  1. So you keep all 613 Old Testament Commandments plus whatever Commandments you read in the New Testament plus any added by your Church, right?
  2. What is required and what is not? I don't believe the Jewish people had a choice to selective obey whatever they choose. Of what laws to follow and what laws are optional were not left to the Gentiles whim either! Jesus fulfilled the Law in the New Testament.
  3. These laws were given to the Jewish people of the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled the Law. Where are the 613 Commandments applied in full to the Gentiles?
  4. What proves that the either the day-age or gap theory of interpretation of Genesis 1 is proven by the scientific evidence that the Earth and its Moon are of two different ages, created at two different times. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Earth = 4.54 billion years (Earth) Source: https://www.space.com/moon-older-than-thought-apollo-lunar-rocks.html = 4.51 billion years (Moon) Source: https://www.space.com/moon-older-than-thought-apollo-lunar-rocks.html = 4.56 billion years (Sun) Source: https://www.space.com/moon-older-than-thought-apollo-lunar-rocks.html = 4.56 billion years (Solar System) Source: https://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/science/featured_science/tenyear/age.html = 13.7 billion years old (Age of Universe) There's nothing here to support the illogical argument of YEC. Scientific evidence supports the Age of the Universe being created first, then Solar System and Sun being created at near the same time, then the Earth, and finally the Moon. That is the current scientific understanding.
  5. As a person with moderate to severe anxiety, my one recommendation is to not self medicate. Talk with your primary care physician, be honest and don't hold anything back. If he/she is not sympathetic, find someone else.
  6. I think I may have used that site for H. G. Wells History If anyone can relate to you is me, growing up a Roman Catholic, attending mass six days a week until age 14. My father routinely tipped his hat every time he passed a Roman Catholic Church. Yet, the teaching I received was inconsistent between priests, nuns, and the laity. The Vatican had there own understanding and promoted it starting with Vatican II. When I got into High School, the teaching was even more inconsistent. By the time I finished High School, I was pretty much an agnostic. After a near death experience, I tried reading my Catholic bible to find meaning for why God saved me, but He was silent. I researched other faiths but was left wanting. So I remained an agnostic. At age 32, I had a supernatural experience when I listened to the testimony of a former drug user who was supernaturally saved by God. (Details in my testimony.) I then became a born-again Christian, got baptized (full immersion), spirit-filled, etc. I've studied various Christian positions over the last 40 plus years. There are a lot of good Roman Catholics, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are good Christians. It's an individual thing.
  7. I'm not sure of the timing, but I've been drawn to an in depth study of the book of Job. Things happened to Job and his family but he never cursed God as his friends suggested. The book of Job ends with Job being fully restored by God. Engineers have that same desire, at least some do. As a Mechanical Engineer, I always wanted to learn new things. We are detail oriented for the most part.
  8. When my wife and I lost our first child during pregnancy, the kind understanding people at church said we didn't have enough faith! It was an ectopic pregnancy so it was doomed from the start. The second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. So we have two children in heaven, none on Earth. The way society is now, I count that as a blessing although it didn't feel like that at the time.
  9. No. I never had one. I was not particularly fond of his teaching style. "The Dake" KJV, as it was referred to was popular at my church, although any KJV was used during service. The more I read it, the more I realized I needed a more reliable commentary than Dake's. That's when I bought Unger's Two Volume Commentary on the Old Testament. Excellent choice but hard to find now. This was forty years ago and I have many Old and New Testament Commentaries, but none better. It's based on the NASB I believe. There's no electronic version available.
  10. When I lived and worked in Los Angeles, a friend loaned me his copy of Carlos Castaneda's book which he wrote high on mushrooms, if I remember right. I think there were 4 books in the series. He was big into UFOs, or as they're now called, UAP's. He claimed to have seen one but I don't know if he was a credible eyewitness. I went from Roman Catholic, to Seeker, to Agnostic, to Charismatic, to Christian. I went through my books in the late '80s and got rid of all Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Jerry Savelle, E. W. Kenyon, Oral Roberts, and other books espousing "new age techniques". The pastor at my full-gospel church was getting into TM, visualizing your hands are Christ's hands when laying hands on the sick. Keep up the good work Mr. M.
  11. Mr. M This is a touchy subject for some. My wife and I were members of a "full Gospel" church following the teachings of: E. W. Kenyon, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Jerry Savelle, et al. The light turned on for us when watching "The John Ankerberg Show" regarding the influx of the "New Age Movement" into Christian Churches. Constance Cumby and Dave Hunt wrote books detailing what was happening and how this was anti-Christian and not biblical. I saw this happen first-hand in a church we were members of in St. Louis County. It's one of the reasons I've started warning people about yoga and TM. No good can come of this. Thanks Mr. M for starting this thread. SObG
  12. There is anxiety and stress, then there is ANXIETY and STRESS!!! It's different for everyone who suffers from it as is their coping mechanism for dealing. Their walk with God will be tested, and tested again.
  13. (Daniel 11:1) “And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him. (Daniel 11:2) “And now I will show you the truth. Behold, three more kings shall arise in Persia, and a fourth shall be far richer than all of them. And when he has become strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the kingdom of Greece. (Daniel 11:3) Then a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion and do as he wills. (Daniel 11:4) And as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom shall be broken and divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not to his posterity, nor according to the authority with which he ruled, for his kingdom shall be plucked up and go to others besides these. (Daniel 11:5) “Then the king of the south shall be strong, but one of his princes shall be stronger than he and shall rule, and his authority shall be a great authority. (Daniel 11:6) After some years they shall make an alliance, and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement. But she shall not retain the strength of her arm, and he and his arm shall not endure, but she shall be given up, and her attendants, he who fathered her, and he who supported her in those times. (Daniel 11:7) “And from a branch from her roots one shall arise in his place. He shall come against the army and enter the fortress of the king of the north, and he shall deal with them and shall prevail. (Daniel 11:8) He shall also carry off to Egypt their gods with their metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold, and for some years he shall refrain from attacking the king of the north. (Daniel 11:9) Then the latter shall come into the realm of the king of the south but shall return to his own land. (Daniel 11:10) “His sons shall wage war and assemble a multitude of great forces, which shall keep coming and overflow and pass through, and again shall carry the war as far as his fortress. (Daniel 11:11) Then the king of the south, moved with rage, shall come out and fight against the king of the north. And he shall raise a great multitude, but it shall be given into his hand. (Daniel 11:12) And when the multitude is taken away, his heart shall be exalted, and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail. (Daniel 11:13) For the king of the north shall again raise a multitude, greater than the first. And after some years he shall come on with a great army and abundant supplies. (Daniel 11:14) “In those times many shall rise against the king of the south, and the violent among your own people shall lift themselves up in order to fulfill the vision, but they shall fail. (Daniel 11:15) Then the king of the north shall come and throw up siegeworks and take a well-fortified city. And the forces of the south shall not stand, or even his best troops, for there shall be no strength to stand. (Daniel 11:16) But he who comes against him shall do as he wills, and none shall stand before him. And he shall stand in the glorious land, with destruction in his hand. (Daniel 11:17) He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and he shall bring terms of an agreement and perform them. He shall give him the daughter of women to destroy the kingdom, but it shall not stand or be to his advantage. (Daniel 11:18) Afterward he shall turn his face to the coastlands and shall capture many of them, but a commander shall put an end to his insolence. Indeed, he shall turn his insolence back upon him. (Daniel 11:19) Then he shall turn his face back toward the fortresses of his own land, but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found. (Daniel 11:20) “Then shall arise in his place one who shall send an exactor of tribute for the glory of the kingdom. But within a few days he shall be broken, neither in anger nor in battle. (Daniel 11:21) In his place shall arise a contemptible person to whom royal majesty has not been given. He shall come in without warning and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. (Daniel 11:22) Armies shall be utterly swept away before him and broken, even the prince of the covenant. (Daniel 11:23) And from the time that an alliance is made with him he shall act deceitfully, and he shall become strong with a small people. (Daniel 11:24) Without warning he shall come into the richest parts of the province, and he shall do what neither his fathers nor his fathers' fathers have done, scattering among them plunder, spoil, and goods. He shall devise plans against strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:25) And he shall stir up his power and his heart against the king of the south with a great army. And the king of the south shall wage war with an exceedingly great and mighty army, but he shall not stand, for plots shall be devised against him. (Daniel 11:26) Even those who eat his food shall break him. His army shall be swept away, and many shall fall down slain. (Daniel 11:27) And as for the two kings, their hearts shall be bent on doing evil. They shall speak lies at the same table, but to no avail, for the end is yet to be at the time appointed. (Daniel 11:28) And he shall return to his land with great wealth, but his heart shall be set against the holy covenant. And he shall work his will and return to his own land. (Daniel 11:29) “At the time appointed he shall return and come into the south, but it shall not be this time as it was before. (Daniel 11:30) For ships of Kittim shall come against him, and he shall be afraid and withdraw, and shall turn back and be enraged and take action against the holy covenant. He shall turn back and pay attention to those who forsake the holy covenant. (Daniel 11:31) Forces from him shall appear and profane the temple and fortress, and shall take away the regular burnt offering. And they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. (Daniel 11:32) He shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant, but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action. (Daniel 11:33) And the wise among the people shall make many understand, though for some days they shall stumble by sword and flame, by captivity and plunder. (Daniel 11:34) When they stumble, they shall receive a little help. And many shall join themselves to them with flattery, (Daniel 11:35) and some of the wise shall stumble, so that they may be refined, purified, and made white, until the time of the end, for it still awaits the appointed time. (Daniel 11:36) “And the king shall do as he wills. He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done. (Daniel 11:37) He shall pay no attention to the gods of his fathers, or to the one beloved by women. He shall not pay attention to any other god, for he shall magnify himself above all. (Daniel 11:38) He shall honor the god of fortresses instead of these. A god whom his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts. (Daniel 11:39) He shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall load with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. (Daniel 11:40) “At the time of the end, the king of the south shall attack him, but the king of the north shall rush upon him like a whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall come into countries and shall overflow and pass through. (Daniel 11:41) He shall come into the glorious land. And tens of thousands shall fall, but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites. (Daniel 11:42) He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:43) He shall become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt, and the Libyans and the Cushites shall follow in his train. (Daniel 11:44) But news from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out with great fury to destroy and devote many to destruction. (Daniel 11:45) And he shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with none to help him. [ESV]
  14. (Psalms 35:1) Of David. Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! (Psalms 35:2) Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! (Psalms 35:3) Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!” (Psalms 35:4) Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life! Let them be turned back and disappointed who devise evil against me! (Psalms 35:5) Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away! (Psalms 35:6) Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them! (Psalms 35:7) For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. (Psalms 35:8) Let destruction come upon him when he does not know it! And let the net that he hid ensnare him; let him fall into it—to his destruction! (Psalms 35:9) Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD, exulting in his salvation. (Psalms 35:10) All my bones shall say, “O LORD, who is like you, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, the poor and needy from him who robs him?” (Psalms 35:11) Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I do not know. (Psalms 35:12) They repay me evil for good; my soul is bereft. (Psalms 35:13) But I, when they were sick— I wore sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my chest. (Psalms 35:14) I went about as though I grieved for my friend or my brother; as one who laments his mother, I bowed down in mourning. (Psalms 35:15) But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered; they gathered together against me; wretches whom I did not know tore at me without ceasing; (Psalms 35:16) like profane mockers at a feast, they gnash at me with their teeth. (Psalms 35:17) How long, O Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their destruction, my precious life from the lions! (Psalms 35:18) I will thank you in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise you. (Psalms 35:19) Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause. (Psalms 35:20) For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they devise words of deceit. (Psalms 35:21) They open wide their mouths against me; they say, “Aha, Aha! Our eyes have seen it!” (Psalms 35:22) You have seen, O LORD; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me! (Psalms 35:23) Awake and rouse yourself for my vindication, for my cause, my God and my Lord! (Psalms 35:24) Vindicate me, O LORD, my God, according to your righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me! (Psalms 35:25) Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, our heart's desire!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.” (Psalms 35:26) Let them be put to shame and disappointed altogether who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me! (Psalms 35:27) Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!” (Psalms 35:28) Then my tongue shall tell of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long. 15. So the simple answer to the question posed in the thread title is YES. He was a much better president than I thought he'd be.
  16. What I can't figure out is why there is still ~ 40% of the people in the USA still supporting Biden and his Crime Family. There seems to be a panic among the leftists to keep abortion a legal option and to destroy our youth through the acceptance of perversion as just a life choice. (Isaiah 5:21) Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:22) Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink, (Isaiah 5:23) who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right! (Isaiah 5:24) Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 17. The word "yom" can mean various time periods. Here's the take from Wikipedia: Yom
  18. 2 Samuel 12:1-31 - [Believer's Bible Commentary] B. Confession to the Lord (Chap. 12) 12:1-9 It is generally believed that about a year elapsed between chapters 11 and 12. During that time the hand of the LORD was heavy upon David; his spiritual struggle is described in Psalms 32 and 51. The prophet Nathan . . . came to him with this parable, asking David's judgment on the matter: "A rich man with many sheep was unwilling to use any of his own animals as food when a visitor called on him. Instead, he took the one little ewe lamb belonging to a poor man and slaughtered it. “David could judge sin in others more easily than in himself. He angrily declared that the man should restore fourfold and deserved to die for his sin. Nathan fearlessly pointed the accusing finger at David, saying, in effect, "You are the man who did it. God dealt graciously with you, making you king, enriching you, giving you everything that your heart could desire. But you took Bathsheba from her husband and then killed him to cover your crime." 12:10-14 The king's solemn sentence was then pronounced: His children would be a grief to him. His family would be torn by bloody conflict. His wives would be stolen from him and violated publicly (see 2 Samuel 16:22). His sinful deed would become a matter of general knowledge. David then came to the place of repentance and confessed his sin as being against the LORD. Morgan comments: Note the "also" in verse 13. A man puts away his own sin when in sincerity he confesses it. That makes it possible for God also to put it away. Nathan immediately assured him that the penalty of his sin was remitted—he would not die. But the consequences of his sin would follow him. Actually, he would have to restore fourfold (Exodus 22:1), as he himself had decreed concerning the rich man in the parable: The baby would die; Amnon would be murdered (chapter 13); Absalom would be slain (chap. 18); Adonijah would be executed (1 Kings 2). 12:15-23 When the baby became ill, David prostrated himself in prayer and fasting. He was deeply grieved. But when he learned that the baby had died, he arose and ate, explaining that the baby could not return, but that he, David, would one day join the baby when he died. Verse 23 has been a source of great comfort to believing parents who have lost infants and young children. Matthew Henry comments: Godly parents have great reason to hope concerning their children that die in infancy that it is well with their souls in the other world; for the promise is to us and to our seed, which shall be performed to those that do not put a bar in their own door, as infants do not. We can be confident that children who die before they reach the age of accountability go to heaven because Jesus said, "Of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14). [Believer's Bible Commentary] My wife I lost two children during pregnancy. So although we have no children, we have two with the Lord.
  19. Most U.S. adults – including a solid majority of Christians and large numbers of people who identify with other religious traditions – consider the Earth sacred and believe God gave humans a duty to care for it, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. Source: How Religion Intersects with Americans Views on the Environment I believe it's our responsibility to be good stewards of the Earth that God put us in charge of. But I don't buy into the hypocrisy of the Biden-Harris Administration.
  20. Actually, this is not a good view of creation since the Creation of the Universe, scientifically speaking, has occurred over many eons of time. Not every object in the Cosmos has the same age. So is Genesis local creation only? That's what led me to Gap Creationism.
