I think he's excelled in several areas - supreme court appointee, overturned Obama's prohibition against providing law enforcement with military surplus items, illegal immigration is down by a huge margin, etc. He wants to get tax reform passed, as well as build the wall, both of which I support. I believe he'd get a lot more accomplished if he didn't have so much opposition.

I can't even imagine the reaction from the left if Obama was treated with the same disrespect in which Trump is being treated.

Don't know if you're aware of it, but Oath is a subsidiary of Verizon. These days you don't know who owns who, and how liberal organizations may be owned by organizations that provide services you use daily.

Speaking of Radio talk show hosts, (sorry to get off topic a little), does anyone know who the radio talk show host was (around the mid 80's - I don't know how long he was on before or after that time frame), because after I moved east from Texas, I never heard him again, but I listened to him for almost two years while there. I know his show was nationally broadcast. He was a Walter Martin type (although I've never heard Walter Martin) - spoke against cults/the occult. His personality was abrasive. It always struck me that something wasn't right about his theology. He wrote a fiction book, maybe a few. I think, but am not sure, that he was accused of falsifying information for sensationalism. Anyone know who that was?

I have what I would consider normal dreams. Nothing deep. Sometimes weird. As a child, I had nightmares occasionally, but haven't had one in years.

We're close to the middle of the path also. The news stations have told us to prepare for large crowds and heavy traffic in our area. Our schools are closed Monday. Can you believe it??? Most of our colleges have viewings. Everyone's trying to get the glasses. It's crazy. One mom bought her (college age) daughter pepper spray, because of potential craziness.

No offense, but I'm not talking about translations. I'm speaking of manuscript families. For example, seeing the KJV as you do, I'm taking it that your favorite manuscript family would most likely be the Textus Receptus (TR). I posted some of this on another site. I'll post it here too. Although the Byzantine Texts (Majority Texts) are generally referred to as later manuscripts, there is evidence for early references to the Majority Text - fragments from early church fathers. Having said that, just because a source is early doesn't make it accurate - I'm referring to Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, which are considered by many to be the "oldest and best" manuscripts, primarily "best" because they're early. We don't have the original manuscripts. We have copies of copies and copies of copies of copies. You could have an "early" manuscript that is the twenty-third generation copy, and a manuscript that is a couple hundred years later, that is only an eleventh generation copy. In this case the "early" manuscript could contain many more errors than the later manuscript. Therefore, being an early manuscript alone, is not enough to discredit later manuscripts. Also, there are a few other possibilities. What if the Majority Texts were actually present in the first and second centuries, but they were in such popular demand that they were destroyed by such great use? They were simply worn out. This could explain why no older Majority Texts are found. I don't believe the argument "There are so many of those manuscripts; surely they could have found one or two," would be valid. I wouldn't believe the Majority Texts started out with such huge numbers. They would have started small and grown over time. Along those lines, look at the climate. Vaticanus and Sinaiticus (again - the "best" manuscripts) came from Alexandria, Egypt, an ideal climate which would preserve manuscripts beautifully. Look at the location of most of the Majority Texts - Asia Minor, with a climate that would destroy manuscripts upon much exposure. This could also explain the lack of the early Majority texts. Speaking of location, there's something to be said about the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus coming from Alexandria, Egypt, while the Majority Texts come primarily from an area where the original Manuscripts were written/written to, and New Testament Churches were planted and influencing their society. I would think the likelihood of more trustworthy manuscripts would be greater from those in close vicinity to areas where the original manuscripts had been present. Although this argument would not stand on its own, it does add weight to the whole. There is a huge number of the Majority Text manuscripts. And a very small number of manuscripts that are supposedly the best, on which most modern translations are based upon. I believe this is worth considering as well. Just points for consideration.

What's your favorite Bible website, and why? The only two I'm really familiar with are Bible Gateway and Blue Letter Bible. I'm not really sure. I've used Bible Gateway for a long time. I've just begun using Blue Letter Bible. There may be others as well.

What is your favorite manuscript family. Thinking of Byzantine/Majority, Textus Receptus, Critical Texts, Western (if any), etc. As you know, different translations are based on the various texts, e.g., World English Bible - Byzantine/Majority, KJV/NKJV - TR, other modern versions - Critical texts - primarily Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, etc. I'll start. I stand with the Byzantine/Majority Text Preferred. Secondly, the TR. My ideal translation (which doesn't currently exist) is a NKJV translation, based on the Byzantine/Majority Text. Even though I favor the Byzantine/Majority Text, I prefer using the NKJV as my primary translation, while referencing the WEB (World English Bible). If the thread develops, I may get into "why?" later. However, anyone is welcome to state why it's your favored text. Others? Addendum: For KJVO proponents, it's fine if you state that your preference is the TR, but please don't turn this thread into an evangelism session for the TR. Thank you!

Yes - primarily a hobby forum and FB. I usually spend no more than five minutes on FB. I used to post frequently on a credit forum, but it's been a good while - a year or two. I came to Worthy from another "Christian" forum. However, it was common for people to put others down on the forum. There's one particular individual that posts frequently. He seems to be very immature in the faith. However, he's been to Bible college and has a street preaching ministry. He is stubborn about some of his views. Often when he posts, he gets viciously attacked by others. They make fun of him frequently. Yes, he needs to mature in his faith, but in the forum, it's like he swims with piranhas, rather than being lovingly and gently corrected. I've pointed this out of the forum, and they only tried to justify their attitudes and behaviors toward him. That's not the only example of toxic behavior on the forum, but I found myself - not depressed, but...maybe feeling like I needed to take a shower afterward. Sort of like walking through a sewer. Worthy has such a different atmosphere. Occasionally, there are posts that I feel are dogmatic and sometimes belittling, but that's not the overall environment of Worthy. It's mostly encouraging and refreshing to be here.

I agree. A wedding is not the place you (nor your cousin) wants a confrontation. He doesn't need to "make a stand" there. It would only spoil the bride and groom's day. Based on what you said (and didn't say), "...it always ends up in a fist match," and you didn't mention that he repented from leaving your Mom in the first place, I assume your father is not a Christian? I agree with Littlelamb - the others want a negative reaction. If he keeps reacting to people when they goad him, they will continue to do so. I know you love your Dad and don't want to see him hurt, but it sounds like he's bringing much of this on himself by reacting to these people. If they don't get a reaction, they would eventually stop, and maybe get used to your Dad and his wife. God may use this to bring your Dad and his wife to Himself.

I agree with these posts. People see thing often through their own filters, and your disability is one of your filters. You may view comments as being critical of you when that was most likely not the intent at all. Be the person God has made you to be with your own personality. After all, every part of the body is important and serves a purpose.

My question would be, as believers, why wouldn't we pray for God's blessings over our food and thank Him for it each and every time? Is our belly our god, and our appetite a greater priority than thanking Him? I'm not boasting, but I never forget. At every meal, I can't help but remember His goodness and thank Him and ask Him to bless it. Yes I pray throughout the day, but that's no excuse to not follow our Lord's example and pray over meals.

Sasha, If you think you should not have removed your message from Facebook, why not simply repost it, with a comment about how you were initially intimidated, by responses you received, to take it down, but you realized that you were mistaken to do so?

Does anyone use Professor Horner's Bible Reading Plan? I tried it, but I'm a slow reader and could not get through the 10 chapters a day. However, from the people that I am aware of who use it regularly, they love it, and it profits them richly.

I'm waaaaayyy too slow a reader to read the Bible in 26 days. Not even if you gave me 30. I'll have to stick to my five chapter a day plan.

In that situation, I would explain that you feel that she continues to take advantage of you, and you will be not be giving her rides any longer. Afterward, be kind as you should be to everyone, even though she may treat you in an unkind manner. Bottom line - you need to set boundaries with her, and keep them. Also, demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit to everyone in the office, including her.

I'm talking about Bible Reading, not Bible Study. I'm only talking about Bible reading - for pleasure, devotion, to get an overall picture of the Bible, etc. Again, I'm not talking about Bible study - in-depth or otherwise. Given this criteria, this topic may not apply to everyone because many may study small segments of Scripture daily, and not have a reading plan. Also, this thread is not meant to discuss Bible reading vs. Bible study - the merits or faults of either. I'm just simply curious, for those of you who have a Bible reading plan, to know what your plan is. I use a variation of the M'Cheyne plan. I try to read one chapter of five lists a day totaling five chapters a day. List 1 is the Pentateuch & Proverbs. List 2 contains the History, Wisdom, & Poetry books minus Proverbs. List 3 contains all prophets - major and minor plus Revelation. List 4 contains the Gospels plus Acts. List 5 is all the Epistles. I end up reading the Pentateuch & Proverbs in a little over 7 months. History, Wisdom, & Poetry (minus Proverbs) in a little over 15 months. Major & Minor Prophets and Revelation in a little over 9 months. Gospels & Acts in a little under 4 months. Epistles in a little over 4 months. When I finish one list, I start that list over. This way I'll almost never be reading the same set of chapters consecutively. This is similar to Professor Horner's Bible Reading Plan. Ends up, I'll read the New Testament (minus Revelation) about three times a year, and most of the Old Testament at least once, and several parts twice. So what do those of you who have a Bible reading plan do?
