A record 429,649 foreigners came to live in Canada last year, the interior ministry said Friday, claiming the success of the government's program to bring in immigrants to address labor shortages. "These numbers show that our immigration program is responding to Canada's needs, particularly our economic needs," said immigration minister Diane Finley.

But the opposition liberals accused the government of inflating the figures with temporary workers and students. According to the ministry, almost 30 percent of those admitted to the country in 2007, some 178,000 people, came on a temporary basis.

More than 251,000 permanent residency permits were issued in 2007, within the target range of 240,000 and 265,000, the ministry added.

The figures were released as the conservative government announced plans to "speed up the processing of permanent resident applications, ensuring shorter wait times and making Canada's immigration system more competitive."

More than 900,000 foreigners are currently waiting for the immigration ministry to process their applications to come to Canada. Some have been waiting up to six years, conservative lawmaker Paul Forseth admitted to parliament.

But opposition lawmaker David McGuinty charged that the new plans -- on which no details were given -- were intended to "considerably reduce the number of newcomers."

He also said Friday's "falsely inflated" figures were trying to distract from that.

Canada, like many other western nations , has legalized abortion.

As a result our birth rate has dropped appreciably so that we are about EVEN - with a O population growth.

What a shock !!!!!!! :emot-crying: duhhhhh

Becuase population is dropping - for instance, School Districts are closing schools en masse. The School District I was working in last year closed 3 Elementary Schools and merged 2 High Schools.

O - ZERO- POPULATION GROWTH IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY. NOT GOOD FOR THE VIABILITY OF A NATION.

As a result Canada has relaxed its immigration policies.

In the last 7 years there has been a deluge of immigrants into Canada - because of

the Canadian life style,

he high standard of living ( homes are affordable, there jobs, 'free' public education, plenty of food, low crime),

the 'relatively' Free Enterprise system,

the Constitutional protection of Human and Civil rights,

Socialized medicine ( [i]mark that***** - its inferiour to the USA's & Japans however)

. . . ..- all of which are lacking in most of the countries the immgrants come from (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE USA and the UNITED KIGDOM, of course)

Here are the stats for the top 10 counries from the recent census polls ( for 2001 -2007)

Mainland China - 155,000

India-129,000

Philippines - 80,000

Pakistan 58,000

USA 39,000

So. Korea 36,000

Romania 28,000

Iran 28,000

United Kigdon -26,000

Columbia - 25,000

This is Canada's answer to the consequences of legalized abortion, IMO. (The same is happening over here in Japan where I live now )

Its fine: may the immigrants settle and prosper -

It has been a tremendous opportunity for Christian outreach In Canada and THAT is definitely the upside - rather than send the missionary to the mission field: the mission field has come to the missionary.

And with fewer people they have to raise taxes to make up the difference right? Seems to be the same problem here in the U.S. Since we are too busy aborting our children why not import them from nations who DON'T or can't afford to abort their children. We've got roughly 12 million "undocumented" immigrants here that Canada is welcome to.

I think a lot of the U.S. citizens moving there are doing so either because they are fed up with the U.S. Govt. and the uncertain future with who will be president because let's face it we all know it's either going to be Hillary or Obama and that presents a huge problem the U.S. has never had to deal with and that is either a Woman or a Black Person running the country and to a lot of people they see this as a lose lose situation then you have those who are going to Canada because they hear they have free health care which isn't totally true and they think waiting times in the ER in the states is bad they haven't seen anything not to mention that are some places in Canada that don't have enough doctors to care for all the patients that show up at the slightest sign of a cold because after all it's free so why not?? Some towns are so bad that they have to hold a raffle type event just to see who gets to see a doctor.

So while things may seem better on the outside the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
