  1. Good morning all. Everyone was informed of the total eclipse that happened on August 21st. There are sermons that have been preached about how the sun can be a picture of the "Son" Jesus Christ and how the moon is a picture of the "Body of Christ" because we are to reflect the light of the Son. I heard a sermon the Sunday before the eclipse that blessed my heart. When the moon came between the sun and the earth, we experienced darkness. When anything comes between us and the Son, it will cast darkness upon us. We need to identify this darkness and make sure it only lasts a short period of time. Just like we could not live in a continued state of darkness should the eclipse last a long time, as Christians we do not need to remain in darkness due to sin in our lives. We will have an eclipse in our lives from time to time but we need to make sure it is only for a moment and not a lifetime. Light conquers darkness so let Jesus conquer whatever causes the eclipse in your life.
  2. Thank you. I have been reading your comments on other topics and you have a great testimony and witness. Keep up the Good Work.
  3. I guess I misunderstood your comment. I have really struggled with this question. Cremation is my choice, the main reason being the extravagant cost of a funeral service. Even though the reasons have no logic because I will be with my Lord, I just don't want to go under 6 feet of dirt. I had rather be scattered in nature or placed in a container somewhere above ground.
  4. Sounds like things were said or done that cannot be undone. True friendships are hard to come by but they should also be hard to break. All anyone can really do is just make a heartfelt apology and mean it. Do not add the word "but" and try to pass your actions back on to her. That is not apologizing. Then ask the LORD to help you and your friend work through this and hopefully your friendship will be stronger. If she can't or won't get past this then you have to forgive yourself and move on also. Maybe as time passes things will change.
  5. What an insightful article. I found your facts relating to the McDonald mishap very informing. Like you mentioned, we only heard bits and pieces and jumped to the conclusion that the lawsuit was a total misuse of our justice system. In the time it took to read your article, my whole outlook on the incident changed from a sense of anger to wanting to find out how she is doing. Thank you so much for sharing this information. You tied this in with how we as Christians tend to judge people by what we hear or see without knowing the truth. I know I have a tendency to do that very thing. This article hopefully will readjust this attitude. Thank you.
  6. 1 Thessalonians 4:6-17 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. What does it mean when the "dead in Christ" shall rise. I have heard this all my life that the graves will give up the dead, dead bones? dirt? dust? ashes? Why will anything here on earth be of any value on that day? Our fleshly bodies are temporary and will have no place in heaven. So what will come out of the grave?
  7. OldCoot I am sorry to have wasted your time. Even though you have this all figured out I place value on the comments that have been sent in and thank the ones posting for their insight.
  8. I agree with you about the cost of burial. Funeral Homes provide a needed service and everyone has used them for some family member. When my dad passed away the funeral home was terrific about caring and preparing him for burial. They were extremely gracious to my mother, sister and I, paying close attention to every detail. I know they have to treat everyone with respect but they get paid a lot of money to do this. Even when the funeral home came to pick up my dad, the men were all wearing their 3 piece suits. To some this shows their respect but it did not appeal to me. Like you, I had rather the money that would be spent on my funeral be given to some type of charity.
  9. Thank you for responding to my question. I have had the same thoughts as you have stated.
  10. I have had your same thoughts HAZARD, I guess my real question is when given a choice, is cremation acceptable? There are times when a person is required to do things that would, when given a choice, be unacceptable. KB1110 has given me an answer that a previous preacher gave me a couple of years ago. My thoughts here are that I would not be having this done to follow pagan religions. Your statement to "prayerfully consider it" is so true.
  11. I have seriously thought about being cremated when I die. I have no husband, my children have their own families, my parents will be buried together so if I am buried (should I remain single at that time) I will be placed in a hole in a plot by myself. My desire is to be cremated and let the children decide what they want to do with this old earthly body. My mother (91) is not very happy about this decision. I have asked several pastors their opinion about cremation and no one can give me an answer whether it go against biblical doctrine or not. I would really like some imput on this.
  12. What a beautiful picture the words "leans into God" has placed in my heart. I can't help but think of that special moment when you lean into the person you love and they wrap their arms around you. Nothing else matters. I needed your post to remind me of my real true Love.
