Welcome to Worthy oldhermit. I don't believe I have met you before. You will be vetted faster if you start your own topic. Thank you and God bless.
  2. Please name those who teach God's grace who say that it is OK to continue in sin! I have never heard anyone teach that and it is completely false. It is in fact a misconception of arminians. Nor is it true that we can be perfect and without sin in this world. All we can do is aim for that goal. Most of us overcome most of our failings that we are aware of. God continues to reveal our hearts to us and we find other areas that are not christlike attitudes. It is also a sin to make false accusations about those who teach about God's grace! Those that I am familiar with who teach grace tell us that when we are born again God changes our hearts so that we no longer enjoy sin as much and feel miserable afterwards for intentionally sinning. Even worse, we lose our fellowship with God. After confessing our sin to God He does cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It doesn't take away our sorrow for having failed in our desire to lead a life that pleases God. This godly sorrow is what leads us to repentance so that we don't repeat the sin. In time we learn to focus on heavenly treasures and despise early values and temptations. Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned. We are saved by the unearned mercy of God. Grace. Rom 6:23 NKJV For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Eph 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1Co 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
  3. We do need to be in awe of the One Who created our universe. To have such power and wisdom is beyond comprehension. But the only terror I have of my Father in Heaven is to fear losing His fellowship. His guidance and help each day are what I live for. To know His love and underserved mercy is my fulfillment. I feel like a gnat in God's world--here for such a short time. That God would have love for such a creature and want it as His own as a child is mind boggling. What is man that thou art mindful of him? We so easily become mired in the cesspool of sin, yet He rescues all who will receive His help. He made it possible for us be washed and cleansed, clothed in the righteousness of Christ and suitable for His kingdom. Why would he bother? There is no good reason except that He created us to be a part of His world and reclaims us from the destroyer. The good news is that of His loving kindness, His righteousness, grace and goodness. He offers peace and wholeness to all who have known the terror of evil. Healing and comfort are a part of His nature. He offers hope and imparts faith. What a holy and glorious God we serve! Hallelujah!!!
  4. It seems to me that the questions is whether a person's faith is genuine. God tests our faith to determine that. It doesn't mean that a person is forever damned if they fail once. God may plant the seeds again and the soil may be ready to produce fruit the nest time. Luk 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luk 8:12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luk 8:13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Luk 8:14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. Luk 8:15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. 1Pe 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 1Pe 1:7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
  5. This passage is speaking of a church, not an individual. I have heard that it is no more.
  6. The statement of faith should state that the Bible IS God's word, not just that it contains God's word. It should be the only bases of doctrine, not tradition or logic or any other basis. A good church believes the Bible is " verbal plenary inspired in its original autographs." Or the very words are inspired that were written in the original language the first time.
  7. Welcome Recently. Read your Bible. the Gospel of John in the New Testament is a good place to start. Pray. Ask God to forgive you for anything you know that you have done wrong. God forgives because His only Son Jesus Christ died on the cross in your place for your sin, taking your punishment upon Himself. He loves us that much. That is why God the Father is able to forgive any of us. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 1Co 15:2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1Co 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 1Co 15:5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 1Co 15:6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  11. Welcome to Worthy, De Maria. Be sure to respond to our posts with a thank you or a reply so they are sure you are not a robot or a troll.
  12. God has given each of us gifts. Some are Marys and some are Marthas. To some organization and assigning tasks comes naturally. Some feel they have to do it themselves to do it right (Marthas). They immediately see what needs to be done and do it. Others see emotional needs and seek to comfort people or bring relief from pain. Some pray and intercede. Others give of their possessions. Still others study the Word and can teach in such a way that the Lord uses His word in the lives of many. Some are compelled to share the Gospel. Some are encouragers who prod us to greater holiness and determination to walk with God. Each of us has a gift or calling and function to be the body of Christ. If a person is an alpha female in the body she should be so over women and younger children, as God has appointed her. God does appoint some to be leaders. Me? tell me what to do and I'll be a gofer. (I will go for things for them, but keep it simple.)
  13. Thank you Chelle, and welcome to Worthy.
