  1. Welcome, I hope I make sense to you. There is a hierarchy in the trinity, the spirit looks to Jesus, Jesus looks to the Father, yet all are equally God. The nearest illustration is marriage. The husband is the Head of the household and his wife has promised to obey him. Yet the two are also equal, neither is more important than the other. The power imbalance is corrected by the husbands duty to love his wife, as sacrificial as Jesus loved his church. It is the same in the trinity, each loves and responds to each other, there advantage is they are perfect with Perfect knowledge of each other. Hope this helps.
  2. There is William Lane Craig, he is a Christian Professor of philosophy. Or Dr G Habbermas an expert on the resurrection. Philosophical ideas are discussed inboth answersingenesis and creation.com. For investigations into the historical facts of Christianity there is Lee Strobel and James Warner Wallace. Or Sean Mcdowell and his book Evidence that demands a verdict. It is just about high brow ideas and fancy words, but also about historical facts.
  3. Romans 2:4 do you show contemptfor the riches of his ( God's) kindness, forbearance and patience, not realising that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
  4. As he did on the cross, he prayed for them, that the Father would forgive them, but Jesus did not forgive them. Forgiveness is Always conditional on repentance.
  5. In a garden just created how much work would need to be done? It says in gen 2:19 that God brought all the animals to Adam to name. How long would it take to name the ancestor of the cows, pigs, deer, dogs and birds etc? Why do you suppose it could not be done in one day.
  6. It is always a mistake to look at God and his actions only from our view point. Yes the thought of our loved ones having to suffer is horrific. What we know of God is that he is Holy, he is, Just and Merciful. He is not arbitrary or capricious in his judgments. I liken our seeing loved ones separated from God as our seeing a dearly loved one tried and convicted of a horrible crime. We have seen the evidence, heard the testimonies, witnesses the accused and agree with the jury, the verdict is guilty. Unfortunately that is what will happen on the day of judgement, we will know beyond any shadow of doubt that those loved ones are guilty and we will accept God's judgement. I don't know how our feelings will be helped other than we will know that justice has been done.
  7. May I suggest that you compare the church practices you are familiar with to the account given by Justin Martyr:- ‘On the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And they who are well to do, and willing, give what each thinks fit; and what is collected is deposited with the president, who succors [give assistance to] the orphans and widows, and those who, through sickness or any other cause are in want, and those who are in bonds, and the strangers sojourning among us, and in a word takes care of all who are in need. But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Savior on the same day rose from the dead.’ this was written to explain how Christians worshipped and to show there was nothing anti social or rebellious about it, he wrote in the 2nd century.
  8. As Hebrews 8:12 says ' I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Which is a quote from Jerimiah 31:31-34 where God promises to give a new covenant, writing his laws on the hearts of his people. In short repentance and saving faith.
  9. The child is already living, the frozen embryos are only potential life. But throw the question back at them. When does an unborn baby become human? Science says life begins at fertilisation, so what evidence do they have to support there view?
  10. I don't know about the states, but here in the UK our police have officers who will inspect ones house and advice on what can be done to improve security. You can also check on the crime stats for your area to see how valid your fears are. Discuss with your husband about getting a burglar alarm and intruder alarm, linked to the P0lice station. These might just be moving your anxiety from one perceived issue to another issue.
  11. Who are they? If people are making unreasonable amounts of noise, you will have grounds to complain to your landlord.
  12. Is there any particular thing or reasons for your anxiety? Are you eating and drinking properly? Do think seriously about seeking help for your anxieties, this is not a suggestion to get drugged to your eyebrows, but for counc3lling, therapy, as has been suggested vitamin supplements and practices like meditating on biblical verses to settle and calm your mind.
  13. AThe link is:- Coldcasechristianity.com/writings/is-jesus-simplly-a-retelling-of-the-osiris-mythology/
  14. Try coldcasechristianity, there is an article there on whether Christianity is a copy of various pagan myths. Or answers in genesis they cover most challenges to Christianity.
  15. Like 17:3 says yes it is. The whole bible teaches that without repentance there is no forgiveness of sin. Your contradictory problem.Through Jesus all sins are forgiven, but unless that forgiveness is received a sinner will end up in hell. As John 3:16 says those who believe are saved. Only those with.. ing to humble themselves and say sorry to God are willing to receive God's salvation.
  16. As you rightl6 say no one is punished for their parents sins, but parents sins influence and teach children how to live, so those same sins are perpetuated down the generations. Tha Amalekites started hating Israel and continued to hate Israel and were punished for that hatred.
  17. A good example of the pot calling the kettle black ! More to to the point, is Christianity true? Did Jesus rise from the dead? It isn't a case of they are so bad what they believe is untrue, but a case of Christianity is true and far too often its proponents don't live as they should.
  18. The possibility that I and my views are wrong. Science indicates that the universe had a beginning, something the bible tells us. What caused that begining? If an Intelligent supernatural being was the 1st cause, how can science detect it? If that being has made it self known to mankind, shouldn't we pay attention to what it/he says, even the bits we don't understand or disagree with. After all science says the dead do not come to life again, yet this is the bases of Christianity.
  19. It has everything to do with our forgiveness. We are to imitate Jesus in how he forgives us. Through Jesus all sins are forgiven, but sinners are not forgiven, they will be judged and punished unless they repent. We like God must have a forgiving nature, ready and willing to forgive those who are sorry for the hurt/harm they have done us. This does not mean we harbour grudges, but that we pray for the offender, that they will come to know God and we pray for ourselves that we can forgive them.
  20. Paul. In 2 cor7:10 say that10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. God frequently lamented, ' if my people who are called by my name will turn (repent)from there wicked ways and pray, then I will hear in heaven and heal their land. The ot sacrifices for sin were costly, only someone who was sorry for their sin would go through the effort of making a sacrifice for sin. They had to be sorry (repentant).
  21. Treasurer was rarely hidden away, rather it was on show. Look at the description of So.omons table, the walls were lined with gold, the utensils were made of gold, they flaunted there wealth so when the Romans took 5he city they would have stripped the temple, the Palace etc of everything of value. It would have end3d up being spent, either as soldiers loot or pay or being used to fund the lifestyle of the generals.
  22. Depends what we mean. I have knowledge that Jesus lived, was crucified, burried and that the tomb was found to be empty. This is all historical facts. I also have faith, I believe in a Jesus who was born, lived, was cruelly exceuted, and that he rose from the dead. Two beliefs based on the same set of historical facts, yet only the later makes me a Christian.
  23. I would still refer you to my opening post and the links etc there. A personal note what got me interested was a book ' Nothing but the Truth' by Brian H Edwards isn't 9780852346143 That dealt with how we got the bible, it's remarkable accuracy, textualcritism, etc etc etc.
