Revelation 20

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Whatever hell is it will be cast into the lake of fire. So in the end they end up in the lake of fire.

All Praise The Ancient Of Days

I had forgotten about the Lake of Fire. This changes the whole thread then. Is the Lake of Fire mentioned anywhere else in scripture, by any other description. I looked briefly and could not find any other description. Wow.

The term lake of fire is found way back in hosea 13:4 and its in at least 71 verses of the new testement all refering to death and hell in some way...

this is how strongs translates the words lake and fire from the greek:-

G3041

λίμνη

limnē

lim'-nay

Probably from G3040 (through the idea of the nearness of shore); a pond (large or small): - lake.

G4442

πῦρ

pur

poor

Ya'll have covered the Scriptures proving in the literal hell very well indeed! Amen and Amen.

If we believe in the literal Heaven (and I do and know you all or most of you do) then why should we not believe in the literal hell? That's a rhetorical question.

I'm lookin forward to seeing the literal Heaven! While my little mind can't wrap around just how awesome it's going to be but I know that it is? It's the same when I say my little mind can't wrap around the hell that hell is going to be. I take God's Word for it.

Maranatha!

Love through our Jesus!

There were four words used in the bible that were translated to the word hell.

Hell is an old english word that meant many different things to many different people.

1. Sheol: which is hebrew for grave or pit. If all of the king james translators would have translated this word the same we would have been better off today. But some had to be colorfull and inject their beliefs into the scriptures that they were put in charge of: to translate.

The best translation of this word for the american language is. THE GRAVE.

2. Hades: This is a greek word That to the greeks and to the hebrews had two different meanings. to the hebrews it was the same as sheol. to the greeks it meant: Pluto god of the underworld and Orcus the neatherworld.

The best translation for the american language is, THE GRAVE

3. Tartaros: which is a greek word meaning The deepest darkest abyss.

The best translation in the american language is. NONEXISTANT or NOTHINGNESS

4. Gehenna :: Which means the valley of hinom.or the valley of the son of hinom.

JESUS CHRIST used this word in his teachings frequently. You can find out what significance this word had to the LORD by reading jeremiah chapter 7 and chapter 19

In CHRIST JESUS

Literal. figurative or hypothetical, doesn't scare me as much as the the thought of beind seperated from God. As a christian, can you imagine not having God? and all of His attributes? I shudder.

cheers,

eric.

Exactly my sentiments Eric. I've not spent any time wondering what hell was like, but I've spent alot of time pondering Heaven.

Jesus Himself, demonstrated on the cross that the emotional pain of being seperated from the Father was more painful to Him than the physical torment He experienced.

Thank you Lord Jesus, that through you we have no longer the fear of being seperated from our Heavenly Father. Amen.

Good point Eric, also think about Satan, who is a spirit, is said to be in the Lake of Fire, being "tormented day and night forever and ever" (Rev. 20:10). We should not suppose that his "spiritual" torment is less severe than any "physical" torment.

The word "hell" does not always refer strictly to the "afterlife" state. Often times it has application to the judgment of people on Earth. For instance, in Matt. 11:23; Lk. 10:15, Jesus said of the city of Capernaum, "You

I have no doubt that it is a real place. It's interesting to note that Satan will NOT be the one in charge. He will be swallowed up in it just like anyone else. The ruler on earth maybe, but not even he will have the power to escape from hell.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
