well, said Leonard ... I'm not a democrat either (i'm not even american ... does it count if you are an american "at heart") but if i was an american i would be a republican.

as a canadian living in ontario, i find that i would definitely move toward the west to live in a much more conservative district ... say alberta. ontario is very liberal minded. the liberal views in my province feel more like "chains" around my freedoms and choices go figure eh.

Not necessarily on the Christian community in particular. The liberals want everyone's kids in government schools so they can be "properly" programed with their way of thinking.

Having been in education in various capacities, I have developed serious reservation about homeschooling, and have found kids who are home schooled loose out in many ways developmentally as well academically.

I favour sending your child to Christian school. -even if its a Catholic one. ooops

We are made by God to be in community, and children grow best in a healthy community of peers.

Given the overall agenda in Calif.,plus it was a Christian couple and the court ruled that the Christian based home school institution they worked out of did not meet the state standards. Here in Ohio I believe a program has to meet certain standards before it can begin to enroll students, so that they can sit for exams and recieve a valid diploma. Assumng Calif. works the same way, one would have to wonder why the court picked this praticular couple and the christian based home schooling program they were using. The couple is also appealing on the grounds that their religious concerns, regarding the homosexual, bisexual and transgender programs forced upon students, were not considered by this lower court.

My thinking here is that the government thru the courts is looking for a precedence and specifically targeted a christian home schooling network.

Assuming Calif. works the same way, one would have to wonder why the court picked this particular couple and the christian based home schooling program they were using.

With my daughter, she attended class one day a week to turn in her work, take exams etc. in order to receive her diploma.

Actually, as I recall, it rules against homeschooling by parents who are not properly qualified. I believe that parents wishing to homeschool their children must have a teachers certificate of some sort.
