Good News from a War Zone

The Facts the Networks Miss

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of the steady drumbeat of bad news and defeatism from Iraq. The truth of the matter is that this has never been justified, and it's certainly not justified this week.

On Tuesday the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed a resolution supporting the end of the occupation of Iraq on June 30, transferring sovereignty to the Iraqi interim government, and authorizing the U.S. role providing security

What really ticks me off is the way the media is going out of its way to vilify the soldiers (especially the US military) out there. If you believe much of the media in the UK where I live you'll come away with the idea that all Allied soldiers are sadistic thugs who get their kicks out of torturing and killing Iraqi POWs and civilians even children. Yes, there have been cases of brutality on the part of both US and UK soldiers but I think it's totally unfair to give all the military a collective black eye just because of a few rotten apples. That sort of thing must be damaging to the morale of the soldiers out there as well as giving encouragment to the terrorists. IMHO while opposing the war isn't treason such vilifying of our troops is uncomfortably close to treason. I'm not saying we should turn a blind eye to cases of abuse but we need to keep them in perspective. I'm not in the military neither do I have anyone close to me in it but this sort of thing really annoys me. :down:

It is like condemning the whole of the USA because a % are into porn,rape,drugs,robbery and murder....and these things are in the papers everyday...by and large both the US and UK military are moral organizations with very strict codes of conduct and dedicated professional people. This is also especially true of the Israelis who are under the biggest microscope you could possibly imagine and perhaps the situation that our military have found themselves under in Iraq will help dispel some of the distorted reporting that is relentless against the Israelis.

The bottom line is that we need to support those men, and women who sacrifice so much, and put their lives in danger to protect the rest of us. And we also must remember that in every group of people from the kindergarten to the governments you are going to have some bad apples. Our communist controlled press intentionaly totaly ignores all the facts to present those things that they can use to bring division amongst Americans, especially with an election coming up. They definitely don't want Bush in he is too much like Reagan who had the guts to stand up against them, and set their program back a number of years. The best way to support our troops over there is to make sure that Kerry doesn't get in.
