I worked 30 years at one place and they gave me a retirement, so I have an income and don't have to work. I worked for the state this winter for a while, until they downsized us. Now I spend my time as a hopice volunteer, and grandparent, and I have been spending a lot of time in the hospital with my mother.

I was frustrated by being downsized as I kind of liked the job, but in retrospect, I would not be able to do the things I am doing if I was still working. God knows best doesn't he.

I still am not sure what I want to be when I grow up. I never really had any aspirations as to what I wanted to be, I just want to do what the Lord wants. That in itself is pretty easy and at the same time the hardest thing in the world. Partly because I don't know what He wants me to do and it takes patient and trust to wait on Him. I figure He will show me when the time is right.

When I do have a plan and it does not go well, I usually get frustrated and angry. Then, lol, I have to repent and realize that God is still in control. I have had children in baghdad for about a year, my mom has had 4 or 5 strokes and two heart attacks, my dad can be hard to deal with. My other son works out of state and I seldom see him. But you know what, at the end of the day it is wonderful to know that God is still God. Nothing changes this fact, not wars, not rumors of wars, not pestilence, not if everyone around me denies Him. He is still God. And that is my comfort and that is what gets me by.

Maybe you are not as loss and confused as you think, maybe you are a work in progress. It is hard to see what you will become when you are a work in progress, but God is still God.........

I was an insurance agent for 17 yrs and now work for an attorney. I feel like there is something else that I should be doing but I am just not sure what it is yet. I have ask that the Lord would reveal to me what he wants me to do with the rest of my life. I keep thinking real estate but I need him to comfirm this. i don't work. i used to, but when i married mark, he preferred me to stay home and raise the kids, and help care for my incapacitated father (who at the time lived next door to us).

now we've moved, my father has died, and by the end of this summer, i will have an empty nest.

maybe i'll finish the book i started years ago. or maybe mark will start taking more over the road runs and i'll go along for the ride. the only thing i know for sure that i will be doing is continuing to raise public awareness through the media for the cause i advocate, and continue campaigning for legislative changes.

what happens when nothing goes to plan?

Re-reading your post, I noticed this question and thought that I would address it since I don't think it has been yet . . .

The short and sweet answer is "You move on!"

I started at my high school radio station when I was in 10th grade. I stayed with it through high school and it was the most fun I ever had. I knew that this is what I wanted to do for a living. After a stint in the Marine Corps (during which I got married and had a child) I decided I was going to pursue my dream and I enrolled at one of the premier broadcasting schools in the nation. Everyone told me how good I was at it and that I would go far. After graduation I immediately got a job working for a small station in northen Michigan. The problem with radio, like any other area of the entertainment industry, is you have to "pay your dues" first. You don't just graduate school and then go get a job in New York or LA making six figures. You have to go to some small market town, making about $15,000. a year and work your way up.

Well, I did it for three years, and was barely able to support my wife and child. She had to take a second job working opposite shifts (so there would always be someone home to watch the baby) and so we never saw each other except 1-day a week (I worked six days). The financial and seperation strains became a great burden on our marriage. I sent out resume after resume to other larger market stations, but didn't get a single interview. My boss refused to give me a raise. I had no choice but to get out.

It broke my heart, but I had to do it. My life long dream, which I thought that I had realized, was shot out of the water. That was in 1987, and sometimes I still miss it. But it just wasn't meant to be. Obviously, that wasn't the calling that God had for me. But you just move along. You pray, and you ask God's guidance and what he wants for you.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
