Excellent thread Suzanne.

I believe the problem is that although many believe in Jesus Christ, they refuse to place HIM on the throne of their life. We still want control even though the Holy Spirit who dwells within us is greater than the world!

When the Word says to "Repent & Believe", I understand it to mean turn away from the world and Follow Christ ... step out of the dark and into HIS Light. I still believe that repentance from sinful behavior is impossible without the indwelt Holy Spirit. I still believe that true repentance is part of our sanctification, the process of being made Holy or set apart for HIS purpose, not ours.

I love the song, "I surrender ALL" ....

What time is it for us? Time for dancing in this nation? Or mourning and repentance?

I agree with most of you too. I also think it is important not to pick and choose scriptures to support our stances but use all scriptures in context. I agree with AKA Mary, but I would go so far as to read the entire chapter and the one before and after it. It also helps to study about the author and the setting in which it was written. It can give great insight.

REPENT then PARTY!

I was told once by someone to always read the verse before and after to get a better picture. This advice has proved very useful.

While we are on the topic of picking a verse, what about those who sorta hold the bible up let it fall open, randomnly run their finger down a page, and 'BANG' there sits the verse of the day.

I've heard the joke regarding this....then he died etc, but people really do this

Here's the advice I once heard on the same matter:

Read the Scriptures with 20/20 vision. 20 verses before and 20 behind. That way you'll be sure to get the whole context. And just like the story of Jeremiah and Hananiah, there was much to be gleaned in that particular story, but if you only read the part of Hananiah, you'll get the wrong picture. You've got to read the WHOLE story to understand exactly what is being told. There is a vast difference in the meaning if you don't read the WHOLE STORY.

In His Love,

Suzanne

:il: This is the scriptures that I read and Cry out for the deluded Christains today. Because they don't think it will come anywhere near them. I f they could just listen to the words being spoke in this scripture. They would realize It is written about those who claime to be HIS people at the end.

Jeremiah 25:

30 "Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them: 'The Lord will roar from on high, And utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, Against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31 A noise will come to the ends of the earth-- For the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,' says the Lord."

32 Thus says the Lord of hosts: "Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth.

33 And at that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground.

34 "Wail, shepherds, and cry! Roll about in the ashes, You leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled; You shall fall like a precious vessel. 35 And the shepherds will have no way to flee, Nor the leaders of the flock to escape.

36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard. For the Lord has plundered their pasture,

37 And the peaceful dwellings are cut down Because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

38 He has left His lair like the lion; For their land is desolate Because of the fierceness of the Oppressor, And because of His fierce anger."

Outstanding thread!

I rarely include Scrpture in my posts due to a few reasons.

One is that i'm human and am more likely than not subject to confusing a subject with the wrong context of a passage.

Another is that, for some reason, I am very good at learning and comprehension, but literally stupid when it comes to teaching! For me, it's hard to convey what I know, but... oh well.

Thanks to you for addressing this all important issue.

Thank you ted.

Just about the time I think I'm leaving WB's the Lord will compel a certain post that apparently provokes something for the soul.

Leaving??

Oh no. You stay put.

I don't think you truly realize just how much you mean to us here at WB. Your insight is something that is needed and helps more than you know.

I get silly at times and forget to thank those that stay the course without fail. It is to you and those like you that I can find calm in the storms.

Bless you Ted. I agree with you regarding Suzzanne. She always has started thought-provoking and edifying threads. I believe they are Holy Spirit led and not Suzzanne led, which is why they are so sound in doctrine and loving in nature.

May I share with you my thoughts?

I refer to Scripture OFTEN and use it in most every post and discussion I have with my brethren. Yes, sometimes I may misuse a passage but I expect my brethren to correct me gently. Generally speaking, though, when I rely on the Holy Spirit for ALL understanding [John 14], I usually see the passage in the context it was meant. We cannot be afraid of using Scripture in our discussions because it is our source of authority as the Holy Spirit gives understanding. Yes, we are only human and sometimes get it wrong but that is why we need to be open to discussion... as long we use His Word as our basis AND we do so in LOVE. [1 Cor 13]

I like Suzzanne's 20/20 rule. I also add that the more we surrender to Him, the better we will understand HIS Word as the Holy Spirit gives understanding.

Bless you,

Wayne

I myself have been considering leaving lately. It seems that I am constantly defending myself. But I am still praying about it. My best Friend Katie (Keslc) is on sabaticol from the boards for a while for similar reasons. I think we get really wrapped up in some of the issues and remarks some people make.

I too rarely use scripture, but mostly because I have 2 pet peeves on here, hugely enormous cut and pastes, and scripture picking, people choose ones that will support their statements and I don't do it. I go by what I learn after studying the scriptures and try to put it in my own words.

God bless us all.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
