I am thankful for goes in this section, not just the answered prayers. Just any thankfulness for anything I want to write down.

(I also do hope that after I am gone, my children will have these journals, as a sort of spiritual faith journey diary of our lives. Every significant moving of the Lord in our family and around us, ends up being recorded in this journal. By the time it's all said and done, there would be a pretty complete picture of how the Lord shaped my and my families lives.)

Then once I am finished with my journaling, I get on my knees and pray the things I wrote about, with my open journal in front of me.

Anyway, that's what my journaling is like. I have to say that journaling totally changed my prayer life for the better. I really enjoy the meditation on the Psalms too, when things are tough.

Hope that helps.

In His Love,

Suzanne

I just use a plain ole notebook and write. Whenever.. I carry it to school, and use it whenever I need to. I don't even set it up.. I just write in it whatever I need to, even if I am jumping all over the place. God knows what i need.. so I don't feel like I have to set it up any specific way.

we have prayer journals here.....

I have been using one off and on for several years....

I like the PROJECT planner type, gold fiber AMPAD....

they are already set up the way i like them set up..... ( not the flip over type but more like the regular spiral. )

they have a place for a date, and also two lines that a person can list their old and new testiment reading they have done.... there is a column on the left we use for prayer concerns, and then the rest can be used for all notes, and prayers and thoughts and sunday schoo lessons and service subjects and dreams and and and ....

i used one prior to going to the persian gulf, and listed dreams, feelings, prayers, and also any and all complaints and such...

believe it or not, God can even leave you answers to concerns and such in your journal....

one day in peticular, i started venting, I was just spilling my guts into my pen....

complaining and complaining and griping and such...... and well, was not really paying attention to what I was writing other then I know i was totally down and fumming......

the next day i woke up and i pulled it out from under my matress to put it away in my locker, i glanced in it to see what i had writen the day before... and it had the answers to the problems I was having with my command..... the answers were written in my hand, but they were not my words at all..... I did not write them thru my mind what so ever......

during this time in the gulf, i had no one I could trust to talk to, no, not even the chaplain...... so i relyed on the only friend I knew would not betray what had been shared, and that friend is Jesus....... I wrote many letters to the Lord, I would spend many hours as far forward as I could go, would sit infront of the missle house, and sing, pray and study and watch the dolphins play in the wake.....

no one bothered me there, cause that was sea sick region..... any one suseptible to seasickness stayed as far aft and down as they could go.... smooother riding... lol

use a journal....

put anything you want in it... poems, dreams, thoughts ideas, you name it, it goes in.....

My journal is just a plain ol' spiral bound notebook. The only formatting I do with it is the date of the record (i.e., if I were to record today it would be 3/21/04)

I guess there's as many ways to do it as there are believers...lol

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
