Atheists: When you think of celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Heath Ledger, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Anna Nicole Smith, River Phoenix etc, etc, etc they are obviously missing something. What do you think it is? In purely materialisitic and evolutionary terms, they certainly do or did 'have it all', right?

What about people like Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King. Did they have something the above people did not have?

What is 'it all'?

Would the first list of people have fared 'better off' if they had what the second list of people had?

What are your thoughts?

no, lindsay lohan hasn't died. but she's on the same path the others on that list were on.

Strangely, I just had a conversation with a friend of mine where we were debating the merits of seeking material fulfillment. He's not a Christian, but he seems to think it's impossible to achieve true happiness through just 'doing what makes you happy' or 'fulfilling your dreams'.

I'm still a believer, I just wanted to comment.

I'm not an atheist, so I hope u don't mind if I sneak in hea

God causes his sun to shine on both good and bad alike - both believers and non believers. I've always pondered on peoples last moments before they leave this earth and the only thing I can come up with is that only God knows the hearts and minds of men.

At a glance, the people on the second list are visionaries and crusaders. Visions that came directly from God perhaps.

I pray that the Lord will give us all a vision for without hope we perish.

Not really sure what you mean by 'purely materialistic and evolutionary terms, they certainly do or did "have it all"'. Seems like that encompasses quite a bit. Can you expand on that?
