Because God loves me, and if I loved someone I would not consign them to an infinite amount of suffering. I don't think God consigns them to infinite suffering, I think when someone rejects God He simply gives them what they want a world and a life that is void of His existance and intervention. as for your original question, I think all those who lived before Jesus are described in the bible as being judged for their works and how they lived, some will go to heaven and many will not this is my opinion

actually I can see why satan is the accuser, he didn't like the idea of mankind from the very beginning, and seeing all the mistakes and our own rebellious natures he is quick to point these out, seeing his own rebellion has a costly price, he wants to make sure God see's our mistakes
