Something finally struck me so I have to say this in regard to the original post I really find this question very odd coming from a fully mature christian well grounded in the word.I know all about people in the old testament having wives and concubines and dozzens of kids but jesus addressed that. Now was it you that said YOU would or could never marry again if divorced, yet you have no problem with multipule marriage. I find that odd for a fully mature Christian. I'm not saying you are not, just VERY ODD. YOu asked a legitimate question but one very sensitive to a fully mature Christian so you must have been prepared for a negative response but you are not scripturally prepared to defend your position and resist most attempts to answere your post.

Have you asked your pastor or elders this same question and what was their response? If not, please do so and inform us of the results, i Would be most interested to hear back.

I am truly distressed at the taking apart of these families!!! If marring 15yr olds and having more than one wife is the worst thing going on there... Geez bring their families back together!!!! Please share with me the terriblness of these things because I guess j am missing something.

First, the most glaring difference between what Joseph Smith preached, the LDS version of polgamy, and the FLDS version is that there was a gene pool of thousands of women to marry and have children with. They didn't marry their wives' children or their brothers' children. Or their brothers' wives. There was no inbreeding. No incest. It is the opposite for the FLDS. Everyone is on a compound. Comings and goings are restricted. The same women are being impregnated by the same men over and over. There has to be inbreeding. There is most likely incest. There is most likely child abuse. I think that is why many are refusing to accept the "religion" explaination and "theology" excuses.

Second, can someone provide positive proof, not just reteric, that anyone's constitutional rights have been violated. Not just which rights or a discription of the rights in question but an evidentuary discription which would convince a person, ignorant of the circumstances we are discussing, that rights have been violated.

Brandon, I would check history before making that statement. It was a very small group that Joseph started with and he had no problem taking other peoples wives no matter who they were. If you really believe there was no inbreeding you would be wrong by my studies.

The polygamy cults in arizona, the same flds groups, are highly incestous. Nieces marrying uncles etc.

What a load of garbage. Read the testimonies of the women who have fled the flds. Read their stories of oppression and abuse. Then tell me they are being cared for.
