As for why Europe isn't fighting for Georgia? Why should we? Georgia isn't in the EU, isn't in NATO and if the Russians taking the pipelines there isn't in our interests, a war with Russia isn't either.

Only doing what's in the interests of the EU, eh? Isn't that what you just accused the U.S. of doing?

The UK was fighting for the safety of the UK. the UK was in on the agreement to sacrifice the Checzs to Nazis.

If it wasn't for the US, you Brits would be speaking German and wearing Swasitikas. Had Europe put an end to Hitler when he was all blow, world history would have been a lot different. But thanks European cowardice and appeasement, alot of people had to die to stop Hitler's war machine, 400 thousand of them were Americans who died not only for our interests but to pull your fat out of the fire.

Maybe we made a mistake. Maybe we should just handed you over to Hitler on a sivler platter.

We can't discount the fact that the Brits pretty much stood alone against the Nazis nor the massive losses of life and property suffered by the British people. I really hope this doesn't deteriorate into a dust up over events that happened long before any of us were born. I don't think calling the Europeans cowards is warranted here...nor is ignoring the fact that the Brits always answer when we call; along with the Australians and the Canadians. Let's give credit where it's due. Insulting each other's countries isn't uplifting for anyone.

There have been moments during this crisis that I thought the U.S. might dare to defend Georgia. The Russians have not been brazen enough to try and take the capitol and even then I'm not so sure we would try to stop them. It would seem pretty obvious that the Russians used the military action against separatist rebels to assert itself and put Georgia in it's place. It was, perhaps, also a message to the U.S. to mind it's own business. We can only guess at the purpose of this "missile shield" and considering how close the U.S. means to deploy it the Russians have every right to be nervous. As I have said in other posts, it's entirely possible that these missile sites could serve a dual purpose.

Even so, I cannot understand how Russia thinks they will win any allies by abusing its neighbors. The truth is they have only worsened their relations with everyone including their allies. Even now the Russians intend to defend the separatists as they try to succeed from Georgia. If these Russian citizens do not wish to live on Georgian land under Georgian rule then they need to move to Russia. It's that simple and I'm sure the U.N. would agree.

The U.S. government has overstepped it's authority more than a couple times and like it or not cannot seem to mind it's own business. Our leaders are so distracted by foreign affairs that our own affairs have gone largely ignored. Our government for the most part is comprised of wealthy lawyers and career politicians whose main concern is themselves. One thing I have come to understand is that the governments of this world do not in any way represent the mindset of the people. Most of us view our nations through the eyes of the people and we have little trouble deciding to stand together. We are all just trying to make our way in this world and it's the governments and bureaucrats that manage to pit us against each other with lies and false hopes.

After a little research one would have to agree that the U.S. has a checkered past. I think over all we have done more good than harm. Considering our record one has to admit we are still pretty unpredictable and so it becomes all the easier to question our motives. Despite the inconsistencies of all our governments we all still have hope that our leaders will chose to do the right thing.

Unfortunately this trust in our governments is misplaced. I place my trust in Christ Jesus.
