  1. how can others be our enemy when our real enemy is sin? Ephesians 6:12 (NIV) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
  2. As Christians, we should be focusing on our relationship with Jesus and not so much on what is going on around us. The more you focus on those waves the bigger they will get. If our trust and focus is on Jesus, then we should be able to rest. Meaning not being fearful of the things going on around us. Jesus is our fortress and place of saftey.

    Mathew 7:15

There are other scriptures that tell us to use caution on those who not only claim to be prophets, but teachers as well. Just because someone says they are a minister does not automatically mean that they are forthright. All things that are taught and said by anyone should be carefully thought about and weighed and compared to with scripture. The first old testament story that comes to mind to illustrate this is the old prophet in 1 Kings 13:18 . In short, he tells another prophet he is one and all is well. The other prophet fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Even though he heard from God directly to not eat or drink anything for the time being. The bible directly tells us to test the spirits and people who teach , prophecy, etc. . . . for the reason that we can be mislead as this prophet did in 1st kings.
  4. I have noticed the reputation points being given for a long time. And i'm sure that they are being given because the mystery point giver feels that it is a nice thing to do and all deserve a point for their post.
  5. the reason the bible mentions caring for the poor and homeless, is so that there is harmony amongst all. So that none are lacking. Good works, are not “a” way to heaven. We are to care for those who are in need because we want to, not because we “have” to in order to earn the salvation. Your statement sounds as if you are saying that we ‘earn” our way. Caring for others is a good thing, but it is not a requirement for getting right with God, you can’t save yourself thru good works or earn Gods approval thru “good works” and your statement is indeed coming across even to me, that good works is what “wins” Gods approval. Sorry, but “A way to ” by means of caring for the poor is not correct, for there is only one way to get right with God, and that is when a person believes who Jesus is and excepts his plan of salvation. No amount of good works will add to it. We come to him by faith, not by works.
  6. from what I have heard, Florida originally was mostly swamp land, and developers just went in a put up houses over what was once considered worthless land. Back when walt disney purchased land for disney world, it sold for a penny an acre and that was back in the late 1960's, 1970's. Possibly , just guessing that there might of been a spring or river that ran underground in that spot. Springs can suddenly dry up or move and leave underground cavities.

  8. First you say I’m wrong then you posted the same information. while your hunting around online, you will also come across another possibility of why they are not listed in revelation. Is that during the exile, they were wiped out or absorbed into whatever area they were exiled to so much that they were no longer a tribe or part of the nation of Israel as a whole. None of these suggestions are cut and dried. They are just that ...possibilities. We can assert that they were listed as a tribe in Genesis. Both Dan and Ephraim. And we can assert that they both are not listed in revelation. The rest of it is speculation. .
  9. Their actions during the time of the judges could be why they are not listed. In Judges 17 there is the story of Micah, but note that this is not the same person as the one listed in the book of Micah. For the book of Micah occurred in the time of the kings. It is my understanding that the Micah spoke of in judges was from the tribe of Ephraim and both Ephraim and Dan are missing from the 12 listed in revelation. Micah excepted an idol from his mother and along with it made his own ephod and made another man his priest. As one continues to read into chapter 18 of judges, we see that the Danites had come upon this Micah’s home and took his idol and set it up. And because they had great difficulty in taking possession of their allotted land they turned instead and attacked a helpless and peaceful city that was not in the promised land. In conclusion both Ephraim and Dan never repented of their idolatry.
  10. I don’t think anyone is saying to brush things aside. But at the same time, school administrators shouldn’t go to the extreme in the other direction either. Coffee, the child didn’t have the bubble making toy with her, she was merely talking about it to her friends while getting on the bus to go home. And yes they can question students in certain situations and within reason. But I don’t think grilling the child as heavy as they did and threatening her with prison time for three solid hours was within reason and neither did a psychologist who examined the child shortly after the incident.
  11. Your not alone in just learning to drive. Lots of people much older are also learning to drive for the first time too. Its nice to be able to take yourself someplace when you want to and not have to wait for someone else to drive you somewhere.
  12. I remember one time when I went on an amusement ride and a glob of mucus was expelled out of the corner of my eye. An x-ray showed I had quite an infection. The area around your eyes and a section of your forehead is part of your sinus cavity. You might not have a congested or runny nose, but you can still have an area that contains inflamation If there is enough inflamation it can put pressure on the nerves affecting your vision. Before you start worrying about lupus, I would get a second or third doctor’s opinion. The antibiotic the doctor wrote you, can be taken with or without food. If your taking it on an empty stomach try taking it with food, eat a regular meal, and see if that will help. Or if you are taking it with food and getting an upset stomach take the medicine an hour or two before you eat.
  13. While looking at the prices of new bibles to replace the one I have that is falling apart. I came across the following description. “Imperfectly Imprinted”. What does this mean exactly? Typo’s? Binding errors? Anybody have one? What is the advantage other than the reduced price?
  14. Big difference between a 7 year old that is in one class room for the duration of school day and a high school student that is changing classes every 40 or 50 minutes and can take advantage of a “bathroom break” when going from one class to another.
  15. Not every situation is geared towards a government or a future agenda. . What this teacher did, was not the school districts policy and she was told to stop making the kids pay to use the bathroom. As a matter of fact a she may be facing a suspension. It’s a good possibility that the kids in general in her class were taking advantage of the bathroom breaks, and she was attempting to put a stop to it. While the “reward” system is a good way to teach kids things, it needs to be done with common sense and within reason.
  16. I did take the quiz, and according to them, scored well. I think a little too well. One of the questions that I don’t recall seeing, is anything about our prayer life. The whole web site is very vague. For one thing there isn’t a page for people to go to that are in need of counseling. There isn’t really any information on who these people are or what their site is all about. Any answers they do give are way, way to vague. Even though the site looks legitimate, I agree with Shep, it sounds like someone who is mining for easy targets. Don’t ever, fill out information right away until you have thoroughly examined a web site.
  17. I hadn’t heard of this till the question was posted, so did some looking into it. The superstitious and those into palm reading etc. . . use salt to keep evil away. The catholic church also believes in using salt to exorcise demons and keep thieves and other evil away They use several scriptures to explain this, but these two scriptures appear to be the main reasons for the ritual. 2 kings 2:19 and another is on Matthew 5: 13. the salt is sprinkled around bedrooms and doors/windows.
  18. someone else's misfortune. There are folks who take glee in the mishaps and troubles of others
  19. This is a situation in which age of driver wouldn’t of mattered. Think about it, he’s in dark clothing that blends in with the background late at night and on a dark unlit 2 lane highway. I’m very sure he looked like a bush or shrub at first glance. How well do you think any driver would have noticed that bush was really a person in the dark? His timing of running out in front of the 15 year old, very likely left her no time to react. You have no idea how fast a person can dart out in front of you with no warning at all that their about to do it. The sole blame should be put squarely on the man who ran out in front of her. Had this of happened during daylight hours, the two teens chances of avoiding him might have been better.
  20. 1 Samuel 17:40 KJV And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. NIV Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine. 21st Century King James Version And he took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a pouch, and his sling was in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine. American Standard Version And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the shepherd's bag which he had, even in his wallet; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. English Standard Version Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd's pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine. Complete Jewish Bible Then he took his stick in his hand and picked five smooth stones from the riverbed, putting them in his shepherd’s bag, in his pouch. Then, with his sling in his hand, he approached the P’lishti. New King James Version Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine. As we all can see, all versions tell us David chose 5 stones and put them in a bag. *** edited out insults ***
  21. Let me translate this thread, “I’m a real christian, cause I read the “right” translation” Mighty puffed up don’t you think? You might want to do further research on who owns what before calling another translation satanic and accusing people of supporting wrong activities. Thomas Nelson Inc is the one publishing the kjv bibles but recently was purchased by Harper which Murdoch also owns. He owns a majority of the christian publishers. I checked several sources to verify the following. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation has bought the Nashville-based Thomas Nelson, Inc., Christian publishers, reports Jeffrey A. Trachtenberg for the Wall Street Journal. The purchase was made by News Corp.’s HarperCollins book publishers. No terms of the sale were disclosed, but “it comes nearly 18 months after an investor group led by private-equity firm Kohlberg & Co. acquired a majority of Thomas Nelson’s stock. In 2006 the Nashville-based publisher had gone private in a transaction valued at about $473 million,” reported Trachtenberg. http://blog.beliefne...lins-empire.php http://news.yahoo.co...-201356781.html

    Herod

Herod had ample opportunity to hear and except the same good news that all others had. He had many interviews before and after imprisoning John the Baptist. We can be sure that John shared with him God’s word and who Jesus was and his mission in every interview. However Herod, on those visits simply wanted to be intellectually entertained. Jesus’s ministry wasn’t done in secret meetings behind closed doors but in the Temple, synagogues, houses, along side the shores of lakes and on hillsides, in towns . If Herod had really wanted to know the truth and who Jesus was he could have attended any of those places where Jesus was giving sermons. Herod was a depraved person who had already emphatically and repeatedly rejected the truth. And now that Jesus was bound before him, on Herod’s terms was suddenly interested, but only for the purpose of being amused. Therefore, our Lord had no intention of satisfying the curiosity.
