Last thing I will say on this thread. I believe you forfeit your salvation when you reject it and the One who made the way for you to be saved. If I get saved and then a few years down the road, I decide this Jesus stuff isn't for me. Am I still going to be in heaven? I doubt it. Yes, God is loving and kind. However, He is holy, just and righteous.

I always questioned OSAS and one day I realized that if the OSAS doctrine is wrong, then there are alot of people who are not living for God, but still think that because they walked the aisle of a church they are saved, that are going to hell. I didn't want to take that chance. Because I no longer accept the OSAS doctrine doesn't me that I am stressed out and worried about if I sin. I do sin, but I repent and turn away from the sin. I know I won't change anyones view on this. I just wanted to speak about my own experience. God Bless!

To me, if we really love Jesus, we don't need a doctrine to tell us we can turn away and still be a follower of Christ.

Yup, I guess it all comes down to love. :il:

John 10:28:

" and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand"

That's good enough for me. If they decide that they "don't want it anymore", then they obviously didn't have the Holy Spirit in the first place. Because to use God and Christ like they are some "fad" is completely contrary to Scripture. They can't be turned 'on' and 'off' and the perfect plan of Salvation is not subject to failure. The call of the Holy Spirit is perfect and unable to be denied. To me, it's like saying God's plan was - "okay, I'll sacrifice my Son, I have this plan, but I'm so weak that it all depends on the human. They may even 'play' with it for a while. Maybe it will take, maybe it won't." That is so offensive to me. JMO

Like you, I know no one will change their minds. Just stating my beliefs. :t2:

That's about the best comment I've read yet! And how true....the only comment I'd make on all this is what Called ( sorry, I didn't catch your first name ) said -

If I get saved and then a few years down the road, I decide this Jesus stuff isn't for me. Am I still going to be in heaven?

I know this will sound like an argument OSAS folks use a lot, but do you think it's possible such a person really was never saved since they really never made the commitment and never really surrendered 100 % over to Jesus ? I realize it's not our place to judge someone's heart, but any true born-again Christian has no desire to reject Christ...As Paul said in Romans 6 " We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? "....I don't belive that a true Christian can fall away because they are reborn in the Spirit - thus being once saved always saved by the very definition of being a Christian ( many can talk the talk and act like they are Christians, but that doesn't make it so....but as time goes on, their spiritual death in sin will creep up on them and though they will appear to fall away, in fact they were never reborn to begin with and the truth of their death to sin becomes apparent ( one can't keep up a charade forever ).

Just my interpretation on it ( yes, I am somewhat of a Calvinist - but only because his doctrines are supported by scripture, not because I was taught to believe a certain way - don't lie Bob....you know that's not the truth :x: :t2: ).

Anyway, God bless and regardless what you believe, it won't change your destiny....we're all one in Christ and we all serve the same Lord - and in the end, that's all that matters.

In His service,

Bob

What I have found to be true alot of the time is that OSAS gives people an attitude of laziness and apathy.

I don't think that can be blamed on OSAS. That is a common problem in the Body of Christ - complacency. We are saved, we get comfortable, and we get lazy about worrying for other people's souls. :t2:

This will be my last reply in this thread, as I realize that it could go on forever and ever! There are verses to argue both sides. :t2: Bro. Chuck- thanks for the verses. It is comforting to know no one can take me from Jesus. I understand the point you are trying to get across. I used those versed for ten years as a staunch advocate of OSAS. We can agree to disagree, huh? :D

Bob- Yes, we are all children of God and I appreciate your views. I am not black and white on the issue of OSAS. There are many what ifs. There are scripture to back up both sides. in regards to your comment about "not being truly saved" I have seen people truly saved in my family and live for Jesus 100% for years and they allow the devil to gain a stronghold in their life and little by little they gave the enemy control until they turned their back on God. Thanks be to God that they repented and are now completely on fire for God! Anyway, I didn't want to preach.

I appreciate you Bob and Bro Chuck!

That's called "perseverance of the saints" my friend...meaning God will always bring back those who are His - and while it appeared to us as humans that they had fallen away, in God's master plan He brought them back to an eternal state of grace. Yes, I said back to an eternal state of grace, implying that I said that they may have indeed fallen away. However, God did not allow them to stay fallen but instead the Great Shepherd left the 99 to find the 1 and brought him/her back into the fold...so in the Eternal, out of time perspective, that person will die ( physically ) in a state of grace; and God would not have allowed it to happen any other way.

At any rate, this too will be my last post  I've debated this issue many times and as you stated, it could go on forever...but in the end, we belong to Jesus and He will ensure that we are always found and secured. OSAS doesn't mean someone can't temporarily fall, it means in the end, God will not allow His saved to be lost forever - so in all effect, once you are saved, you are indeed always saved in the eternal sense of the term.

I too appreciate your zeal, but I simply disagree with you ( as you do me )....and Christians can agree to disagree on certain issues - the important thing is that we don't become divided over something, because Jesus Himself said "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand" ( Matthew 12:25 ).

God bless,

Bob

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
