  1. If God knows and cares for even the smallest of sparrows...and knows when it falls....that tells me, God's creatures are important to him. If they are important to God, then, they are important to me. My choice is not how much would i spend on the pet/animal, it is what would be the most humane way of helping that creature, then, depend on God to provide the means to help me care for one of his creatures. Through the years, if all was totalled, i'm sure had i saved the money and not spent it...i could now afford to buy a house, or put a kid though college. Life, all life is precious and priceless.
  2. Dear Free, I have been a caregiver for over 15 years. I've worked with aging and the elerly. I've also taken care of my own mom when she was sick with cancer up until her death. Keeping in mind, I don't know the full extent of your own circumstances, I'll try to help as much as possible. If you have anymore questions or if you need any more help...or just someone to talk to and vent...your more than welcome to send me a message. Also, my email information is on my profile. God bless you and I'll keep you in prayer.
  3. When I was living in my van, (not by choice) I could go into any public library and ask for a visitor's pass...which inabled me to use the computers and other library resources. That's probably how he does it.
  4. I proudly support those who have fought, bled, and died just so that I could live in a country with liberty and justice for all. Ecclesiastes chapter 3 does say that there is a time for everything; including a time to kill. I do not support murder. But should a time ever come when this great nation comes under attack and my liberties and freedoms already fought and died for are threatend, I will not hesitate to give my 100% support in defending it. To NOT defend this great nation and all it stands for, would be to allow everyone who has died defending this country to date, to die in vaine. And that, in my own personal opinion would be an even greater sin.
  5. I do not think organ donation should be mandantory. I think it is each individual's right to choose to give organs or not to should be done so freely. Now, I DO have a great respect for those who DO donate their organs to others in need. I think that is a very compassionate and wonderful thing for someone to do.
  6. I never even heard of this...but, ewww...just the thought of that is disgusting. I'll definately write and express my thanks for Pepsi for NOT doing that. ICK!
  7. I love all the ways (big and small) God surprises us in our day to day lives. We have such a personal, one on one God who gives us the individual desires of our Hearts when we obey and keep his commands. Its so easy to get wrapped up in whats going on in our lives to forget to look for all the tiny ways God is telling us he is near, he has us in his sight, and he cares. Reading how God interacts and blesses us and yes, even laughs and uses HIS sence of humor to get our attention is such a nice way to be reminded of God's goodness towards us.
  8. Hi Hippo, I don't have any great words of wisdom to share, but just want to encourage you not to give up. Don't be too harsh with yourself. Is there any point during the day when you feel more alert and responsive? This probably sounds stupid or maybe like a simple answer or maybe a "blow off" but while I do not know how your feeling, cause no one know how a person is REALLY feeling, I have been in situations SIMILAR. Asking God to simply grant you energy, and asking God, to help you motivate and take charge of how your body feels sometimes helped me. Knowing I didn't have to do it under my OWN strength. If left to myself, I'd just burry under the covers and be done with it. Sometimes, I pray and ask God to take control of my mind and attitude. There will be days when you over come and manage...and be happy and proud of yourself. But on days when you just don't hit the mark, still be proud of yourself and don't be too harsh with yourself. You are much loved and much appreciated on your good days AND on your bad ones.
  9. There was a time when I willfully, willingly and rebelliously did contrary to what I KNEW God was telling me to do. I was in direct violation of God's word and will for almost a year. He never left me nor forsook me. He still responded to my prayers and he did not stop teaching me things, but he taught me MORE. Yes, those were some hard, painful lessons that God taught me, but I never felt God was punishing me or holding back from me. In my time of rebellion, He was my rock and kept me from sinking. Sometimes, I do believe God allows us to do what we want, knowing what consequences we will land in, so that HE can use that to bring us back to Him.
  10. This whole thread of conversation has been completely absorbing and interesting. I think, instead of looking on one's appearances or making judgements (either for or against) a person's choice of expression, the real question and focus should be on are we really loving one another as Christ loves us? Jesus made no difference between people. People were people. Rather than wasting precious time on how one should or should not dress, why not get back to what IS important. Doing the work of the Father and loving one another. Souls of the lost are perishing by the moment...and we are worried about what others are wearing? Which do you think God is more interested in?
  11. There are many times I see the hand of God work in such a way as to make me shake my head and wonder, "WHAT is He THINKING?" I am sure God has a sence of humor and that He enjoys sharing it with us from time to time. Is there a time you can recall, when God did something for you or someone you know that showed his sence of humor?
  12. Jesus tells us in the Bible very clearly who is he is and was. The the 14th chapter of John, He tells us if we have seen him, we have seen the Father. Then, the next chapter over, in John 15, he goes even further and gives a parable about the vine and the branches.
  13. Oh yes! Mom only needed 3 things to keep us kids in line. A switch, a bar of soap and "that look". That kind of look that can stop you instantly no matter what your doing. I didn't get many switchings, but boy did I get that bar of soap more times than I could count.
  14. I am almost done reading a book by Squire Rushnell called When God Winks At You. It is about how God speaks directly to you though the power of coincidence. Has some pretty intresting stories.
  15. I was emailed a picture of a white cross and purple lillies that said Jesus is the Reason. I got to thinking, He is the reason for what? How would you fill in the blank? Jesus is the reason _________. My answer, Jesus is the reason I get up in the mornings.
  16. I get answers to my prayers. Not always the answers I want, and sometimes the answers take a LONG time to get...but there are other prayers I've prayed when the answer was given the same day. There is nothing I do not pray about, infact, I've prayed about some pretty crazy things in times past!
  17. I see this alot! Especially when I worked with those with mental and physical disabilities, the elderly and those with impared abilities. Becoming restless, more active, more aggressive, etc. Full moon also effects the tide of the ocean...just my opinion, but I think during the full moon, people tend to notice the change in the atmosphere and react to it. No science logic behind that thought, but it's my take on it.
  18. A few years ago, I was in a situation where I was out of work and living in my van. I didn't have access to insulin which I require and I had ulcers form on my legs. I went to the hospital and aside from telling me to get my insulin filled and giving me some antibacterial ointment they said I should go see my doctor. I told them I didn't have one. A few weeks later I went back the emergency room when my legs were so swollen they were cracking and bright red with infection. The same dr who had seen me before was there and he asked if I had gone to see my doctor. I told him NO, I didn't have one and could not pay for one. He gave me more antibacterial ointment and told me that was all he could do. Weeks of serious pain and fever about drove me crazy. The ulcers ate down to the nerves and in one case to the bone before I was able to find someone able and willing to help me. The person who helped me was a Indian doctor who was almost impossible to understand. He took me as a patient when no insurance and knowing I had no way to pay for his help. He was very kind and within a month, I saw real healing taking place in my legs. I will always be very grateful to that doctor who decided healing was more important than money.
  19. While I've known people to have bad "luck" on Friday the 13th, I never have. The only thing I remember growing up is we were not allowed to harm a cricket if it got in the house. Both my Grandmother and Mother always said it was good luck if one came in the house..but very bad if it was harmed. Needless to say, I hated cricket season growing up!
  20. I've known both men and women to be lazy...and i've known both men and women who ran circles around me. I think it's pretty well divided up.
