Jackie, please, if you could, would you post those times when anyone has said that "doing" or not doing any of those things is sinful? I don't really know who you may be refering to about not listening to certain types of music? And truly, did anyone here on Worthyboards tell you that you should follow their rules instead of God's? I truly don't see anyone here trying to put other's in bondage to laws that are unnecessary.

God's word does clearly tell us that we are responsible for our actions causing other's to stumble. To behave or dress in a manner that would cause someone else to stumble is a sin.

Matthew 18

6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Romans 14

19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.

Loving God's law is the peace. Following in his precepts is the freedom.

Psalm 119

164 Seven times a day I praise you

for your righteous laws.

165 Great peace have they who love your law,

and nothing can make them stumble.

166 I wait for your salvation, O LORD,

and I follow your commands.

Have you ever read all of the laws in God's word, not just the ones in the New Testament, but the Mosaic Law? YIKES! The freedom we have is that we can not possibly follow all of those laws, however, we are free in Christ to do our best to follow the laws Jesus Christ asks us to and let the Blood of the Spotless Lamb cover the rest. We are to follow God's laws because we love him.

You follow laws every day. Why? Because you are commanded to by your state. Do you break those laws? Sure. We all do. [i exceede speed limit on a regular basis  ] The difference between God's law and human laws is that if we break God's Law and ask forgiveness, we are forgiven. The punishment is paid. We are FREE! Do you understand?

Shalom Bibs,

Only seeing your reply, but it's am excellent one. You are so right on and Scripturally-based about this. I wonder at the arguments. :)

No need to wonder. :24: I posted my 'argument' against this just up a couple posts. I don't know if jackie has another answer but this is my feeling on the subject. I believe it is also scripturally based. Your results may vary...

Shalom Red,

I wasn't addressing you at all, but Bibs' reply to an argument and THAT is what I'm wondering, not about you. I believe the Scriptures and comments posted by Bibs are correct. Your results may vary. I've read your posts, but I don't agree. Simple as that.

There's nothing wrong with differing views. The problem comes in when they are attached to personal attacks, which is why some people ignore other's posts.

Shalom,

I also WONDER how some of the same people that are condemning playing the Lotto and calling it sin when the Bible does not are being the "Legalists" they are condemning in THIS thread.

If someone rails against so-called legalists for pushing THEIR personal views on others, and then turn around and do it themselves (for example playing Lotto), they are worse than legalists in my book, they are hypocrites.

Jackie has tried VERY hard to find things that are not there and coming to wrong judgements, and attacking and condemning us based on how she has created us to be in her mind. I am guessing she never answered this and never will. (I have her on ignore) I really think she WANTS to believe us to be telling her she cant wear pants, or etc., etc. She argues based on that, except...NONE of us have said that! :whistling:

I dont know who said this, but ths sounds like the concept of if a man lusts that is his fault, so why should I make any effort to be modest?

It has nothing to do with that. Modesty has been upheld.

To have the attitude of placing all the blame on the man is a hostile attitude, lacking in fruit of the spirit, and not one of making every effort to live in peace with others.

That is not the 'attitude' that has been presented.

I am going to put forth an effort to dress and carry myself modestly, and if a man still lusts, oh well. I tried.

Exactly. Whether the attire is a burka, dress or jeans. Modesty has never been an issue.

I have her on ignore

To be quite honest. If we wish to ignore another, that is our right, it is also a feature here. Some of us though are strong enough to ignore another without using such a feature. That being said:

I find it highly offensive when people go around publically stating they have someone on "ignore".

For whatever it may or may not be worth...

An attitude that shows fruit of the spirit~

dressing modestly out of love for brothers in Christ.

----------------------------

An attitude that is hostile and does not show fruit of the spirit~

welll he must be a pervert and that ain't my problem!

-----------------------------

I love my brothers in Christ, and it is my desire not to place a stumbling block before them and help them keep a pure mind. I shall do my part, (reasonably that is, I wont be wearing a burka) and the rest is up to the man.

Shalom Emily Anne,

AMEN and AMEN Sister!! :whistling:

Hi Vickilynn,

Perhaps we should try and keep each thread separated. For myself, again my weak conscience is showing, but I do find it highly offensive when someone drags things from thread to thread.

Shalom Emily Anne.

You have that correct. And that is a continuing source of misconceptions and perpetuating arguments. The ignore feature is very helpful BTW, I pray that more people use it rather than continuing in personal problems. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
