Whereas I agree that we are all sinners, it is the duty of all church leaders to preach about the consequences of living a sinful life. I am sorry that your son can't see the error in fornication, but that comes under the category of sexual immorality, which is a nono. This church sounds like one of the emergent type of easy believing and ear tickling variety.

Any pastor who is afraid to stand in front of an assembly and tell that assembly that fornicators will go to hell. is not fit to be a pastor. It flies in the face of Paul's teaching in 1Cor.6:9 as one example. No one, IMO, can live a sexually immoral life and still claim to be a saved christian.

Jesus said to the jews who believed Him,. "If you abide in my word, then, you are truly my discioles and you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. So if anyone deliberately carries on in sin after they have been saved they are still in bondage and in dire need on repentance. God's love is unconditional, but salvation is provisional, or there would not be so many "ifs" in the bible.

But that is only my take.

And a rightful one, as I see His words. I have often thought that this church is an emergent church.

Sorry, Onelight if my post came off as ,shall we say liberal, for lack of a better word. I just came out of a church that was just the opposite of the one you mentioned. The preacher taught the unadulerated Word of God, but TOTALLY lacked brotherly love. Instead all I saw was judgement, condemnation, and selfrighteousness. If they didnot think you were good enough you were shunned by the leaders of the church. Gossip ran rampent through the office while preached against in the pulpit. So I too left that church after many years becuse of the hypocrise, I can fully understand your position. So while my church lacked love and forgiveness, yours lacks unadulterated Word being taught. IMHO neither church is doing what the bIble has called the shepards to do. Thank you Lord that I now found a church that preachers the Word and loves the brethern.

good post Stacey c. There has to be the right balance. I don't think that a pastor or leader should adopt a fire and brimstone approach across the pulpit, but they shouln't water down the gospel, for fear of hurting people's feelings for preaching the truth, either. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom prov 1:7. Nowhere in the bible, that I have noticed, does Jesus sugar-coat His message, but He spoke authoratively. He spoke the unadulterated truth, to whom ever He was addressing.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Three passages come to mind...

1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this? 3 Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present. 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, 5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.

6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast

I have been going there for about 8 months and have only heard them preach against sin once, and just one sentence. They talk about where the church is going and the prophesy that has been spoken to them about a revival at a near by college that will touch the students. I also have only heard them give an alter call once, but not after preaching repentance or salvation.

Have you asked the Pastor about it?

I haven't read all the answers brother but based on your original post, I'd say that this church has problems.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
