Excerpt from:

Ten Lies the Church Tells Women

By J. Lee Grady

The most common mistake we make in biblical interpretation occurs when we take one isolated verse and build a doctrine around it - even if the verse seems to contradict other passages. This is often what we do with 1 Tim. 2:12, "I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man" (NASB).

Most theologians believe that this passage was addressing an isolated situation in Ephesus. They came to this conclusion after studying the myriad of references in the Bible to women in spiritual authority. The Old Testament records that Deborah was a judge over Israel, and God blessed her leadership in battle (see Judges. 4-5). Other women who held authority over men include Miriam, Huldah and Noadiah.

Jesus issued His first gospel commission to women (see Matt. 28:1-10), and both men and women were empowered to preach on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). Priscilla, Chloe and Phoebe were leaders in the early church, and one woman, Junia, is called an apostle by Paul (Rom. 16:7).

The promise of the prophet Joel was that "sons and daughters" would prophesy after the Holy Spirit was given to the church (Joel 2:28, emphasis added). Yet we have taken one misunderstood verse from Paul's writings and used it to negate hundreds of other passages that support the full release of women into ministry.

Decision making... as apposed to teaching. That's the difference. Anybody can teach, and with all honesty anybody can make decisions. But, I don't know why, but i believe that God would have men lead, and women under that leadership.

And so how do you explain Deborah?

Thank you, JIG2 and S&L.

How sad that so many women have bought the lie that ministry over the back yard fence, or at the kitchen table of someone in need is somehow not as glamorous or important as standing behind a pulpit.

Unfortunately, even the church has bought into the world's attempt (and the world has succeeded) at diminishing and invalidating the beautiful good given role of "woman". The world has tried (and succeeded) to make no distinction between male and female, has brainwashed and lied to females who now are helplessly lost and miserable in what they thought was supposed to make them happy. (you can have it ALL! You are JUST AS GOOD AS A MAN!! You don't HAVE TO STAY HOME AND BAKE COOKIES!".) Even a recent President's wife spoke publicly with sarcasm and disdain for women who chose tradidional roles. Not only was that traditional role misrepresented as 'worthless' and 'boring', but none of the exciting and important parts of it were encouraged. Satan is alive and well in getting rid of the differences between man and woman, and it is sad that the church is following right along.

How many men have paid calls to hurting parishioners and held their hands and cried with them and held them? Few men are equipped with the ability to nurture and would be extremely uncomfortable offering that much needed ministry. There are reasons that God set things up the way He did, and it's not because he wanted to be mean. He had a perfect plan, and knew which of His creation was better at what. Nurture is the cornerstone of life, family and ministry, and now the women are being told they should be out there as Preachers, Evangelists, Careers etc(don't you dare let anyone tell you you can't do what a man can do!!!!" :) ), so who is the nurturing in the world left to? And it's just going to keep going downhill.

Say 'hi' to your wives for me, and give him this - :):t2::t2:

What do you suggest I tell my daughter when she says "I want to be a (fill in the blank)"? Am I to say "Sorry, honey, you're a girl. Girls can't do that."

Amen to that one! :)

Being a self-made business woman myself, actually I prefer to throw leg of lamb on the grill when I'm at home, as opposed to baking cookies!

I understand that but how can a "Christian" accept what God Himself says is an abomidation? I think that there are some "Christians" out there who need to step back and give themselves a reality check and really examine their reasoning in condoning this.

If someone is preaching the Word of God and their lives do not reflect the values that God upholds (concerning homosexuality espeially) then how can we allow them to defile the pulpit? Homosexuality is a sin and the Bible is clear on that. If a man or woman is preaching God's Word and they openly or even in the closet practice such activity then they are sinning against God. Would you want to condone this sin? I wouldn't.

I believe the Word of God is forever growing. Jesus taught this during His time here. It makes no sense why the teachings of God would not adapt to todays world. Women who have a gift for teaching must be blessed by God or they wouldn't have the knack. It is up to us to adapt. It is not stated that it is sinnful for women to teach. But it is stated that it is sinnful for homosexuals to practice their deviant form of pleasure.IMHO

I don't know anybody that would, papasangel, except other homosexuals . . .

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
