Proverbs 31:27 She watches over the ways of her household,

Revisiting Motherhood

(Our roles ordained by God)

I am reminded (by a certain request  ) that women are losing their identity and purpose in this day and time. I am deeply saddened by the current day trend of promoting surface beauty, rather than the intended beauty that comes from a woman who serves her Lord, and therefore resides in the boundaries and pleasant places that are set for her to claim, by God.

Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Young ladies are forfeiting their inheritances, by not understanding the glorious riches that the Lord has set for her, by abiding in the proper place He has given her within the home and family. Ladies, you have a most hallowed job and responsibility, in the nuturing and bringing up the armies of the Lord (The Families of God). Mother's, you must realize how awesome your job is, to foster the growth of your children and even husbands, in the Lord. We must take hold of what the implications are of being a godly woman and the wife of noble character.

So, as I read Proverbs 31, I wanted to capture what part of that Chapter, seemed to be the most overlooked responsibility of mothers in this day and time, and it was this one:

:27 She watches over the ways of her household,

Are we watching over the ways of our households? Fathers/husbands, are you enabling your wives to do so? Are you making a way for the mothers to be able to stay home with their children, and watch over them and their ways/the ways of the household? Or, have we put ourselves in bondage to our things, more than raising up godly families?

Oh, to support our husbands and give them the respect they desire. To encourage them to be standing in strength and faith. To love them for abiding in the strength of the Lord, and to praise them for standing strong in what is right in the Lord. We've got to be praying for them. God will use mighty men to accomplish His will. We must be the fiery inspiration for these husbands and fathers. We've got to be the finest jewels, that our husbands are inspired to treasure and keep safe, because we keep the trust of his heart.

:10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.

I feel inspired to speak this morning on our calling and place in the family. It is a desirable place, if only we would see it for what it is. The world has deceived the women of today, into forsaking the value of the role God has instituted for us.

Young ladies do not be decieved, you have an awesome responsibility, to bring up families that will glorify the Lord. The world would have you to believe that what God ordained as your role in society, is not valuable. Do not be decieved! You have a great bearing on your husbands and children purposes in the Lord. Do not forsake that.

Titus 2:4-5

In His Love,

Suzanne

Amen. well written. Although I must ask.

What if I don't want a family? What if I don't want to be a mom? What if I want to serve God doing something else???

IF God blesses me with a husband, and with Children then I will watch over them....and nurture them and what not. But I want to do other things as well.

^So I guess my question is , are you saying that that is what we as women; or I as a young girl are supossed to do in life? Raise a family while the husband is in charge, while we nurture them, and be jewels ect.?

I really have no dispute with what you are saying. I cherish my responsibilities as a wife and mother and take on those roles with great zeal!!

I think what hippo's hope was referring too (as I was going to mention myself) what about women who CANNOT have children or who are not married? If we have no answer for them as to their role in the Kingdom, they can end up feeling like a failure in God's sight. (I have personal experience with this) I agree that women have very blessed and specific roles in their homes and families and I would not encourage anyone away from that, but I believe that is just a part of our roles. God calls women to many things and those He has not given the responsibilities of wife and mother to need to know they have a place in ministry as a christian woman and they need to be obedient to God's place for them. I don't think we can say all there is is wifehood and motherhood, if we don't have that, there is nothing for us. ;)

edited for typos!

I'm sorry keslc and HHIH,

I guess that I assumed it was just a given that those who cannot have children, are most certainly not those I'm referring to. This particular thread is intended for those who are, or will be married and/or married with children.

This particular thread is in no way intended for those who cannot have children. I will not get into it right now, but there is scriptural basis for whether or not women are to be mothers of children.

1 Peter 3:1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Suzanne

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

Prov. 14:1

The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.

Prov. 21:9

Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Prov. 21:19

Better to dwell in the wilderness, Than with a contentious and angry woman.

Prov. 25:24

It is better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Prov. 27:15

A continual dripping on a very rainy day And a contentious woman are alike;

Hmmm? Do you think the Word was emphasizing a point?

:t2: Suzanne,

Did I sure NEED to hear this...what great timing :il: I have been feeling so...well its hard to explain...just kinda down. Like ok here I am...I'm here to make you all happy...which I love to do don't get me wrong. But gee a little thank you once in a while is so nice to hear and it energizes you to do more. But your post reminded me its not a humans "thank you" that really counts. ( although it helps) Its God patting you on the back and telling you "Good Job!"

Love and Blessings,

Angel

Hi I'm new here. Have spent the last 2 days reading various posts, and popped into the chat room yesterday. I wanted to get a 'feel' if you will for the atmosphere before I became a part of it. LOL

I was really touched by this post as I have been burdened lately (as in the past few days) of wether or not I should continue working. I am working because I 'thought' I wanted to, not because I have too. My hubby of 19 years is supportive of my decisions either way.

I am a mom of 4 beautiful chillins. The youngest started school full-time this September, and I was offered an office job in October. Sort of fell in my lap. I have no formal training in the position I hold, and felt that perhaps it was a blessing from the Lord.

After a few months, and many hiccups, I find myself completelty stressed out. I am sick @ home this week with asthma, something that hasn't plagued me in years. I stumble across this board, and bamm.... I feel like the Lord is speaking to me about my role, and responsibilities. I don't want to do anything in haste, and of coarse I will pray.

Thanks again for sharing, and please offer any advice, or words of wisdom. I could sure use them.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
