  1. I see. My questions will just have to go unanswered, and the context I revealed unaccounted for and instead replaced with 'non scriptural commentary'. If you are satisfied with your foundation, I shall never be content with such, and must continue to receive what is actually written in the word over personal ideologies in each instance. (Isaiah 8:20, 28:10,13) Please let me know when you want to address from scripture the "also", and the "clouds" in scripture. Anything else is a poor use of my time and mental energy. Thank you.
  2. Do you see that little word "also"? If you do, go back to Hebrews 11:2,4 at least. Heb 11:2: "For by it the elders obtained a good report." Heb 11:4: "By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh." When "Abel" "obtained witness", by whom was it from? Remember, Heb. 12:1 said, "we also", which means Abel is included in being, "compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses". Heb 12:1: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," Now, did you do a study on "clouds" in scripture? How about the "Watcher"? As for the latter point, have you read Acts 2:29,34, 13:36; Hebrews 11:13,15,19,35,39-40, 12:23?
  3. Heb. 12:1 KJB - "so great a cloud of witnesses" - Heavenly unfallen angels or men of earth? The Bible says: Heb 12:1: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," Well, there you have it, in context. The answer is 'heavenly unfallen angels'. Look closely now. It's right there, in a single word, relating back to Hebrews 11:1-4. Then just do a study on "cloud(s.)" in scripture.
  4. Just a question for clarification please: When you say, "The Lord is omnipresent", do you mean through His omniscience (as Psalms 139 teaches), or do you mean in a pantheistic or panentheistic way, where God is in tree, rock, saint and sinner?; And if the latter, can you explain Revelation 3:20 in that light?, Thank you.
  5. Yes, it began with "polemos", a war of words and ideas, which eventually led to physical expulsion. Lucifer was a trafficker of ideology of himself, which used lies and deceit. He 'campaigned' against the Son (aka Jesus) through insinuation, doubt, intimidation, fear.
  6. That is incorrect. The created angels are physical beings with a spiritual aspect as mankind does, meaning a heart/mind. Please see my several previous posts in this thread. A spiritual being does not mean spirit being and spiritual body does not mean spirit body (a contradiction in terms). Spiritual simply means able to contemplate and think, a rational being (with intelligence capable of contemplating God) of flesh and bones.
  7. That is impossible according to scripture, because of the angels (fallen or unfallen) very flesh nature, which differs than "the seed of Abraham". The created angels do not have the same flesh as mankind. They have "strange" (eteras or hetero, foreign) "flesh" (sarkos). They have "celestial" (epourania, where sun, moon and stars are) "bodies" (swmata) which are non "terrestrial" (epigeia, of this earth/world). Created angels are never said to contain "seed" or have "issue", as the children of "this world" have. Created angels are never said to be able to "marry" or be given in "marriage", be able to "multiply", have "offspring", or "be fruitful", or able to "know" each other (among themselves) or mankind. According to scripture, "kind" only brings forth "kind" and created Heavenly host "kind" are not the same as man"kind" to be able to "bare" between them. Satan and his hosts are limited to what can be directly and indirectly done to mankind. This is seen from Genesis 1-3 (3:15) and since Calvary (Revelation 12:10; Romans 5:6). Devil's can influence others (through possession, which is mind upon mind) among mankind to rape, etc, but they themselves cannot do so. They can even cause people to believe (through affecting the mind and thus senses) they are experiencing such things. The can even affect mankind through vision and audio (sight, sound). A child of the devil is not one of flesh and body, but is one of mind and heart (see Judas).
  8. Real love, speaks the truth. Love, warns of imminent danger to life. Love speaks to the joy of their Father above and His salvation. God is love. If you fear, you are not yet made perfect in love. Do not let (ungodly) fear rule you. Let God rule you, and He has conquered the spirit of (ungodly) fear. I have spoken with my own parents, and they are now, after several years of difficult conversations beginning to see light in what I had earlier shared. Sometimes, hard ground is broken up through sharp truths, and takes time to loosen the soil of the heart by repeated effort and prayer. Do not be harsh, but explain to your mother what it means to you, and the joy you have. Do not try to convert her, but speak to your own experience/testimony first. Then it might allow room to open up for questions, and even if she is defensive or accusatory, just move past all of that, and continue to speak of the great love/joy/peace you now have, and that you would like to show her how you have been changed by Jesus Christ.
  9. The twin institutions of Creation: Marriage (mankind to mankind): 1Co_11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. Sabbath Union (Godhead to mankind): Mar_2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
  10. Part 1 - The Creator Of Rest In the beginning, on the seventh day after all His work, the LORD God did rest, and turning to the man there with Him, saying, this is what I have blessed; and down through the long ages, it would remain the gift from Heaven, holy and sanctified, the day the Creator spent with man - seven; a vast temple of sacred time, enclosed for the faithful steward to keep, knowing the Shepherd worked tirelessly, to have a place for all His precious sheep; peace-filled and tranquil, calm and nothing over to be stressed, Oh!, what special Day with our Father!, this Sabbath of His glorious rest. Part 1 - The Creator Of Rest
  11. Natural to Spiritual. As John on the Island of Patmos, alone with God, on the 7th day, the sabbath of the Lord, the Lord's day, has a Revelation of Jesus Christ, his Creator and Redeemer, so too can we, in that same day, the day that Jesus began preaching the Gospel (Luke 4) under the power of the Holy Ghost/Spirit, and as we study His life, and think upon Him with which we have to do, it will bring that same Revelation of God's character into our own lives and hearts, and we too, shall truly be a son of God: 2Pe 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2Pe 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Rom_8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
  12. Ok, but the point of the thread itself, and OP, at that, was to do a Bible study on the verse, and see what scripture says, rather than what others, years (1900) later, wrote on the subject. I would disagree with pretty much all of that 'commentaries' propositions, being as they are unfounded from a scriptural standpoint, a linguistic standpoint, a structural standpoint, even a philosophic (as point 3) standpoint (for instance, why would such persons complete conjecture and failure to understand (the 'why' of) something be evidence for his point of view in substantial matters?). Just to quickly address the points, as they are not really the point of the OP; [1] There is no such thing as the "Christian Sabbath" in all of scripture. As a secondary note, there is neither a "Jewish Sabbath" in all of scripture. In regards the 7th day of the week, it is always "the sabbath of the LORD thy God" (see, Ex. 20:8-11). [2] In the NT, the "first [day] of the week" is never the "sabbath", or even called the "sabbath", anywhere. In fact, "the first [day] of the week" in koine Greek (and one Hebrew) is as follows: Genesis 1:5 (Masoretes Hebrew) יום אחד׃ (Transliterated) yôm echäd f Matthew 28:1(a) - (Koine Greek) οψε δε σαββατων (Transliterated) oye de sabbatwn Matthew 28:1(b) - (Koine Greek) εις μιαν σαββατων (Transliterated) eiV mian sabbatwn Mark 16:2 - (Koine Greek) και λιαν πρωι της μιας σαββατων (Transliterated) kai lian prwi ths mias sabbatwn Mark 16:9 - (Koine Greek) αναστας δε πρωι πρωτη σαββατου (Transliterated) anastas de prwi prwth sabbatou Luke 24:1 - (Koine Greek) τη δε μια των σαββατων (Transliterated) th de mia twn sabbatwn John 20:1 - (Koine Greek) τη δε μια των σαββατων (Transliterated) th de mia twn sabbatwn John 20:19 - (Koine Greek) τη μια των σαββατων (Transliterated) th mia twn sabbatwn Acts 20:7 - (Koine Greek) εν δε τη μια των σαββατων (Transliterated) en de th mia twn sabbatwn 1 Corinthians 16:2 - (Koine Greek) κατα μιαν σαββατων (Transliterated) kata mian sabbatwn Thus the "first [day] of the week" (NT) is always just the number "one" ("mian") or "first" ("prwi prwth") in regards, or towards the culmination of the week, which was God's rest, the seventh day, the sabbath of the LORD thy God. [3] Subjective opinion, based upon the commentators own failure to understand. Not much to address here. It is not evidence for anything, other than the commentators own aprioric ignorance (not knowing). Just because the commentator doesn't understand, doesn't mean that God didn't do exactly as they do not understand. As the scripture says, Isa_55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. [4] Yes, "the day of the LORD" is speaking about Jesus' return (both 2nd and 3rd Advents). Even the commentators example of Isaiah 2:12, is in stark contrast to Isaiah 58:13, which John draws from as shown from the contextual parallelism/chiasm in Revelation 1. John uses a differing phrase, in Revelation 16:14 to refer to the "day of the Lord". Finally, Revelation, covers a lot more than simply the "Rapture, Resurrection, Tribulation, and Millennium", as shown by the statement in Revelation 1: Rev 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; [1] things which thou hast seen (past) [2] things which are (present) [3] things which shall be hereafter (future) For instance, Revelation 12:1-4 covers events long before John was even born. Revelation 13:1-2 would cover events from the time of Babylon to Papal Rome, and Revelation 17 does the same, and beyond it even unto the present day (which exists before the millennium of Revelation 20). Revelation 5 even covers the ascension of Jesus Christ, just before Pentecost, tying into Psalms 133:1-3; Acts 2:1-3,4,33, &c. Anyways, hope that this response makes sense.
  13. Sure - I can agree with that. (I also choose to believe the evidence pointing to what day of the week that specific day which John referred to is.)
  14. Good topic. Most people struggle with this part of being healthy - a forgiving spirit/heart, and because they are unforgiving, it actually affect their body at the cellular level, even to the bone marrow: Pro_17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
  15. Thank you for your kindness and time. I really appreciated your comments and the texts you brought. More people should be like that, willing to share.
